no that was the first MJOLNIR suit it had a reflective covering instead of energy shields and his name was Sam. they board a covenant ship and sam gets shot. the suits could handle space but not with a hole in the side of it. Sam ends up staying and detonating the nuke inside the ship while john leaves. thus becoming the first casualty of the war against the covenant(unless you count that new book harvest, or first contact or something forgot the name).
