Hill is an overrated defender. He's always been an overrated defender, occasionally he'd get a block or a steal but he never shut anybody down. Kobe was getting shut down all year long by all sorts of guys, from Manu (Manu shut him down like twice) to Harden.

Conley, Young, and others in the Mem series raped him by posting him up at will and rebounding on him because he was way too small.

In the Phoenix series it was Dragic and Nash that killed him, TP outplayed him on D.

He was traded because room needed to be made for Anderson/Green and more minutes for Neal. He's also a mentally weak player and that cannot be fixed, he's shown flashes of greatness throughout the season but has choked during the playoffs. The Spurs also desperately needed a SF like Leonard. Hill was a luxury which is why the Spurs traded him.

Hill plays good defense (not lock down) can shoot the J and the corner 3, not that good of PG but he can play it, plus he's a good guy.
