A samurai highly respects his katana as a person, as a partner, therefore he will not throw his katana into the river like you see in this video (4:26).
The procedure of the harakiri was as far as I`m concerned correct. Though the "second" would usually of course en his pains after a short amount of time.. :)
But for him not to do it, as kind of a point in the film right..^^" I think the killing of the princess and her lover (?) could have seemed more real, especially the guy. But overalll, nice job ;)
I have to say, out of most home created representations of Seppuku, this one held the greatest respect for the culture and way of life. I find shame in thoughs who would be so free with how people forget the way people live and die. If you want gore and screaming and nothing but trashy disrespect for how and what Seppuku really was, go some where else. I am not praising this video or deminishing it. But I do have to say thank-you for Honouring the truth and idea of Seppuku that Holywood tainted.
I don't care what other people say... nicely edited piece... It may not be the most authentic illustration of the feudal times but a good fictional short film non the less!

Where was his filmed, upstate New York? No amount of bad poetry and fake cherry branches will ever convince me ritual suicide was ever a good idea.

Nicely done for an amateur production.

ya ruined the period aspect with the 20th century window and drapes. Other than that, this is really quite good.
