Toyota owns Scion. Scion is a division that targets the younger market in the states. They're very much mechanically the same, besides maybe using an engine tuned for different fuel types, being left hand drive and other small things to keep within national vehicle requirements.

The change to Scion makes sense, though many are opposed to the idea. The current reality is that the Toyota branded cars have been getting away from any semblance of performance for sometime. Lexus and Scion are all that are left to release vehicles intended to be sporty. Lexus would be a good name plate for this car to be under except this car was designed to be sold at the $20K mark, a price point that has been mapped out for Scion brand.
If a car like the LF-A can be branded as Lexus this one should be too.I think it deservers it,nevertheless being branded as Scion just doesn't sounds cool enough for this car.Such a shame.

Same thing happened with the Lexus LF-A. It's a Toyota, but a changed badge in America. In my opinion, I wish the FR-S/FT-86 should have been a Lexus instead of scion, but I don't care.
I really don't mind it being a scion. Honestly I could care less, the car looks sexy and clean. I'm excited to see the finished product. Also I can see why they're making it a Scion.

@irokster They marketted this car based on the ae86 which is lighter than an Elise. If you want an elise you can buy one used which now runs around 30k. They have low mileage as well less than 20k miles.
I would prefer and Exige though. I've driven my cousin's car and there are NO cars like it. I like it better than his 911 turbo. If things go wrong though you will have to ship it to Norfolk England.

@frozensnake1 Did you look deeper into my videos? I use to drift a 350z kiddo. I own an Infiniti FX35 after I sold my 350z, and my Scion is my track toy. My Scion has roughly $15k into it over time. It's not about being able to afford a car....lol. I have a family of my own and still maintain this hobby. The FT-86 is going to replace my 350z. Probably get rid of the FX35 since gas prices are ridiculous these days and she's a gas guzzler. Don't always assume things though chief.

@irokster They marketted this car based on the ae86 which is lighter than an Elise. If you want an elise you can buy one used which now runs around 30k. They have low mileage as well less than 20k miles.
I would prefer and Exige though. I've driven my cousin's car and there are NO cars like it. I like it better than his 911 turbo. If things go wrong though you will have to ship it to Norfolk England.

@frozensnake1 Did you look deeper into my videos? I use to drift a 350z kiddo. I own an Infiniti FX35 after I sold my 350z, and my Scion is my track toy. My Scion has roughly $15k into it over time. It's not about being able to afford a car....lol. I have a family of my own and still maintain this hobby. The FT-86 is going to replace my 350z. Probably get rid of the FX35 since gas prices are ridiculous these days and she's a gas guzzler. Don't always assume things though chief.

@frozensnake1 Just stating, you assumed way to fast and you missed the mark. I have two sons. Can't exactly fit the wife and two kids in a two seater. Hard to argue about $15k into a car being a waste when I'm beating people at the track. Which I'm sure you know nothing about. Why keep spending $60 a tank to last 2 days when I could put that money else where, so no longer interested in having the FX. Getting a GSXR600 soon, along with a new turbo setup for the tC. FT comes out 2011/12.

@frozensnake1 I compete noob. It's a hobby and a competition on competition days. How the hell is it NOT separate. I don't drive around an FX35 for just pure luxury. Or just buy cars for status. If it's a great car, then I'll get it. I don't care if it's a Toyota/Scion, Infiniti/Nissan. I don't like Honda because of their design when it comes to motors (high rpm no torque). But if there was a Honda that really peaked my interest then I would look into it.

@frozensnake1 I bought the 350z solely for the purpose of drifting. Then we started a family. So, needed somewhere to put the kids, it's not that hard to understand. I race on a track, how hard is that to understand as well. Your original assumption was I must be some poor kid because I have a Scion. You assumed wrong. What's wrong with wanting a car that gets better gas mileage? How is that hard to understand. I'm getting rid of the FX for a vehicle with better mpg....DUH!
