well i read some were with a interview with one of the original Final Fantasy 7 makers that if all of the people that worked on FF7 came together they would most defiantly do it.
I love this game, the final fantasy series is fantastic but none really compare to number 7. I think it would b an awesome idea to remake the game,as long as they kept the gameplay the same ( with the extra bits u get with the American version)

They won't remake it because of the unrealistic costs of the production and design; the difference between the world maps in each concurrent game, for example. Can you imagine trying to recreate the world map, with all of it's functionality, with updated graphics? I imagine most gaming engines couldn't handle it, not to mention the amount of resources (both abstract and physical) it would require. As much as I would love a remake...it's not going to happen.
@archon000 They could make a world map based on closed stages, like FFX. When you have the airship, then they could do again like in FFX, you're inside the Highwind and you select the destination in the menu. I think its easier than doing an open world, but of course it'd take a lot of time to make.

It was too easy to find hidden places in FFX...in FFVII you had to actually find them yourself, some inclusive to chocobos only. The only other thing I feel would be a challenge for them is cost of production...I heard it would take about ten years for them to recreate that game in it's entirety with updated graphics. That's a lot of time and money.

this is my most favourite game of all time and i would love to see a remake for the ps3 i think anyone who loves this game would say the same but the team who created the ff7 masterpiece has been busy building the kingdom hearts series and ff13 series so they currently haver a lot of work to do for a few years due to the expected releases of kindom hearts 3 for ps3 and ff versus 13 which are both still be worked on and have been for at least 6 years so hopfully they consider it after those games
Here is the thing. I have also been looking into this and the guys at square enix have said this himself. "If we were to remake Final Fantasy VII with the quality of Final Fantasy XIII it would become a tremendous project. If we can get the number of people we need by all means that would be the one I would really want to remake." He said he wanted to do it. Its just that if you added all of the time it would take to put it together it would be 10+ years. It doesn't look like it will happen.
there waiting till the theology to make these games is more advance. just look at 13 a lot of people was disappointed for the lack of free roaming and lack of towns but it took them everything to get the game out as soon as passable. to get it where every one wanted it they would have to had spend more years on it but that is way verses 13 is taking forever to come out everything they are planning for it takes time so if they do remake 7 in all its glory its going to be another 8 years or so.

FFX should just be rerelased onto the PS3. It's graphics are still pretty kickass, and it was mainly voiced, which may be something to look forward too in the new release of FFVII.
so far they have remade final fantasy 1-4 so if they keep on going then i think they might remake up to 9 because after that the games were on the ps2 so there would be no point in a remake for the rest
i think the remake would work they just need to add more content then just the same thing other wise it will just be the same thing as the ps1 so like slightly different materia and weapon's also the chocobo breeding can be a tiny be harder and they can do the things they really wonted to do in ff 7 witch they couldn't since of the dead line when they needed to release it.

This game does not need a remake at all. Keep it how it was and just buy the title on PSN or just buy the actual game from the internet. I love this one but it wasn't the best one. Innovative, yes. Beautiful story, yes. Gameplay.... Well it was FFVI with added features. Final Fantasy is still a great franchise. I have each and every single one of the main games. Stop living in the past and embrace the future.
@stayawayfromtheshed The most reccent Final Fantasy's did not suck. They were just different or not the norm of the series. The paradigm system for XIII was enjoyable but grinding was a bitch. The story of XIII was really good but all of the fanboys complained about it being linear and having no towns. XII was actually one of the most critically claimed due to the amazing story and game play. X and IX are the best recent ones no doubt but each FF besides the online crap are quality games.

1) FFVII has become Tetsuya Nomura's thing, and currently he is juggling both Kingdom Hearts and the ever elusive FF Versus XIII. Square-Enix is also throwing a LOT of money into totally revamping XIV.
2) The fans are picky, and I'm positive Nomura realizes that a lot of them will lose faith if the remake isn't perfect.
3) There is a some adult content early on that might not be as censor-safe in HD as it is in polygons. Plus, do you want to see Miss Cloud in HD?
speculation... the story has already been told. theyre busy making new ones - unfortunately they never quite got it right since the golden age of the FF series. ffxiii was probably their attempt at "the second ffvii" - the storyline was quite good, but the gameplay fell on its face... not saying i wouldnt buy and play if they did make a remake, i just dont think it will happen. ffvi deserves a remake... at least ffvii was 3d lol

dont think that SE gets thousandsof requests for this remake daily? it would be stupid for SE not to listen, but even stupider for you to believe that SE havent listened. theyre keeping it 100% secret because it builds more hype and speculation that way. the reason it hasn't been done yet and still is in production is because SE are taking their time to recraft the masterpiece. this is most definitely not something you want SE to rush and do sloppily. the longer the wait, the better.

It would take time, sure. People have been begging for a remake for years. It would sell MILLIONS of copies. If they were to do it, they should stay true to the old game play and not try to gamble with these god awful battle systems they have now. Also giving an option to do voice or text, to give the older feel if the player prefers it. There are a number of factors to consider. I bet Square will go for broke with a remake when they have nothing to lose.

they made the trailer really good why not the entire game? sure time is involved but its definitly worth the wait just knowing its being made, idfc how many years it takes.
if they were to remake FFVI, no matter what the cost, (hundreds even thousands) i would gladly buy the game as even now i still play the original PS1 version. Pesonally, i think the guys working at square enix would be fools not to remake such an AWESOME game. Not only would they profit from sales, but they would also have better self accomplishment if they remade it instead of keep making new FF games that i personally think have been getting worse since FFX
do you realise how long FF7 would take to make? believe it or not, the Ps1 version was HUGE. just the world map itself was an enormous amount of disc space/data. convert all that to todays graphics, that would take an enormous amount of work. I heard it would take quite a bit of time, years, even.

A remake of one of the best games that has ever hit a computer game store would be EPIC. I am a huge fan of Final Fantasy VII and one of my idols is indeed, Sephiroth.
I know Square Enix will be worried about the reviews the game will recieve if it is remade. How many other titles have been remade and reviews have totally bombed. I am not a big PS3 fan but if this game is remade I will gladly buy a PS3 just for it, unless they bring it out for 360 also.
I honestly think they should remake FF VII. Imagine how much money Square could make off this and let's be honest if they claim they won't be remaking FF VII then they shouldn't throw stuff around like they did at the end of Crisis Core. Since FFx was the last true world-blowing RPG done by Square hands the other stuff, FFx2, Kingdom Hearts, FFXI has lacked the quality of SquareSoft.
To request such a task to the current Square Enix is impossible, especially since they have totally disregarded an equally hyped up game as FFXIII versus.
It is now up to true fans of the game to give us years-long developed mods for the game for us to enhance the FFVII experience with modern quality, without damaging the original concepts

Okay,first let me say that I absolutely LOVE FF7. It's not the best FF,but it's the one I spent the most time with,i've beaten it more times than I can remember,and...well...I love it,okay?

Hopefully, they ignore they DoC retcon and put Yuffie and Vincent on the Highwind during the Comet crisis when they do remake FF7. EVERYONE knew back then that they didn't put them in the last FMV because of money/space and them being optional.

If you've noticed throughout the entire compilation of FFVII, there is unused music in some of the games, some of the elements also make reference as well, here's a pointer, the end credits song "Living Legacy" in Crisis Core has music that is actually remade music, the battle theme, the overworld theme, aerith's theme and others, these songs are all unused throughout the series hinting at possible usage for the remake...
I think this might be a while they might make it as remake for the new gen console after ps3. Also they might not be ready for such recent remakes. I know its been a decade but maybe technology hasnt been fast enough for it to be easily made CHEAPLY. Who knows they might wait to remake it till they can remake the PS FF series (7-9) in one swoop. They also have to be careful to not ruin the legacy. Even if they updated the graphics and left it unchanged people would bitch and say they ruined it
Wouldn't it be nice if Square would get their head out of the clouds (FF13, where all they concentrate on is graphics) and back into Cloud. It's a franchise the fans ACTUALLY show, not just enthusiasm but, true loyalty. If the fine (and this term is used very lightly) people at Square-Enix have a finger on the pulse of popular demand AT ALL, an FF7 remake should be at the top of the proverbial to-do list.

While, I, personally, enjoyed FFXIII, many thought it was terrible; an utter flop.
Now, it seems as though FFXIII-2 is going to be just as awful as FFX-2, and FFXIV was so terrible they had to delay the release for PS3 to an unknown date. I think they are using a remake of FFVII as a last resort once their fanbase has completely lost hope.
@xxXCorpseBrideXxxx I resent that I think FFX-2 was the last great successful game SE has had. It had an excellent job system, battle style, great replay value, side quests and mini games. The only thing it lacked was a poor storyline. The newer titles have been the exact opposite, great new storylines, terrible battle systems and a complete loss of anything resembling a class system and no replay value at all. 7 was a great combo of all those thongs though (minus replay value.)
I perosnally feel that it'll be remade of the PSP2/NGP. It would be a more secure option considering that remaking FFVII for the PS3 would cost what FFXIII did. If not more, unless they made it linear with no world map but I don't think anyone would like that.
I'd imagine that the remake might start production once Versus ends. That's just my guess, I have a huge feeling it will be remade one day though, and before 2017.

@MrDasolja materia (sphere things) was one of the greatest atributes to the game, it really made it an extrodinary rpg because of all the ways you could customize your character.....but yes sometimes they are annoying

I never played FF7 back in the day like a lot of my old mates from school. I was more of a Duke Nukem, Tenchu Silent Hill or Die Hard Trilogy kind of guy, but I thought FF10 was one of the best RPG's ever created. When I 1st saw the intro, I already knew, this was gonna be big. Nowadays I think the turn based combat system is a bit dated, but I would definitely play a remake of FF7, as an excuse to find out what all the fuss was about!

Yea man, I'd buy it. Like I say, 10 was a great game, even though I could never get past that semi-big boss dude with the robot suit who ambushes you in the snowy mountains where that lion-man (forgot his name) used to live. Halo was great, but that was when it was a new thing. Halo 2 was a good game, but it didn't really bring much new to the table. Halo 3? Fuck knows, I've never played it, I'm a dirty PS3 fanboy hahaha, Killzone is MY halo, and COD is whackness on a disc.

this is my most favourite game of all time and i would love to see a remake for the ps3 i think anyone who loves this game would say the same but the team who created the ff7 masterpiece has been busy building the kingdom hearts series and ff13 series so they currently haver a lot of work to do for a few years due to the expected releases of kindom hearts 3 for ps3 and ff versus 13 which are both still be worked on and have been for at least 6 years so hopfully they consider it after those games

Here is the thing. I have also been looking into this and the guys at square enix have said this himself. "If we were to remake Final Fantasy VII with the quality of Final Fantasy XIII it would become a tremendous project. If we can get the number of people we need by all means that would be the one I would really want to remake." He said he wanted to do it. Its just that if you added all of the time it would take to put it together it would be 10+ years. It doesn't look like it will happen.

there waiting till the theology to make these games is more advance. just look at 13 a lot of people was disappointed for the lack of free roaming and lack of towns but it took them everything to get the game out as soon as passable. to get it where every one wanted it they would have to had spend more years on it but that is way verses 13 is taking forever to come out everything they are planning for it takes time so if they do remake 7 in all its glory its going to be another 8 years or so.

This game does not need a remake at all. Keep it how it was and just buy the title on PSN or just buy the actual game from the internet. I love this one but it wasn't the best one. Innovative, yes. Beautiful story, yes. Gameplay.... Well it was FFVI with added features. Final Fantasy is still a great franchise. I have each and every single one of the main games. @stayawayfromtheshed The most reccent Final Fantasy's did not suck. They were just different or not the norm of the series. The paradigm system for XIII was enjoyable but grinding was a bitch. The story of XIII was really good but all of the fanboys complained about it being linear and having no towns. XII was actually one of the most critically claimed due to the amazing story and game play. X and IX are the best recent ones no doubt but each FF besides the online crap are quality games.

A few things regarding a remake:
1) FFVII has become Tetsuya Nomura's thing, and currently he is juggling both Kingdom Hearts and the ever elusive FF Versus XIII. Square-Enix is also throwing a LOT of money into totally revamping XIV.
2) The fans are picky, and I'm positive Nomura realizes that a lot of them will lose faith if the remake isn't perfect.
3) There is a some adult content early on that might not be as censor-safe in HD as it is in polygons. Plus, do you want to see Miss Cloud in HD?

It would take time, sure. People have been begging for a remake for years. It would sell MILLIONS of copies. If they were to do it, they should stay true to the old game play and not try to gamble with these god awful battle systems they have now. Also giving an option to do voice or text, to give the older feel if the player prefers it. There are a number of factors to consider. I bet Square will go for broke with a remake when they have nothing to lose.

A remake of one of the best games that has ever hit a computer game store would be EPIC. I am a huge fan of Final Fantasy VII and one of my idols is indeed, Sephiroth.
I know Square Enix will be worried about the reviews the game will recieve if it is remade. How many other titles have been remade and reviews have totally bombed. I am not a big PS3 fan but if this game is remade I will gladly buy a PS3 just for it, unless they bring it out for 360 also.

Since FFx was the last true world-blowing RPG done by Square hands the other stuff, FFx2, Kingdom Hearts, FFXI has lacked the quality of SquareSoft.
To request such a task to the current Square Enix is impossible, especially since they have totally disregarded an equally hyped up game as FFXIII versus.
It is now up to true fans of the game to give us years-long developed mods for the game for us to enhance the FFVII experience with modern quality, without damaging the original concepts

Okay,first let me say that I absolutely LOVE FF7. It's not the best FF,but it's the one I spent the most time with,i've beaten it more times than I can remember,and...well...I love it,okay?
That said,if you wanna play FF7,then play it. Remaking it isn't going to make it better. Besides,this game with full 3D environments,voice acting,re-recorded musical score and cutscenes? It'd be a monster AND hella expensive.

If you've noticed throughout the entire compilation of FFVII, there is unused music in some of the games, some of the elements also make reference as well, here's a pointer, the end credits song "Living Legacy" in Crisis Core has music that is actually remade music, the battle theme, the overworld theme, aerith's theme and others, these songs are all unused throughout the series hinting at possible usage for the remake...

I think this might be a while they might make it as remake for the new gen console after ps3. Also they might not be ready for such recent remakes. I know its been a decade but maybe technology hasnt been fast enough for it to be easily made CHEAPLY. Who knows they might wait to remake it till they can remake the PS FF series (7-9) in one swoop. They also have to be careful to not ruin the legacy. Even if they updated the graphics and left it unchanged people would bitch and say they ruined it

Wouldn't it be nice if Square would get their head out of the clouds (FF13, where all they concentrate on is graphics) and back into Cloud. It's a franchise the fans ACTUALLY show, not just enthusiasm but, true loyalty. If the fine (and this term is used very lightly) people at Square-Enix have a finger on the pulse of popular demand AT ALL, an FF7 remake should be at the top of the proverbial to-do list.
SE!!!!! Please put some of the long lost luster back into the FF series!

I think that Square Enix might just be holding out until they become absolutely desperate to regain their fanbase.
While, I, personally, enjoyed FFXIII, many thought it was terrible; an utter flop.
Now, it seems as though FFXIII-2 is going to be just as awful as FFX-2, and FFXIV was so terrible they had to delay the release for PS3 to an unknown date. I think they are using a remake of FFVII as a last resort once their fanbase has completely lost hope.

@xxXCorpseBrideXxxx I resent that I think FFX-2 was the last great successful game SE has had. It had an excellent job system, battle style, great replay value, side quests and mini games. The only thing it lacked was a poor storyline. The newer titles have been the exact opposite, great new storylines, terrible battle systems and a complete loss of anything resembling a class system and no replay value at all. 7 was a great combo of all those thongs though (minus replay value.)

I perosnally feel that it'll be remade of the PSP2/NGP. It would be a more secure option considering that remaking FFVII for the PS3 would cost what FFXIII did. If not more, unless they made it linear with no world map but I don't think anyone would like that.
I'd imagine that the remake might start production once Versus ends. That's just my guess, I have a huge feeling it will be remade one day though, and before 2017.

Realistically speaking, it will most likely be re-made on the PSP2 instead of the PS3. If thats the case, I'm all in.

Seriously the very second that this is CONFIRMED for ps4 or whenever for whatever as an all out remake.. then that generation is already won by whoever gets the title. Then ppl who didn't get the fuss about this game back in sep 9th 1997, WILL TRULY UNDERSTAND. Seriously fanboyism aside this 1 game isn't like all the other modern games with remakes and a closet fanbase... THIS IS THE GAME OF GAMES... THIS IS THE CITIZEN KANE OF VIDEOGAMES, THE MONA LISA ETC. The event will be 10 times HALO HYPE!

if they do remake keep the fighting to the ps1 way simple and yet fun, the leveling up systwm was great i hated all the spere things.

@MrDasolja materia (sphere things) was one of the greatest atributes to the game, it really made it an extrodinary rpg because of all the ways you could customize your character.....but yes sometimes they are annoying

thanks bro for the heads up on that if it does come out, and hell yeah they should bring back the FF7 cause it has the best story line and the best charaters, i like the FF serious but i love FF7 aye, crisis core was abit of a failure, back yeah they need to remake it,

I never played FF7 back in the day like a lot of my old mates from school. I was more of a Duke Nukem, Tenchu Silent Hill or Die Hard Trilogy kind of guy, but I thought FF10 was one of the best RPG's ever created. When I 1st saw the intro, I already knew, this was gonna be big. Nowadays I think the turn based combat system is a bit dated, but I would definitely play a remake of FF7, as an excuse to find out what all the fuss was about!

Yea man, I'd buy it. Like I say, 10 was a great game, even though I could never get past that semi-big boss dude with the robot suit who ambushes you in the snowy mountains where that lion-man (forgot his name) used to live. Halo was great, but that was when it was a new thing. Halo 2 was a good game, but it didn't really bring much new to the table. Halo 3? Fuck knows, I've never played it, I'm a dirty PS3 fanboy hahaha, Killzone is MY halo, and COD is whackness on a disc.
