I am sure the 70's, 80's and 90's also had their "Justin Bieber" - you know: pop artists with no lasting qualities, but since time showed that they really were crap nobody listens to them anymore. And music today is definitely not dead. If you think it is, obviously you go to the wrong clubs, buy the wrong cd's, listen to the wrong radio stations and choose the wrong youtube videos.
with all the videos i remember one critic said look away and if the song sounded good then it is,sometimes the visuals can take away,so listen first then watch. sometimes you get a better sense of the song
So good to hear the younger generation likes this music. Its what i grew up to and its all i listen too now. Culture club, Huey Lewis, Phil Collins. The big hair bands like Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Judas Priest. Id say music died somewhere in the mid to late 90s Imo.
A face book friend remembers when Culture Club won a Grammy
Lexi's two cent: I will always remember Culture Club, as the only group who had my father singing their songs!…until BG got on television and said, " America certainly knows a good drag queen when they see one" apparently they jes know good music, because dad stopped singing Culture Club tunes after that…lexi

@gmccall22 I know people like Lil Wayne and Drake and Jay Z think they are so good. People at my school like that kind of music. Justin Bieber is a Beaver! Real music is the 70s, 80s and 90s. Music died in the 2000s and then it went on to be trash and turned to be garbage. Today's music hurts your ears. This is coming from a 13 year old. Seriously i'm 13 and my family agrees. I'm starting an army protesting against today's music. Bring back the old music. And tv shows! Join!
@rolandoyanez1 Why because of the way he looks?! Get a life! Real music is not the way people look. Go listen to Justin Bieber or the rest of the sucking artists today!
I liked this tune better than "Karma Chameleon", and always will. I think Culture Club would have fit in nicely with The Glam-Rock Movement of The 70's; I truly believe that. Too bad Boy George lost his hair; He looked glorious back in 1984.
I have researched these music categories for the past 9 years
and I have rediscovered tunes I had forgotten about or I discovered
new tunes that totally deserved the time it took to discover them.
In Itunes Store or Itunes Ping if you use the search terms "electrofunk" (as a single word) or "80s funk" the search result shall produce several lists that have "electrofunk" or "80s funk" in the playlist name in the "Playlist" category at the low left corner of the search result.
These lists have songs that (1) you may have heard before and enjoyed but forgotten or (2) songs that you may enjoy now but you have not heard before. These lists also include album cuts that were not released as singles and songs from lesser known yet solid groups/soloists such as Fatback, Kashif, Laid Back, D Train, Boys Don't Cry, and Dynasty.
Back in the 80's...when MTV was fun, cool to watch...I was 19 when mTV came to be...watched Culture Club with friends..made fun of Boy George, and alot of other vid's back then...GOD I MISS THOSE DAYS....
@Teebone211 WE WANT THE 80'S BACK! What's rap anyway?! Can't hear a word they say... LOL You know what? I turned to Eastern Music - It's actually pretty good. Indians have beautiful music and nowadays great movies. What happened to english/american music/movies culture?! What happened to the US of A and England?! We want it back!
@dcamargo86 And what does make sense? I suppose Lady Ga Ga and that Booty Bounce Crap that they play now? The 80s didn't try to be cool - they just were!
@whitemagic70 The song kicks ass, but the video just makes me laugh on bringing me to the times where almost every kind of weirdness were allowed in the music, without leaving the quality behind. That´s what i´m talking about.
The video is stylish - I love the Japanese tones - I am inspired to have a Japanese Garden next Summer - oh and I miss you blind Boy George - your fan forever here in Burton Michigan USA!
Love this song....I bought this on 45....yes i said 45....not cassette, not cd, not mp3...and yes I am telling my age but so what....I am proud I was an 80's teen. lol

@mochafrap2006 WUT R U TALKIN ABOUT ???? THE 80'S ROCKED!!! I WASNT A TEEN THEN! BUT I KNOW BECAUSE THE CULTURE AND MUSIC WAS AMAZING! AND IT STILL IS EVEN NOW!
@mochafrap2006 teen in the 80s? I was already in twenties back then, a young man fresh out of college enjoying life to its fullest. Travelling the world. Living in the Windy City, great job at a great company, met the love of my life, Susan from the UK - yes the world was mine back then. Those were the best years of my life. BTW, I used to have 45s too. Still got 'em somewhere.
I miss you blind Boy George - where have you gone? I always loved this song and this is just musical nirvana - such talent - :) Eric in Burton Michigan USA.
Now this is what i called REAL PURE AWESOME AUTHEntIC music that gets to your soul. Everyone else hating on this can keep their lady gaga and justin bieber shit.
that bitch katy perry has 200 million views for her stupid firwork song..but boy george only has 331 thousand views for this song..wtf is wrong with people these days. if it wasnt for pop stars like boy george..katy perry wuld have been cleaning toilets in our local walmart...just sayyinn.
Once I heard "Do you really..?" I knew there was some talent there. Culture Club was one of the most talented groups from an admittedly weak decade for pop music. O'Dowd can sing and the Roy Hay appeared to be the musical brains of the outfit.
@peacesells Translation: "I'm an older person (or a younger person who thinks they're superior for liking older music). I'm smug/bitter because not everyone is familiar with/shares in my musical preferences. All new musicians are bad, no exceptions "
@EaterOfCakesI think you give to much thought to a subject that won't actually change anything. Seriously!!!Who do you think you are ?? Fuck off it's the internet. I don't think you know, but this video has a comment box open TO ALL! To opinion and comment. Let it go... Enjoy the music, don't think about ways to seem smart. You are very smart enough. You don't want to seem like an asshole. Note: This comment is a contradiction :)

"Miss Me Blind" got up to # 8 on the U.S. R&B chart in 1983.
In the early/mid 80s there was a lot of funk-compatible music that crossed from the R&B chart to the US and UK pop charts. AND vice-versa.
Melba Moore's "Love's Comin At Ya" reached #15 on the UK pop chart in 1982 while
it did not crack the U.S. top 40 pop chart.
A few more examples, the US R&B Chart: "Shock the Monkey", "(Keep Feeling) Fascination" "Out of Touch."

You may find that it is worth the time to take a look and listen at the song lists that
have been posted to Itunes Ping that meld together rhythmically & stylistically
compatible early/mid 80s R&B/funk songs and early/mid 80s synth pop/new wave
songs. Lots of music that was either forgotten or not ever learned
of but was very enjoyable or would be very enjoyable if it was rediscovered or
discovered for the 1st time by people that enjoy this type of music. People like you?

Once I heard "Do you really..?" I knew there was some talent there. Culture Club was one of the most talented groups from an admittedly weak decade for pop music. O'Dowd can sing and the Roy Hay appeared to be the musical brains of the outfit.

I miss the 80's, I feel lucky I was in my 20's and living in las vegas at the time. Had way too much fun going to clubs and dancing till 6am!

Boy George has more talent and style in his pinky finger than any pop singer out there today and in the last 5 years .
