This is the only instrument I've ever been interested in I would kill for one of these... Too bad they cost so much :/ well the one i want anyway, the big one :D the alpha

BTW - it will only work on a MAC. It's not Windows compatible and you still need to hook it up to your stereo or guitar amp to get any kind of decent sound. The devil is in the details isn't he?
$5600 Are you guys out of your minds?? Then I have to use a computer to use it because it's useless without one. Not exactly portable. Admittedly it's very cool - as a very expensive toy. The drums sounds are as cheesy as any I've ever heard. No guitar patch??? Give me a break!!
I bought the Pico and there's a learning curve. they just announced the Tau which is half the price of the Alpha...I might jump there, but not the first 6 months...I want to exhaust my learning curve on this one first.
Nice enough, but it's not revolutionary. It's just a synth controller in a strap on configuration. Breath controller? Been done. Touch sensitive keys? Been done. Strap on controller? Been done.
I really love new instruments and how they change the approach to making music. But the Eigenharp has nothing that you can't do with a Keyboard and it looks totally uncomfortable. I guess with a programmable midi pedal board and an AKAI EWI you're able to do the same thing but it feels better. I doupt there is a future for this instruments unless they sell it for a few hundred bucks.
all synthed. midi rythem and patterns yull need a laptop but it comes with one native instrument like a standards built in one e.g cello but you cam change it
Is this designed to win over guitarists? Since there are no strings there is no need to have the neck be straight. Curved would have been much easier to play (for us non-guitarists).
But for a moment there I just stopped paying attention to the video because the music made me instantly picture Matt Damon trying to make his way to CIA headquarters.
That's pretty sick. I've heard some playing of it and sometimes it sounds a tad electronic-scratchy, but the layerings of sounds you can get is very cool and modern, while also being a bit classical, which I think is badass. I'd love to take lessons with this thing.
ppl once said Bach wouldn't be real music...but who the fuck cares? ;) as long you can make music with it and put some expression in it it's an instrument to me :)
This is amazing - Brilliant and innovative - pity I can't play music - but it does make me want to learn, but for a newbie this might seem overwhelming and maybe the pico version is something I should try. But I truly believe it will be a successful instrument - with even the likes of Moby or Tangerine Dream using it live soon would be fantastic! Good Luck guys!

Does it have a spit valve? Where does the condensed breath water accumulate?? Horn players will know what I'm talking about.

Traditional musical instruments, you are now obsolete. Enter the Eigenharp.

Its actually fairly easy. There is very little variation in the muscle memory to develop.

Man I'd love to hear this played with a VST like Prominy LPC/SC, or Wallander Instruments WIVI.
It's basicially a MIDI controller that comes with sounds.

Question, what SOUND does an eigenharp make?
ubuntubwoy 2 years ago
The music piece played is entirely on Eigenharp... i assume from what i've herd from the instrument so far
DemonDZ 2 years ago
The Eigenharp doesn't make any sounds. It has to be hooked up to a mac. It's basically a $6000 midi controller and sequencer.
sxptrvng 2 years ago
a BADASS $6000 midi controller and sequencer

Not Deep Forest music, its an unusual cover of Extreme Ways by Moby

The music on this commercial makes me dislike humans. If I had money, I wouldn't buy Eigenharp solely because of this Deep Forest music.

This is the wrong song for this instrument. It makes the Eigenharp sound like a keyboard. So I gues it is nothing like a string instrument? Right?
Shashkoila 2 years ago
... no ... no it's not a string instrument. This is indeed the perfect song for this video because it was probably made using an Eigenharp
