I wish that Americans would get as upset as this audience was when greedy corporations outsource jobs overseas, but ignorant Americans still buy Chinese made goods at Walmart.
I was at that match and it was crazy! The chairs started to fly and I was glad not be sitting at the ringside seats. Little did I know that I would be training for proffessional wrestling in December of that year wow! I was trained by Johnny Powers and I met Ernie Ladd at the colleseum. Ladd was one of nicest people I met all of the guys in the locker room. If anyone has any old Powers and Ladd videos from cleveland please share them, thank you.
The heart punch evokes all of the wrong feelings about pro wrestling. You know exactly what it is designed to do, and no matter how much you tell yourself "it's all an act" it still raises the hair on your neck in a bad way. If it had been any other move, nobody would have reacted at all.
I was there that night....The Old Cleveland Arena was packed...I remember my dad and my 2 uncles grabbing us up and pulling us out of there....Those people went wild that night.....As far as I knew back then it was all real.....
i miss the good ol days when wrestling was at its best now all we have is the WWE that fucking boring ass shit!!! glad to have been a little kid back then watching great times
OX BAKER , he really did what he did...he killed three people because of the hart punch and sent many other wrestlers home looking for mommy and new careers...
@dimensionalyspeaking Oh Please, he didnt actually kill anyone it was just an unfortunate turn of events that were coincidental. With the way wrestlers were back then their health was not exactly a "top priority".
Sorry for the men who passed on but it doesnt seem to have been his doing.
I remember when Roddy Piper was battling with "Quickdraw" Rick Mcgraw and Rick passed on after a match and Piper couldnt have been blamed for that either
He did not. One man died from a ruptured appendix and another died from clogged arteries due to overeating. He died in the dressing room and not in the ring.
Never understood why fans today won't do that, we could put an end to Triple H's shenanigans real quick if we all just banded together and stormed the ring.
We were so gullible back then, weren't we? But the wrestling looked far MORE real than what it looks like today. Loved seeing Ox Baker quaking in his boots after he realized he was a dead man if those fans caught him!
Only in Cleveland would Ernie Ladd be a face! Ox Baker was the host at a sneak peek showing of Jaws. I won tickets from radio station along with 50 others. Ox would growl and act menacing when local news cameras were on but was a sweetheart of a guy when they were off. Real friendly. 1975 or 76 I believe
@bruiser yea thats why the heart punch killed a man . ox hit him so hard that after the guy broke his wrist he went pale went to get a long cold shower toweled off heaved twice and lay there dead. cause of death damaged valve in his heart . the cops pulled a sawwed off shotgun on ox and told him to get to out of town the man he hit was dead . look it up in sex , lies and head locks . page 40, 41

The victim was Ernie Ladd, the other guy in the ring with Ox who makes a sprint to the back was Johnny Powers.
