Besides this one issue I find I have many of the same pros and cons as you. The music looping annoys me as it fades out, pauses and then starts over. On long songs it fades out before they even finish! My music uses the same instruments but the slide at the beginning of the intro and such is smooth, not choppy like yours.
Once I realized that I could just run through the levels and not kill anything, the game became less fun but I still play this regularly.
Try it! Press Fire, Left and Up at the same time all on the D-PAD. What does it do? That's right, at least on my phone, for some reason this registers as you hitting the CLR button to change weapons. Meaning that, if your thumb is too big (mine is not huge) you are screwed. You accidentally try to move diagonal up-left or up-right and shoot or just accidently mash your thumb and you will go to the menu and thanks to pressing up.. move to quit and you will probably be firing with 5 anyway and bam
Yes.. that's right. The clear button right under the D-Pad is what you hit to change weapons, but it also quits. Not to mention.. don't forget that you can't switch weapons while another one is already fired. This will REALLY cause you to accidently quit as this AUTOMATICALLY pops up the OTHER menu he was talking about WHICH HAS QUIT ON IT ALSO.
But still, there were times where I swore it would quit automatically. Try this, try pressing ALL ON THE D-PAD, fire, and two directions at once...
... but the old projectile goes away. I've learned to live with it though, it's not as bad as..
2) THIS is what REALLY drives me FUCKING NUTS.
When you are using Flash, Metal, Crash, 1, 2 or Heat you are on the second weapons menu. This is fine and all BUT QUIT IS THE LAST OPTION. I can seriously not tell you HOW many times I've been in an intense battle (mainly the boss of Wily #2 anymore) and .. OOPS. I'm back at my dial pad on my phone immediately with "2 5 5 5 5" typed in.
I have a similar, if not the same, phone as yours it's an Samsung SCH-A950. At the very least, I was surprised to see that the key pad is EXACTLY the same which made me happy as it annoys me quite a bit.
The sad thing is, I can control this game GREAT. Just like you I use the left hand on the 'd-pad' and the right on 2 and 5 for jump and shoot.
My problems with it are 1) like you, you cant switch weapons when you want. I just now realized that on the NES you can but the old projectile goes
Almost all the problems with this game that you talk about is simply due to the limitations of the mobile format. It's not made for games and is a poor format for them. The N-Gage tried to fix this by being a phone and portable game system combo but it sadly ended up flopping.
what about Echo Man?? nah...j/k, im playing this mobile version as well, I cant get through that dragon part on the normal version and it's starting to be a pain.
oh sorry I totally forgot to mention it, I used Adobe Premiere Pro when I made this originally... for some odd reason that was the source of the echo.
what's up with the echo?

I'm using the LG Rumour and it looks completely different than yours...
My bullets are still red yes, but my background does show on most stages and the waterfall is semi-antimated.
Like most games, it all depends on your cell phone. PLUS mine definally has better sound.

I got it straight from my downloads section from my phone. It'll depend on you're carrier, but look into it. Sorry for the late-ish reply as well.
