the umpires did not help the situation - they hardly look as if they are about to make a judgement on a run out. if they had been on their game they should have given bell out immediately the bails were removed and then gone to the replay for confirmation that the game was still live. the umpires 'non' actions contributed to the belief of some players that the ball was dead. i believe the umpires incompetence cost india this wicket

Get the grip India and England played in different situation India played in Green track where as England played in pitch were Ball neither swinged or Spinned (Ball got wet where ever it entered outer field , thus making difficult for bowler to grip a ball). @divsaz1 Ha, forget it. I hope India bring it in the one dayers too! While I'm happy England are on top in the test, I would have preferred to see a real competition. Not sure why we were so much better this time, but it won't be long before India come back.

As far as India is concerned, we are completely outplayed and lost!! Indian players need to get the confidence back and at least give them a fight. I don't think that this is going to happen anytime soon though.

the umpires did not help the situation - they hardly look as if they are about to make a judgement on a run out. if they had been on their game they should have given bell out immediately the bails were removed and then gone to the replay for confirmation that the game was still live. the umpires 'non' actions contributed to the belief of some players that the ball was dead. i believe the umpires incompetence cost india this wicket

@w423350 what are you talking about you idiot? The umpires did go to the replay and gave him out, rightly so. Nothing to do with anyone's incompetence apart from Ian Bell's. The decision by India to reverse their appeal was entirely their own. It was the right thing to do as there was confusion caused by the various factors, Imagine if England had done this to India IN India? There'd have been riots! Besides... it had zero effect on the outcome of the game, he only scored another 20 runs.

@Kr8mer you clearly don't understand what im saying. you can see the umpires are not aware of what is happening. the umpires were ready for tea just as ian bell was and they were not paying attention. there was obvious doubt that the ball had reached the boundary and a batsman was clearly out of his ground. they should have been ready to see the bails removed and give ian bell out. then there would have been no debate

Dont make it an issue mates..it would hve created a controversy either way..we must understand that we never deserved to win..the way we batted(except for Dravid),the way we bowled & the way we fielded(except for Raina) was not upto the mark in any sort of imagination..There was only 1 team that deserved the win and being an Indian I really dont want that we lose the top spot but to be honest,the way english team is playing,they truly deserve the top ranking.

Don't know why Indians are getting so worked up...the game was gone already India had no chance of a comeback, it only cost 20 odd runs and instead of getting booed for the rest of the series the Indians were cheered for being gentlemen.
Flower and Strauss had every right to ask Dhoni to reconsider his appeal as they wanted to avoid the incident spiralling out of hand in the media and in the crowd; they made a gentlemens agreement, which is perfectly within the laws of the game as well.

England are cheats- Bell is a cheat. If i was a honest and really passionate about sportsmanship bell should have spoken when the incident happened and england should have let the issue drop. But England are cheats - leaves a foul taste in my mouth. India to me look like a side so badly prepared for these tests, should have been sharper before coming to play in UK.

We all talk about sportsmanship and fairplay to India, but where is the sportsmanship of the guilty team i.e England - Bell's lack of concentration and poor decision led to him being run out. But this is the real question the media haven't picked up on and that is the sportsmanship of England when england continually plead behind closed doors to reinstate a guilty man or the sportsmanship when Ian Bell afterwards the match admits to being guilty of being run out. India should have been strong!
