I have a 1986 YZ125, and 2006 CR 125. The Yamaha is faster by far. THEY DON'T MAKE 2 STROKES LIKE THEY USED TO. Damn kids. Stop saying it's a piece of crap unless you have ever ridden one, They were made with sturdier parts and weigh exactly the same. The major manufacturers were in their prime with 2 strokes in the mid 80's early 90's because they EPA wasn't on their ass to make them clean. Trust me the old motors run like a bat out of hell.

@adamacin34 I had an 87 yz 125 But I had the top redone, pipe silencer by DG, Wiseco piston & rings, and Ohlens suspinsion...and I too would put money down that that bike would still whoop ass. Just go to my page at face book and see the bike , rider, and the trophies. I only raced a couple of races... And that was from 90 to 91. And I was on an 87?

they were anemic down low, and in sand it was a task to keep the power on.

@ssrider7 Should be getting a gopro cam in a week , 10 or less years ago the 2 strokes ruled the mx scene Ive been riding for 20 years and if you are any type of riding vet yourself you know im right when it comes to 4strokes being easier to ride Im the only one left in my group riding a smoker and a 125 at that . havent ridden a 125 since I was 15 until a few months ago but I will definitley post some vids of my 125 making a bitch outta a 4s Kawi or 2 just for you bud .

@XXRichieXXrichXX no man if we are talkin about race bikes then four strokes constantly have rto require you to check valve clearance , clean air filter 2 x a month. also way more things that could fail, valves, cams, etc.. a two stroke can go a full season with an avg rider with one maybe two rebuilds if he really rides it which only cost 200 or less. while if you do not keep up on the maitenance of a racing four stroke then it will cost 1500+ for a rebuild and youd have to get someone to do it

the bike stefan fode was 4 shure a 1990 model, the 1991 was with magenta seat and 1989 with blue :)

nope the yzs had 2 different seats the older ones like 89 and i think the 1994 had white with blue seats and stuff, 1990 has either the striped Yamaha seat or the regular Yamaha seat, and same goes with yz125s up to 1994.

A 1990 bike isn't very "shocking" at all! The big factories hardly changed their 2-strokes at all after the '90s, and development before that wasn't very fast as it was. If someone really wants to give people a shock, they should do it on a bike that at least looks different. Let's face it, the 1990 bike could look exactly like a new one if they changed the plastic. Get someone on an air-cooled dual-shock bike, like a 1981 Maico 250. It's competitive with new stuff, and looks way older.
