  • Ima firin my laser!!!!!!!!!

  • Formula 1 is of course a dangerous sport, but: They slowed the cars down, quited racetracks which were to dangerous. Ralf Schumacher has had two bad accidents at Indy either, his back was hurt. He was driving at 310 + kph. Look how fast Indycars are going! They are smaller, lighter, faster AND saver! But it is unpredictable at this speeds how a crash ends. Flying cockpit first into the fence would have killed EVERY open wheel driver!

RIP Dan Wheldon! My best wishes to your family and friends!

  • suicide races for the death ...where r the protections?...and the sand at the turns?

too much speed 4 so small racetrack...no protections for the fueltank...stupid races

  • "It looks like Dan Wheldon maybe involved in it" and no one knows he's dead. Motorsport can be so sad. R.I.P. Dan Wheldon

  • indy car is pointless without these crashes, the only fun a viewer can get is when this stuff happens(crashes) other wise this type of racing is dull just going arround in circles without a race strategy, you cant even race under rain. indy should quit its operations and save the pilots life or race in real circuits. RIP Dan Wheldon a Great Driver.

  • Who needs this championship? It is too dangerous now

  • The five lap salute was nice, but they should have run on the limiters on the final pass and the crowd should have collectively screamed along with the engines, the name of the deceased "Wheldon!"

  • my respect for wheldon as driver..but he try to pass some people..due to the accident ahead of him..and decide to go to the upside of track..then tracy..was right there..and hit his rear tyre ..was awful and so quick..spit..decision.cost his live..but the reason is too small oval track for so many cars..too many risks..until it happen again

  • Just like Ayrton Senna's death and F1, IndyCar now needs to question its safety.

This is very sad to see, rest easy Dan Wheldon.

  • @LxE100 at least his lengend lives on through his family than someone who died, then forgetton.

  • 10 deaths since 94, and a further 12 in nascar ! shame on you ! the gov bodies of these series should be held accountable for these losses ! gambling with ppls lives ! you are a disgrace to motor sport !

RIP Dan you will be missed :(

  • @doncorneoli

yes its sad BUT thats why its the highest paid sport and they know that they can die because of it.

  • @qonpeltier Indycar is not highest paid sport. For example Basketball, football and formula 1 have bigger annual salaries.

  • @qonpeltier

That doesn't matter! There are NO racing deaths since '94 in Formula 1, mostly thanks to the work they've put into safety! And Formula 1 isnt exactly a walk in the park either (Kubica Montreal 2007 for example)

  • @doncorneoli And uhh, since 2001 2 in indy car, none in NASCAR, get your facts straight before you open your mouth and spread your ignorance across the world

  • @doncorneoli nobodys died in NASCAR since 2001

  • @doncorneoli the only ppl that gamble their lives is the person behind the steering wheel

  • Wow.... lost for words. Tragic.

  • RIP Dan Wheldon!!! You will be missed alot!! </3 Taken by His hands!! God has another angel up in Heaven now!! Watch over your family Dan

  • "It looks like Dan Wheldon may be involved in it..." R.I.P Dan Wheldon, 22 June 1978 – 16 October 2011

  • Notwithstanding the awful end to Dan Wheldon's short life, this is actually still proof that safety in motor racing has improved exponentially. Why? Because 20 years ago, one death could easily have been 5 or even 10 in this accident. The others would almost certainly have been left with terrible injuries that kept them from ever racing again. I'm heartbroken about poor Dan, but also thankful that several others survived.

  • His car was the one that flew in the air and hit the wall causing it to explode...pause at 0:10

  • Still can happen in F1 and has happened in F1, the fact is the driver's head is exposed and a high speed shunt can send a driver flying into something that can collide with his head.

  • another ESPN video uploaded without permission....FLAGGED.....it's coming down sucker....have a nice day :)

  • 1:20 DAMN, I thought that I recieved a message in facebook -.-

  • @18erSchnabeltier Lol me too

  • @18erSchnabeltier So did i!

  • Я люблю эти гонки, но не аварии с таким исходом, а борьбу бок-о-бок

  • poor guy, it wasn't even his fault

    RIP Brother

  • At 1:45 you see Wheldon`s car get air.

  • It's very ironic that his dashcam was the first thing to capture the crash :( it was like a premonition almost

    R.I.P. Dan Wheldon!

  • also i want to point out this is exactly why nascar implemented the restrictor plate to keep their cars from flipping through the air at 220-230 MPH

  • these cars are dangerous always has been my opinion no protection for the head which is most likely what happened here

had he been in a nascar and flipped like that he may have lived

  • if only charlie kibbles would have stayed a little higher dan wouldnt have flown :(

  • I love NASCAR and I occasionally watch Indy racing but I really wish I didn't turn into the race to see this. My heart hurt seeing this. Scary though how we were onboard for the last seconds of his life. RIP Dan Wheldon.

  • @dogginheat racin is not only for rednecks I know plenty of non-rednecks that love racin im a redneck myself I personally don't care for it.

  • В бетонном кольце проводить гонки индикар - преступление.

  • they need to ban this redneck inbred sport so white folk can really find something intelligent to do with their lives besides cornholing their moms and sisters ohh and driving around in circles at high speeds

  • @dogginheat Grow a brain.....and then grow up, little boy.

  • @dogginheat your such and ass Dan Wheldon was a great man not a redneck he was from england you uneducated bastard. R.I.P Dan Wheldon

  • Dumb fucken red necks going hella fast in a circle go figure?

  • @dogginheat Weldon was a "dumb fucken red neck?"

Eat shit and die, you clueless douchebag!

  • @logansGT no i wont have for dinner what your moms cooking

  • Respond to this video... no no i dont eat your moms coooking

  • @logansGT i think that who ever the person was who made that channel, only created it to piss people off b/c it aint there anymore...some people only care about themselves and i think we've found one of them

  • @dogginheat I'm a NASCAR fan first, IndyCar 2nd. You are coming across as an insensitive man! I hope you learn from the mistake you made by posting in the first place.

  • creepy how we were on board with him and they were talking about him just before the crash..rip dan

  • Since Dan was a proud Briton who loved living in the US, I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate the anti-American brigade hijacking his death. It's a sad irony that most of us in the UK are only reading about this guy's amazing life because of its tragic end. Haunting to think that, in the brief on-board footage, we effectively see the last images that Wheldon ever knew.

  • @GoDogcats this is the point at which they get huge restrictions and become much slower, like the banning of turbos in f1

  • driving round in a circle takes no amount of skill, america's idea of motorsport i guess.. f1 drivers are much better

  • Very unsettling that this clip starts with the perspective from #77 - the car of Dan Wheldon

  • I'm also curious as to why people seem to think he was killed in a fireball... sorry but the cars don't run on gas they run on methanol so there is no flame... the fire ball you see is the oil and hydraulic fluid burning, a brief flame that any standard drivers suit can easily withstand. He wasn't killed by the fire, it was the sudden impact with a concrete wall.... even if there had been no fire he would have been toast.

  • @tommyleehog i agree, fire doesn't kill them, they're in like 4 layers of fireproof clothing...

  • You know people need to realize that no driver was forced to race. No one put a gun to any drivers head and said you have to be an Indy Car driver, that was a choice the driver made... so please stop the stupid only in America BS... If anyone babbling like that had a clue they would realize that these races don't only exist in the US they happen in other countries as well...

And yes it is more dangerous than F1 because it has a concrete wall... if you make a mistake you pay a price.

  • which one was him in the accident?

  • @iamyou330000 the car that flies over charlie´s car at 1:41

  • Stupid sport. You run at full speed, make 1 mistake and you crash into concrete. If you're lucky, you'll get hit by a an on coming car at full speed. Oval racing should be banned.

  • @AhBen567 go watch your sebastian vettel parade races, tard.

  • These cars don' t belong on these types of tracks bunched up, it's an accident waiting to happen.

  • wow only just heard of this VERY sad day in racing i watch kiwi scott dickson race in indycars so dan rest in peace mate

  • That is why f1 is much better as a sport - safety and cautiosness first!

  • Rest in Peace

  • Stop discussing the bloody catch fence, that's exactly what kills. You american health and safety freaks should have thought of moving the wall out by hundreds of yards. But then the spectator would be too far from the action. Well, choose your medicine carefully.

  • @drstevenrey Here we go with american this...american that...how about keep the argument in reality.

  • @anointedsword You are right of course, just another situation to discuss american sport. However, only in Americaland do we have exactly this situation. Stupid bowl, lots of walls and a rediculous catch fence. Where in the rest of the world does this exist? Before we discuss this as an american issue lets make clear that this is a american issue only and exclusively. Nobody else is this irresponsible towards race drivers.

  • @drstevenrey so agree... Its so shocking for us to see, but for americans this is normal.

  • The brutal truth is that racing with open cockpits will always be incredibly dangerous whether you improve the catch fencing or not. RIP Dan.

  • You cant blame the catch fence - look at what happened at le Mans in 1955 without it - half a ton of flaming magnesium ploughing through the crowd. Blame the fact of having 34 cars doing 200+ on a tiny track - one mistake and there's only one way it can end. A sad sad day.

  • @SuperPipistrellus going top first doesn't help either. R.I.P Dan Wheldon

  • it's that fcking catch-fence. so many drivers have been mashed up by it and yet they have not improved it!

  • R.I.P.(

  • блин, кому в жопу нужны такие гонки... В ф1 такого просто не могло случиться!

  • @stil2205 Google translate is broke as a joke. it says thats means this """fucking in the ass who need such race in F1 ... this just could not happen!""" .....................like what google?

all that aside RIP dan wheldon

  • @Bouchaneusmc It probably means: "Fuck that shit, what kind of race is that? 34 cars, narrow track, +200mph... In F1 that couldn't just happen (since it's safer)."

  • Кошмар....

    R.I.P.

  • sounds like a porno with all the grunting

  • R.I.P

  • It's a dangerous sport, and you're always taking a huge risk getting seriously injured or killed when you get in those lightning fast cars. It's a shame, because he was only 33 years old with 2 very little children that are now without a father. Why couldn't it at least be someone without kids? Rest in peace.

  • @LxE100 Just because someone doesn't have kids does not make them any less important than another human being that does have kids. That was an ignorant statement.

  • @lizis712 I'm sure he meant that there wouldn't be any grieving children left behind if he didn't have kids .

  • @lizis712 I said, "Why couldn't it at least be someone without kids?" as in anyones death is a horrible thing, but I'd rather see a man with no kids die, than a man with kids. Every man is equal, but it wouldn't be as bad if someone without kids died. That is not an ignorant statement, and to say that it is, is the ignorant statement. Just think rationally, and you will see why you're wrong.

  • @sprucecreek07 The man's just died and you're cashing in? You're a dick.

  • ужасно :(

  • I dident see him dead wtf

  • @Mrrandy323 You are a douchebag.

  • @eightrac fuck you

  • @Mrrandy323 Go fuck yourself, fucking idiot. Why on earth would you want to see someone die. I have an idea for you. Set up a camera and kill yourself.

  • R.I.P Dan Wheldon

  • seen it live ... R.I.P.

  • RIP Dan Wheldon. You will forever be immortalized in Indycar fame as a @ time Indianapolis 500 winner and an Indycar champion.

  • WOW that's crazy......RIP DAN WHELDON

  • so sad... Many prayers out to his family after this. He will always be missed.

  • This is terrible. I was there in person to watch him win his first Indy 500, he was an amazing driver and I feel deeply sorry for his poor wife and two young children who now will grow up without their father.

  • Omg my friend just told me to watch this then he told me its his cousins and his friend:( rip :(
