  • Amateur band??? woww they sound very pro to me!!!! and master Miyashiro doing his thing as well!!! SUPERB!!

  • but i would say eric and wayne b are my fave two trumpet players at this moment ...if you get a hold of the mf tribute concert dvd at end when patrick eric and wayne take turns in rocky eric and wayne but patrick to shame

  • @bluedevils2002 have you ever heard Dave Stahl?

  • yeah if you close your eyes you would think your hearing mf in his prime ....but i seen someone talking about mf lead trumpet player patrick hession no offence but eric blows patrick out of the water tone power range and so on....patrick sound like hes playing out of a tin can...but i do give him credit because he was mfs lead for couple years

  • Yeah Eric, that last B was crazy man.

    take care,

    larry f

  • This guy was blowin lead for Sammy Davis Jr.'s band when he was 14. 14! He's pushing 50 now. Watch the breath control and phrasing. And to circle-breathe on top like that? That's talent.

  • Monster

  • wow!

  • This is Mc Arthur Park, is Very good!!

  • Eric plays maynard's stuff.....like a boss!

  • Happy lives? Are you an Idiot. They were all on junk. They lived at extremes.

  • Exactly. They were happy since they were so freaking wasted on junk they didn't know which end was up...Coltrane, Davis, all of em. They lived fast, died before their times, and spent more time high than sober. Sad, but true.

  • He is not trying to be a model - if you close your eyes and listen, you can see how truly talented he is. Regardless of creed, color, age, or attractiveness, this guy rocks. Tolerance is part of what it takes to be truly happy in life.

  • What a beast. This is some of the cleanest in tune power trumpet heard.....unreal, unstoppable chops.

  • holy crap... the endurance it must take to have played the gig..

  • Eric was a real monster in his days with Buddy Rich circa 1986-87.

  • Incredible talent. Thanks for sharing this video.

  • this guy does the jazz equivalent of a sexy bukkake

  • I love his shakes. Eric's shakes sound more like a hand shake than a lip trill. Maynard (mainly in his last 25 years) sounded like just an extremely wide lip trill rather than a shake. With Eric you could hear the break in between partials in his shake whereas Maynard's sounded like a trombone slide up 48 octaves. lol. Both are extremely talented. *jealous*

  • The Boss will always be the Boss..but guys like Eric comes damn close!

  • cool :D

  • What a Legend. He just stepped out of Maynards shadow. This must've been the world's toughest gig.

  • What a beast.

  • I'll bet there are under 10 players in the world that could live through that monster of a set.

  • probably less

  • Wow, Eric. Fantastic Player. Thats all i got to say!

  • wow, if there is a person who comes s=close to maynard, its this dude, he's amazing!

  • GONNA FLY NOW. YEAHHHH!!!! :DDDDDDDD

  • mmm kwunch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow... This guy has got quite a lot of endurance.

  • genius

  • monster!

  • Heard Eric play last night - what a great sound. It was very cool to hear some Maynard tunes performed live.

  • That is pretty incredible, but does anyone notice that he is falling off a little. Heard any of his new stuff?

  • ... ok, its fantastic playing high and loud like that... but sometimes its nice to hear some smooth, sweet phrasing too.

  • pretty f*ckin tight! and as previously mentioned, all in one sitting.

  • All this in one sitting? Shit, what a concert. Eric shure does have some leather lips. Makes mine hurt just watching, and I play lead.

  • Mark Zauss is pretty beast too.

  • He's so clean, all the time! He's definately using the wedge breathing method, helps a lot.

  • oops....couldn't care less...lol.

  • Best Maynard I've heard thus far, he's got just a little more of Maynard's .....soulfulness when playing this shit. Have listened to Englebright(too perfect), Shew and saw Ingram live...all good, well, Shew was having a rough go of it. All good overall just not as dead-on as this. I think there's something to be said for making a small mistake every now and them...more human. Hey tinterow.....lighten up, its only trumpet and the rest of the world could care less.

  • what about pat hession?

  • I agree....Hession has the closest style to maynard that I have heard

  • Hession's sound is too narrow to match maynard. Eric's sound is much wider.

  • ur right englebright is too perfect for his own good.damn those tastee bros

  • Hey! Genius! At the end of Danny Boy, it's a Double "C" slurred down to "B" below the staff! Good work UpperRegister! Another fine example of an amateur trying to play and comment on the trumpet!

  • Eric is awesome but theres something about his tone that bugs me

  • WOW, Eric is the MAN!!

  • Wow that is some pretty incredible playing by Eric covering all those charts by MF in one concert setting. Eric is the first trumpet that Ive heard who got the slur from DHC to middle C right on Danny Boy, Bravo

  • Eric always sounds great, but I definitely think he ate his Wheaties on that day! WOW!!!

  • I love Eric Miyashiro. Great videos, Keep them coming!
