Launching in heavy wind is dangerous. During the first 10 or 15 seconds of the flight it is most vulnerable, there are a lot of disturbances to the airflow near ground level caused by buildings, trees etc. Little whirls, eddies, downdrafts etc. can cause it to crash while still lit and potentially start a fire.
Once it's cleared the first 30 or 40 feet it's ok but below that it's unpredictable.
This is why they always say launch them in calm or light wind conditions.
it disapears to quickly in the light, if you wait till dark you can see the fire for like five mins till it goes out of sight
