  • i enjoy natto with green onion, mustard, soy, and a drop or 2 of sesame oil on rice. sooo good and filling!!

  • i ate it realized it tastes strange and swallowed it

dad ate it realized it tastes strange then spat it out haha lol

  • I think it does take 3 to 4 times considering that frozen and it comes in a pack of 3 or 4. I'm on my third one and grew to love it. What made it unbearable at first was the bitterness, but season and mixed well till slimy it is gooey goodness. 8P

  • @titojwonnie getting ready to eat one right now!

  • Where do you purchase Natto?

  • @MoonsAndStarz22 I get mine at a Japanese grocery store in the refrigerator section.

  • Normally people eat it with rice....which is nice!!!

but whatever makes you happy :)

  • I was in the Jet program Teaching english in japan and I LOVED! Natto. with some hot sauce. sounds gross, tastes great! Im going back next year to teach again ;D

  • @NameTheLlama Never tried it with hot sauce...I'll give it a shot. Like Sriracha hot sauce?

  • @mykylc Whats a meal without Sriracha!. thats exactly what they give you in some shops in japan with your Natto :)

  • @NameTheLlama that's what I always say!!! :D

  • Haha, the sound at 2:17 was worth watching you just eat natto. Unfortunately Japanese grocery stores don't exist here, only a Thai grocery and an international market (only really carries soba, udon, and ramune in the Japan section)

  • My Japanese teacher brought in Natto to try at school today. The 4 of us that were willing to try it ate it in 3 different stages one after the other;

1: Normal (unstirred no sauce or mustard)

2:Stirred with the packet of sweet sauce)

    3: With mustard

Obviously the 3rd one was the best. Now I crave like crazy but cant find where to buy it :/

  • @PerfidiousBanana Nice!!! I get mine at a Japanese grocery store.

  • Dang! I got to test to eat Natto too. :D

  • @HeiOlenMika Did you like it?

  • @mykylc Well I liked your video. Need to find a store in Finland to buy some Natto... You know I live there.

  • @HeiOlenMika Nice...I bet it's beautiful there.

  • i LOVEEEE natto. <3

    im korean

  • I want to taste it.. Too bad There is no Nattos in my country.. Haha.. xD

  • @xxitsmewooshi1xx what Country do you live in?

  • @mykylc Bahrain. :)

  • @xxitsmewooshi1xx wooo you are far away!!!

  • @mykylc Haha.. I dunno when on July Im traveling to malaysia.. and going to make some videos like you.. ;D

Say.. where do you live in?

  • @xxitsmewooshi1xx Very nice! That sounds exciting!! I live in Phoenix, Arizona in the U.S.

  • @xxitsmewooshi1xx yes malaysia!

  • i only heard of natto few days ago on a site called tempehonline where i bought my tempeh starter to make tempeh for the first time.cool i never knew that it was slimy.i love your curly hair! it is so neat!

  • @cherri7 I love it...it's sooooooo good. And thanks!

  • @mykylc doesn't let me post link

  • Tastes and smells like coffee..@sasukelover YES!! Mine is delicious in brown rice, garlic, leek, spices...

  • Very, very healthy..for bones and heart(vitamin k2) I make my own..wouldn't go near those styrofoam containers.

My homemade natto tastes delicious in brown rice, garlic, leek, spices... smells sweet unlike your natto.

  • @myrnaw do you have a recipe for this?

  • @myrnaw how do you DIY? dont you need cultures?

  • Very, very healthy..for bones and heart(vitamin k2) I make my own..wouldn't go near those styrofoam containers.

  • In my opinion natto kind of smells and tastes like coffee XD

I'm used to eating chinese fermented soybeans so the smell and taste are different and I kind of thought it would be a little similar when I first tried natto but it wasn't similar at all.

  • how do you eat so cleanly? I always get slime on my lips, and very awkward moments trying to untangle myself at the table.

  • @candygms hahahahaha In the beginning i used to get it all over...now, with practice, it only gets in my mouth!

  • So does this make you gasy?

  • @6thMessenger Not at all...it does you?

  • @mykylc

I haven't tried it yet. I have been looking around but at last check no stores near me carry natto. I am hoping with it's increase in popularity that our stores will start stocking it.

  • It looks like rice crispy treats before it cools ^_^

  • @stargatefansg1 hahahaha!!! It does!!!

  • If you are posting a video of you eating natto, you should also explain and possibly in detail what it tastes like.

  • you need to put it on hot rice, trust me

  • @saddlerackcowgirl

    You are absolutely right.

  • So far...out of all the videos I've seen so far lol... I really enjoy watching your natto videos... I don't know why... lolol I watched this a few times too lol Probably gonna rewatch it again lol

  • @holkinns ha! thanks!

  • Wow, I really got to try Natto, huh? I've always been afraid to try it because of the notorious smell and first taste.

But I love Japan, so I guess I can't call myself a real Japan enthusiast until I try it. xD

  • @LaughingNoiseStudios I hope you do!! It's good!

  • The Natto finally arrived! Going to try it in a few!

  • @mykylc haha probably not I'm camera shy :p I just scrolled through the comments and realized that you speak Japanese!

That's really awesome. I'm learning it myself :D

  • Hi mykyl! I finally found a website to buy natto and can't wait until it arrives! However it was really costly.

3€ for a pack with 3 portions and the delivery costs 9€ -_-

My question is how do you actually store it? Do you put the whole pack inside the freezer or the refrigerator? Or can you just leave it in room temperature?

    Thanks a lot!

  • @YenRou You will probably eat all three within a two week period so the fridge is fine. I take it they are cold shipping them to you? When I go to the store they are in the refrigerator section and I buy them cold and eat them cold as well. Don't forget to mix them up briskly to get them to activate!!! And they will come with little flavor pacs and mustard pacs in each individual package. Cheers...hope you enjoy. You should get it on video and reply with it here!

  • oh and you can try with egg rice and seaweed can you make a video eating kimchi?

  • You should try it with some rice its really good(:

  • @619JEFFHARDYLOVER that's how I have it most of the time now...with an egg too.

  • Natto would DEFINITELY be my desert-island food!

    Can't get enough of it.

(I'm Japanese, but don't hold it against me!) ; )

  • @TiramisuHappy I eat natto almost every day!! I love it now... Japan rulez!

  • haha everytime you eat natto there's always exactly one bean left

  • @TylorDeal hahaahhaahha!!!! right!

  • I find it kind of gross to eat with an egg... I love it with japanese mustard, soy sauce, and chopped up green onions over a nice hot bowl of rice

That's cool that you like it, I was raised by a Japanese mother so I figured it was only liked by people like me or other Japanese people! An acquired taste indeed. The strange part is that it smells pretty bad to me but when I eat it it tastes great haha

  • @StandardofPurity I am the same way...the smell is bad but it tastes so good.

  • lol another hit of natto, you make it sound like a drug.

  • superb with egg and soya sauce

  • You should eat the Natto with a raw egg and soy sauce

  • I am japanese and I like natto too. lazy part is we have to wash mouth after.

usually I dont watch man eating food zoomed-in to camera.

but urs is nice to watch. you eat properly and ur chopstick skill is very good :D..very smooth.

  • Are you into more pungent food?

I got hooked on natto the first time around but I also like the more pungent cheese like camembert and stuff like durian and stinky tofu.

  • @madhoyden come to think of it I probably am. I don't mind them that's for sure.

(^〜^) mmm...yummy!!!

  • Add a little bit of egg yolk makes it taste better. Try it and see if you like it.

  • do you keep it in the fridge?

  • @JODQ11 yes indeed.

  • Try it over rice with a raw egg mixed in... Good stuff!

  • @jamesjr934 I wonder if I should use a quail egg instead of a chicken egg.

  • @mykylc

I'd stick with a chicken egg, since (if i remember correctly) I didn't like quail eggs, although it's been 25+ years since I've tried one and it was cooked.

  • Natto is one of my favorite foods of all time, although I've grown up eating it. It's also good with a raw egg mixed in with a little extra soy sauce, over rice. in fact that's how I'm eating it as I type. Good stuff!

  • Natto is an acquired taste lulz.

I used to hate it but I eat it everyday for breakfast now :D!

Natto also has a lot of health benefits.

If you don't like it at first, try it with rice and something else. :)

  • Natto is not delicious unless it is in tune with warm rice

  • i agree, it taste like shit literally

  • What the heck is Natto? You got me looking now!

  • @JimboJitsu hahahahahah Fermented soybeans.

  • I think i'm definitely going to try it because of you! haha... Thanks for the videos! you are very charismatic!! haha. :)

  • i could eat 1 Kilo of them,every day.mhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • They are sooooo good.

  • yes ,hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ,

  • i love natt

    oooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • this was like 3 years ago, do you still eat it and enjoy it?

  • Almost every day... :D

  • wow, now im even more tempted to try it

ppl say its looks gross but i dont care i'll still try it

  • Do it...get it on video too. :)

  • @mykylc im might just do that, you can see my reaction to how good it actually is.

i was thinkin of starting a serious - trying weird looking food- and first up would be natto lol

  • I love it now...with everything and anything. I tried it for the first time in fried rice. I saw a recipe on youtube and made it. Darn good!

  • oooouh that looks so good!! I love rotten beans with slime

  • haha it looks like cheese! I love miso and duenjang (korean version of miso) so I'm pretty sure I will love natto..

  • where can i buy some?? can u tell me im soo curious on how this taste!!

  • in the fridge section of any Japanese grocery store if you have one around.

  • @mykylc can u describe the taste of it? i love japanese food but alot of people say it has a foul taste. Whats your opinion?

  • If you go by the smell I do believe you will think it tastes bad at first taste...and it did to me. But by the 4th time eating it...I was hooked. It's similar to burned coffee beans but not as strong. I tastes nothing like it smells. Give it a go. I think the worst part is how slimy it gets when you whip it around. If you want to cut down on that slimy texture...eat it over a small bit of rice.

  • natto looks really good, but what is the ideal temperature for eating it? or does it depend on the individual's taste?

  • I eat it cold...right out of the refrigerator now. Mix it up and then eat it plain, over rice, or over rice with an egg.

  • ok thanks, but just to make sure there is no right or wrong temperature to eat it at right?

  • right...my best guess would be eat it right out of the fridge after mixing...since it contains good bacteria. To over heat it may kill it off.

  • thanks.

  • VERY GOOD!

    from Japan

  • i love natto me too

  • I mean kids in Japan.

  • I love natto too!

There's a song that kids sing about natto called "natto musume". I don't know the lyrics. If sone Japanese person out there can teach 'em to me, i'll be great!

  • In Vocaloid, Rin and Len sing a song about Natto. It's called Never

  • wow... i just heard that, haha

    Rin rapping is awesome.

thanks for pointing it out for me :D

  • Just got to try this.

Mykylc, have you noticed any health benefits?

  • Most definitely. My digestion was pretty bad back in the day. I couldn't eat onions at all. My stomach would stop digesting when I did but with natto...no problem at all. The other noticeable thing...my skin. Much softer and not as dry as it used to be. Also, those patches of rough skin you sometimes get on your elbows...gone. I love this stuff. I know it helped with my bad cholesterol levels too.

  • Try it ! This is real how to eat natto in Japan. (I'm Japanese)

    1. First put a small amount of soy sauce and mustard to natto.

    2. Stir natto about 50 times.

    3. Put the sliced Leek (required).

    4. From there, stir natto 30 times further.

    5. Eat with hot rice (necessary). :-)

Preferably don't pull natto's thread when you eat.

And KUME NATTO is the real. Others is fake.

  • There are hundred of brands and surprisingly enough they all have their own unique flavor. It's often considered an acquired taste and the perceived flavor of natto can differ greatly between people; some find it tastes very strong and cheesy while others find it tastes "bland and unremarkable" requiring the addition of flavoring condiments such as mustard and soy sauce.

Closest I can come to...spoiled burned coffee beans.

  • i put natto in omelettes .. it's also good in a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato

  • oh wow i might try that. sounds pretty good

  • I love natto as well. I've been eating once a day for the past few weeks now. When I first tired it (by itself without those packets) I was prepared to be grossed out but it wasn't that bad, it was just the smell I had to get over. I even had some of my coworkers try it lol (they weren't too thrilled with it). Now I mix it with green onions and a dash of tamari soy sauce and it taste great. Mixing it with brown rice makes it even better. I even had my mother try it and she loved it.

  • Oh, people can get a tamati soy sauce in USA?

It's wonderful XD (it's popular with western Japan)

We often mix nattou & mustard. But if you care Natto's smell, you can mix with Wasabi or Korean kimchi (this style is not Japanese traditional, but yummy) :D

  • where do you live?

  • In Arizona.

  • when i first ate natto i didnt know what to think and it took forever for me to eat a small package. but 2 days later i was actually craving it weirdest thing in the world. i love natto man!

  • That's the same thing that happened to me!

  • This video has such an impact on me and completely shattered my long-standing unproved belief that people cannot eat natto unless they are Japanese.

We in Japan love to add a wide variety of ingredients on to natto, such as umeboshi, shirasu, okura and siso no ha, which is what you may already know.

Like other people in Japan, I could not live without rice and natto. definitely, I'm a natto-aholic.

    Anyway, nice video. 5 stars.

  • Thanks! I love it so much now. I actually crave it! I didn't realize there were so many different kinds so when I am at the Japanese grocery store...I get different kinds and love them all. :)

  • Natto is delicious, very good for you, and easy to make, I have been making my own for years.

  • would this go well on toast?

  • Yes CtrlAltDaLEET.....The Japanese usually eat natto with rice but it makes a delicious sandwich and is good spread on whole grain toast. People who eat natto daily are at a much lower risk for osteoporosis than the general population.

  • ahaha thanks for that, i will try it tomorrow morning

    :)

  • natto is the tasty stuff! Very good for you too!

  • HAHA!

THIS IS THE freakn BEST natto eating wiveo in the history of natto eating videos!

    i adore natto!

    but your crazay xD

    YAY KEep em' comin!!

btw, for people wondering where to buy natto you can get them a various japanese store.

here in CALIFORNIA you can go to ebisu and mitsua!

i would recomend mitsua because they have more natto variaties you can chose from.

the smell varies acording to freshness bytheway.

  • NICE!!!!!!!!!!

  • The taste wouldnt be so bad if the texture weren't so horrid.

  • Lol now I'm super curious about this stuff. So what does it exactly taste like? I've read some places that it smells horrid, but I don't know.

And can it be bought in the US, or do you have to get it on the net?
