I have a question. I heard dysprosium displays special magnetic properties at a temperature below 85K. why does the temperature cause such a change in it's properties?
you did not mention that its name comes from "dysprositos" which means "hard to get". it came as last on a mineral sample that caused about 4 or 5 elements to be discovered and yes it caused a guy to almost go mad due to seeing all these different compounds that he thought was one element yet was not.
i dont get it , most of the elements look similar , how do they decide if its A or B. The only way i know is the electronic microscope, and that is quite expensive.
God I can listen to that paper rustle all day

Why is the sound of the "paper" rustling so lovely?

really quite nice paper .. love it :D

idk why but at 1:01 when he starts talking. I can only imagine him being a mad scientist in his later years.

You guys just made that up, there is no such thing as Dysposium..

Have we ever heard Pete say "Oh, this is a really quite disgusting element." ?

I love how the guy admires the paper.

silly chemistry, deep down inside you are physics.

That really is a quite nice sample of paper. Where can I get this "paper" you speak of?

@jlmadill thats NOT paper.

@jlmadill its not paper but dyprosium foil. Hope this helps!

I bet if it was highly toxic he would know about it.

dysprosium is so sexy

It would have been fun if he unpacked a chocolate bar instead.
I understand that dysprosium also is used with magnets?

Fascinating! Seems like a very important element

dysprosium can be cut with a knife. It's not too strong.

when i first saw pete i though that he was a student, not because he doesn't know what hes talking about but because he looks so young

He's quite nice himself, too! xD

I don't know if dysprosium is expensive, but I want to see it burn. It's supposed to be extremely flammable.

rekinu5 3 years ago 2
They look similar, but you can tell by its physical properties such as melting point or density, or chemical properties such as what it reacts with.
saintaureus 3 years ago 3
well thats a point but still a hard work. anyways , thnx bro.
