@NEON98Gaming My apologies. I thought you meant the ratings. Just draw the boxes with the Line Tool (U). Draw one line, hold down shift to constrain it. Keep holding shift to add more lines to that vector layer. Change the colour of the line by double clicking on the swatch for that layer in the layers palette. Adjust the lines you've already drawn using the Direct Selection Tool (A). The various symbols for the technical specifications box can be found online. Good luck!
@NEON98Gaming I should have been more specific: google image search for 'BBFC 15', for example. There are heaps of high resolution markings out there. Good luck.
@NEON98Gaming Well, since you're in the UK, it would make sense to get your own country's markings. Just google BBFC 15, or the appropriate rating, and you should be able to find an image.
@DoubleDtheofficial The ratings advice and artwork can be downloaded from the Australian government classification website. Click on Classification Markings > Classification Markings Downloads. You want the ones for film and computer games, obviously!
Thanks so much for making this video. When I print this from photoshop will it print out exactly the right size? What if I save it as a jpeg, then print that out, will it print as the right size? Thank you again

thank you, this was one the the best most well constructed tutorials i have ever seen and i have learned a lot of techniques from this video and because i love your photoshop tutorials i am going to subscribe :D
@SupercomputerGx Does anything else appear on the back cover? You have to be careful about the masks that we set up at the beginning to separate the front and back covers. That could be where your problem is. If all else fails, drag that image layer to the top in the layers palette and you should see it then.
@jeffhardy3457 A document that size, assuming scaling is turned off, should fit the DVD case perfectly. If your DVD cases are slightly different, measure them up and choose Image > Image Size...
superb tutorial playlist not only did i learn lots of useful websites on the way, i learned tones of new things i can do with photoshop thank you very much, i have subscribed i will send you the dvd cover I made.
@ricky5903 At the Australian government classification website: classification.gov.au. Or, you know, the appropriate website for whichever country you're in!
Phukking Brilliant!! Normally I dont write Nobody but Damn Ibrett78, You are da man! I had to let you know that this was a Life saver!! A Last minute, Big Client and I never made a DVD Cover but the one I did make for the client, they LOVED it!! I used your tutorial as a template and you were VERY clear n explaining your process. Thank you. Clients happy and I'm happy. Keep em coming!
oh i know these questions might sound really stupid to you but does this only work for horror dvd covers because im working on a action/mystery/romance dvd :]
The style of this cover is horror but the techniques themselves could be applied to create a cover in another genre, you just have to be aware of the conventions of that style. You need to find high resolution classification artwork for your country, open it in Photoshop, then drag the layer containing the ratings into your DVD cover document. We're lucky in Australia because high resolution ratings advice is free and easily available. Good luck!
This is really good. But it looks like it took a lot of hardwork. I'm still going to try it and thanks for the tutorial this is just what I needed!!:)
Omg man, you are very helpful !! God bless you for this tutorial... I just started today using photoshop and by following your steps i myself created a cover already. Thanks again 5 stars !!
This is probably my first real time using Photoshop as school didn't permit me to have the time to mess with it before. But I have to say, your tutorial taught me so much in so short of a time period! I feel like a pro now. By far, this was the best tutorial I have ever seen on youtube. You explain things thoroughly while utilizing your videography features properly. I think you should make a library of lessons and sell it online or DVD. Your hot keys tips saved me time and wrist pain too!
it be good if there was a website or book that tell you why the big people in hollywood select certain fonts, colours, images, for there covers. And what they represent.
That's a good point, Nigel. I think one of the things we can do is just be observant. And, like I suggested at the beginning, if you're embarking on a design project like this one, immerse yourself in as many examples as you can. That's why I love the interwebs...so easy to find this stuff!! Also: search for Trajan movie font at YouTube.
great job.

@NEON98Gaming The options bar at the top of the screen when you select the line tool. Just set a weight and draw it again.

@NEON98Gaming It's clearly just a path, without weight…draw the line again making sure that it has weight.

@NEON98Gaming It's possible that your text is hidden underneath another layer. Without seeing it, I'm afraid I really can't tell.

@NEON98Gaming You can adjust the width of a path in the Options bar at the top of the screen before you draw it.
