for mac users, holding shift while clicking the restore button doesn't work. try the options key and left-click on the restore button. :) anyway, thanks for such a useful information :)

fucking itunes just wants to make it even more difficult to upgrade or restore an ipod.

mine was recently restored by accident so i had to downgrade to 2.2.1 because that's the only firmware that it would let me use. it's either that or wait 4 hours for itunes to download their fucking "official" firmware.

I figured the proiblem! Download the file from felixburns using CHROME. It will be downloaded as IPSW and not ZIP. And it will work!
