  • You have great videos, I recently got my ccw and force on force is my next step because I don't believe the training I received was good enough. Really I don't think anyone can train enough nor should ever stop training because you will never know when something bad is going to happen or how. Keep up the vids!

  • @TheLumbernator1 There are great CDs out there from Gabriel Suarez on just bout any self defense subjects (for those that would like to Pre-prepare).No BS-real life-approach for ALL AGES (I have seen many retirees participate, within limits of course). The idea is to gain distance while gaining time to respond. Also, yes you have a gun but if you can get away without shooting it do it.I am a magnet for trouble (also work in high risk area) but have never been taken out,,,yet :)

  • Actually, I love being shot which is exactly why I wont be receiving any force on force training.

  • You helped me decide on participating in this course!

  • The Car grip @ 8:37 is what you would do if you were firing from a seated position and shooting out the driver's side ( from right hand) or passenger side from your left hand, and you're using a compressed weaver on a close target....good demo and AAR all around.

  • Like how you were trying NOT to do a Pekiti Take off @ 5:06

  • Did Steve also cover the 0-5' gunfighting skills matrix?

  • I believe I see some airsoft pellet wounds on your right arm ^_^

  • Great video - thanks for posting it.

I think women need REAL handgun training (like this) more than men do due to their sex, size disparity, etc. It's a shame more women don't seek out this type of training - good for you bringing the concept "to the masses".

  • carry 2 1/2 guns

  • You just paid how much money to play airsoft with a franchised trainer, convicted of fraud? You know Saurez was in jail for faking a bad back injury and ripping of the department he worked for. His wife was hit for laundering the money.

Are these the people you really want to give money to?

  • @Heathh49008 I took a Suarez course and it changed my (tactical shooting) life.

As to his "back story" - we all make mistakes - I wasn't paying him to be my pastor - I paid him for the instruction which was better than "top notch" - it was world class.

  • @VikingPreparedness It's better than nothing... But are those the people you want to support considering all of the trainers available who aren't crooks? Look around, get different training, and compare. There is nothing about that particular ex-con's offerings that makes it a must take class. But hey, you can support the puke if you like. Maybe you even buy his Christian line of BS, but how could you? Really? A Christian life he has never led?

  • Why do you have such a high interest in combat training ? Are you in some sort of police force or just a good looking girl with an awesome hobby! To me it makes no sense why you are into guns instead of shoes(just a figure of speech). I'm just curious about why you like combat so much and what made you start. BTW I wasn't trying to offend you in any such way . I was just pointing out the facts that most good looking girls are very girly and would cry if they ever shot a gun.(figure Of speech)

  • Lima, Thanks for posting and as always the information you provide is invaluable IMHO to anyone who decides to EDC. There must be something to the CAR Grip, this is the 2nd video I've seen mentioning it.

  • @dstmpsn, we do have a responsibility to not spray bullets all over the countryside, but it is entirely possible that we may miss at some point. However, we can't let that stall us into inaction. If the bad guy is doing his best to kill us, we have to do our best to not get killed. Focus on the immediate problem, which is not getting shot. Then, focus on stopping the bad guy, or getting away, whichever is easier at the time.

  • Well, I'm the Steve Collins that taught this class. Don't know how I missed this, but glad I found it. Force on Force training is a vital link in an individuals training. Is it perfect? Absolutely not, but it is a giant step from shooting at stationary targets only. The key is ensuring that it remains a training tool, and doesn't become "I got you! No you didn't!" If you're willing to leave your ego behind, Force on Force can be one the best training events you can have.

  • @collinssj69 I'm glad you found it!

  • CAR GRIP stands for CENTER AXIS RELOCK developed by Paul Castle

  • great videos!

My one question involves the stray bullets.

How responsible are you (we) for hitting unintended targets, like other people?.

I think tactical training would really help me. But I still might miss. Or the perp might miss...

  • thank you for the insight on this class. I've thought a lot about taking one or some of their courses. It's always nice to be prepared because you never when, where, or what type of situation you may end up in.

  • In my ccw class one of the students weapon failed during live fire so the instructor lent him his weapon, we came to 10 shots 5 point shooting and 5 using sights, the instructor asked him how he liked the sights and he said fine... there were no sights on the gun LOL

  • @Billthrasher That is funny.

  • HaAa, u need home boy night sights for your car grip. AhaHahha.

  • Well, that answers my question of how this course went. Sounds like it went fantastically! They should give you neoprene gloves, though. You can get them online at the better airsoft sellers. I guess they didn't want to spoil the surprise about hands getting hit.

  • I think I'm in love, ;) Great video.

  • I enjoy your videos. I'm convinced the fastest reload is a second gun! Even a Ruger LCP seems a better option than trying to recover a dropped Glock or trying to reload a Glock on the run. Shooting a Glock in one hand and a LCP in the other may be an option. You should also consider appendix carry. Maybe appendix carry is not a woman's first choice but it is faster than most.

  • Lima, since this training, have you given some thought on revising your video regarding carrying a child and using force? Or does it only serve to reinforce it? Cliff

  • Your a tough young lady, Keep up the good Video's

  • With Force on Force, im ex Army. Ive had cross training from both the US Army and US Marines and cross training with Australian Special Air Service Regiment in Afghanistan. Ive also served in a few other hot spots in the world.

  • Thank's for the info....i just found you and i love youre videos.

  • Good videos, thanks! Subscribed. Learned about you at MrLockandLoad BlogTV show last night. Check out MrLockandLoad, com

  • Thanks for the review Lima. We're lucky enough to have Steve Collins here in MO and I'm lookign forward to seeing his schedule for 2011. The first time I mentioned putting together a FoF class in our area one of the guys said "$X00 to shoot airsoft? I don't think so." As you said ALL of that two handed grip and perfect sight picture goes out the window when you are startled/afraid and the range is 5 feet! Hands get hit a lot because we focus on the weapon more than the person attacking us!

  • I practice drawing and firing right and left handed since you never know what situation might arise. Oddly i'm right handed but when concentrating I am more accurate firing left handed.

  • DAMM UR HOT!

  • @TyneOdu OMG really can't you come up with a more constructive comment? Probably not but still just shut up.

  • @TheGear321 be real man, you'd boink her :D

  • God that sounds fun.

  • like "The Force" ??

  • shut up

  • Christianity is a tag to this video? That says more than I ever wanted to know...certainly more than your video did.

  • @elrynx2 It is?! That's funny. I certainly wouldn't have knowingly put that tag in there. YouTube suggests tags once your video has uploaded and I usually just click on "Accept" for the suggestions and don't read them.

I think it's kind of funny that YouTube would suggest "christianity" for this video..lol

  • REF: comment from ThePurcy... It's the UK law that is fucked up. The American 2nd ammendment and the understanding that every human being has the right to self defence should be an excellent example of how to live free. I'm a UK citizen and am whole heartedly ashamed of what this country has become. I won't be here much longer. It's that 'court of law' defence you mention that is the joke in your comment.

  • YOUR HOT .........

  • @jessemac13

her husband thinks so too. :) lol

  • how did your airsoft gun hold up?

  • @davkenrem I actually didn't use it very much. The instructor lent me his Glock airsoft so that it would fit in my holster.

  • 7:23 i'm sorry limalife but if you tried to rob me while smiling like that i would probably just smile back. lol

  • @U104 That's okay.. as long as you still gave me your money. :D

  • Im sure shooting someone because they are grabbing your throat isnt going to do you much good in the court of law :/

  • @ThePurcy Hands upon someone's throat presents a clear and deadly threat to personal life. That range is completely defensible in a court of law, as opposed to merely an exchange of blows or harsh words.

  • @ThePurcy A grab to the throat is deadly force. I am very justified in responding in force to someone who attempts to stop my breathing or blood chock me to death.

  • @limalife Really!? we do anything like that in the UK and we will be the ones who get sent down makes no sense!

    oh well :(

  • @ThePurcy This is why I'm so thankful to be an American that has chosen to live in a pro-self-defense state. I really can't imagine a country that would hold a victim responsible for defending him or herself. Especially when something as violent as an attack to the throat has just taken place. To me, that makes no sense. lol

  • @limalife I know it shows how much of a backward world we all live in oh well only saving grace of the UK is that we can still own our wild west blackpowder revolvers among other firearms (mainly rifles)

Take care lima you do a good job on youtube in the gun community, so much egotism and hate in some parts.

  • how old are you

  • @hamtooo 135.... unless it matters. ;)

  • @limalife

    I've guessed that

leave youtube for the new generation

  • @limalife that made my day, thanks! lol.

  • @limalife He probably just wanted to know if you were 'legal' ;)

  • How many layers of clothing did you wear? I assume it hurts like heck regardless if you wear 1 or 10 layers. I'm planning to attend a night class in FoF next month.

  • @texmags For day one I had a t-shirt and a sweater on. For day two I had a long sleeve shirt and a t-shirt over top.

  • Very interesting and informative - thank you!

  • Thanks for the recap or your experience..

  • Thanks for sharing...GB

  • If someone has a cheap holster they deserve to loose the gun.

  • i would....

  • Great information!

  • What did she say? :)

  • Sounds like that was a worth while course to take.

  • you look AMAZING! especially for coming from a FOF

  • Really interesting. Thank you.

  • C.A.R. - Center Axis Relock.

  • Deputy in Houston working as a security guard was shot during a bank robbery, he was shot in the hand but did manage to shoot one of the robbers. I guess the hand is as likely target as any where else.

    Great video.

  • hahah right shoulder, tell tale airsoft wounds! I remember being covered in those in middle school...

  • Sounds like a great class. Do they recommend keeping a round in the chamber while carrying? It sounds like most of the time you would not have much time to rack a slide.

  • @venturahwy76

Most everyone I've ever met or talked to that takes carrying a firearm seriously does so with one in the chamber and in my opinion it is the only way a firearm being carried for self defense should be carried. You never know when you're going to need it and you can not guarantee that you will

A: have a hand free to chamber a round

B: Have time to chamber a round

C: Execute the motion correctly and not short cycle the slide.

Carry with one in the chamber.

  • @limalife ,,,I always carry one in the chamber,,,but its a revolver-----LOL

  • @limalife because this is the internet and any joe is free to be a know-it-all (pointing out even the most obvious) I will just note that if you have a revolver, one doesn't necessarily have to have a round in the chamber/cylinder. Leaving the first cylinder empty for safety reasons is fine, as one more trigger squeeze will make the gun go boom. I will now leave this comment for the next know-it-all to chime in on my comment, and so on.

  • @cartoonconn what safety reason? She's not carrying a Colt SAA, unmodified old model Ruger Blackhawk, or ancient DA.

  • @grimel2 Here's a couple off the top of my head: Accidental discharge from having your finger in the trigger guard while re-holstering, in case the bad guy gets your gun, in case your pistol is sitting around and some numbskull decides to put their stupid mitts on it, because a misfire, failure to feed, etc on an auto demands that you perform a clearance drill putting you at the mercy of an attacker-it's not that hard to think of reasons.

  • @cartoonconn not one of those has anything to do with carry a revolver with an empty chamber under the hammer. As for an auto, the first isn't accidental, the rest aren't safety. There is no safety reason to keep an empty chamber on a defensive firearm. Leaving an empty chamber on a revolver makes even less sense.

  • @grimel2 There was a reason to keep an empty hammer on the '73 peacekeeper, as there was on cap and ball revolvers which preceded it: If dropped, the hammer could hit the primer and give you an accidental discharge. if the chamber under the hammer was empty, they it would not give you an accidental discharge. Cocking the hammer rotated the cylinder anyways. That reason is less valid for modern weapons, and modern primers with more uniformity. Some early auto pistols had the same weakness.

  • @DonMeaker Do you remotely comprehend what is written? This was about modern DA revolvers for defensive carry.

  • @grimel2 Of course I understand what is written. That is why I responded to "There is no safety reason to keep an empty chamber on a defensive firearm." I stated the reason why one would. A single action revolver is as effective in defense as ever it was. I am glad I could help educate you on that.

  • @limalife Of course the Israelis disagree. They keep the chamber clear, and cycle the engine as part of their draw.

Of course you have much more experience than the Israeli Army, right? Right?

  • @DonMeaker the isreali defense force TRAINED that way because the pistols they had were older and NOT uniform, so to circumvent training everyone in multiple platforms safely, they chose to carry empty chamber, and cycle on the draw.... know it all

  • @trappedprepper Thank you for confirming that the Israelis keep the chamber clear. Jeff Cooper used to train that way too, once, long long ago. The detonics people designed their first pistol to be carried with one in the chamber with the hammer down, with the intention of cocking during the draw (like a single action revolver). That is why the old detonics had the oddly shaped rear of the slide.

  • I Hear ya, I come home lumped up every time I go out and play paintball.

  • Informative, thanks for sharing...

  • Good job. Thank you for sharing the details.

  • Good stuff! Thanks for posting the highlights of what you did and learned after taking the class. Makes you really think about training. I am curious to look more into the training. Thanks again!

  • I really picked up some great tips from your video and after seeing all the bruises on you; I can see you are a gutsy lady. lol Thanks for sharing your experience in your down to earth personalized communication style. 5 ✿⊱╮✿⊱╮✿⊱╮✿⊱╮✿⊱╮

  • Good school, good training. I plan to do a "tour" of all the major schools over the next couple of years. Suarez is definitely on the list.

  • @ZombieTactics I would love to do that. I have made it to InSights, Saurez International and I'm headed off to TDI later this year but that's it for "big name" schools."

  • Very interesting. What occurs to me watching videos of these FOF classes, not a criticism of them but just something to think about, is that it seems in a lot of the scenarios that in 'real life' the bad guy would probably not be as aggressive/confident as the players in the classes. Suppose a mugger pulls a knife on you, and you go to draw a gun. In these classes the mugger responds by instantly charging you. In real life, he'd probably at least dither, wondering whether to run or fight.

  • @An0nEeMouse Take a look at some CCTV footage of attempted robberies and the like. From that I think the bad guys are often surprisingly timid and when they got shot they tend to be more concerned with escaping than continuing to attack.

  • @An0nEeMouse This may be the case but one should never EXPECT the bad guy to just go away or be timid or scared or to leave. If one were to get too confident that just drawing a firearm would end a situation, in that rare, muphy's law kind of a situation where the bad guy doesn't care and still charges that person can waste precious time being surprised instead of responding. One should always EXPECT the worst and if the encounter ends before shots are fired, great!

    Train for worst case.

  • Can't you ware some type of gloves for the class

    Or is that not allowed

I imagine it's also hard to get used to shooting with gloves on

    Maybe like a mechanics gloves

Sounds like your really getting into it

Oh do you have a plastic KABAR to backup the airsoft

  • @satchboogyfan I was wearing gloves..lol

I didn't have a trainer knife for this class but I bought one pretty much the day after I got back. I want to train more with that.

  • Center axis Relock CAR

  • great info and insight

    thanks for your time

    roger

  • You're awesome!

  • Don't you run into ejection trouble with that kind of grip? I mean like you would throw the casing right in your face.

  • @cmdstraker It certainly could. Not to mention you'll get lots of powder to the face but it's better than not getting a good shot.

  • omg you learned center-axis relock! its an awesome fighting system for cqb. you should take a carbine course :-)

  • C.A.R. stands for Center Axis Relock

  • how did you get shot in your hand

  • @glock52acp It's very natural for us to put up our hands to defend ourselves even if it doesn't do anything besides meaning you get shot. Not to mention that when you draw and shoot your hands are between you and your opponent on the center-line of your body. When someone is shooting for your center line then getting hit in the hands is going to happen.

  • Excellent information. Learning marksmanship is great however it is not a substitute for real world action scenarios or force on force if self protection is your reason for owning a handgun. Developing muscle memory is primal to survival.

  • good video

I would like to take a class like this one day .

  • C.A.R. = Paul Castle's Center Axis Relock shooting method

    sabretactical com/CAR/car.html

    wikipedia org/wiki/Center_Axis_Relock

  • are you in ohio?

  • That's cool that you enjoyed the class..

Gabe Suarez has a terrible rep here in the so Cal, i has a very controversial past, and there's room to belive that his exaggerated his resume extensivly.

anyway you might now this already and have chosen to take his class anyway.

I'm glad you enjoyed it :D

  • Nice, you took out the park bench assailant Han Solo style.

  • you look like you been beat up and rung out bruises all over you poor thing!!!

  • Comment removed

  • this class seems more like a test of how you would react to a situation than just a pistol class or shooting targets

  • @tnb4mnf Exactly.

  • Excellent video, good information!

  • Do you still have a website? I remember you had one a couple of years ago. Cool video.

  • Sounds like excellent training and a bit of fun as well. (painful but fun)

  • ★★★★★

  • Sounds like alot of fun.

  • nice! :)

  • Great perspective on what sounds like more excellent training, thanks for the vid !!

Dang those airsoft guns don't mess around those bruises look as bad as paintball or sim ammo

  • @GunWebsites I've done paintball before and I would take paintball over airsoft any day of the week when considering pain and bruising, but for the training aspect you just can't get paintball guns that are as realistic to real guns as airsoft guns.

  • The class seems great, it's just that if I am training for a firearm, I want to be using a firearm. No airsoft gun can replicate the recoil felt by a real gun, and I've owned dozens of airsoft guns. Under a stressful situation, if I trained on airsoft, that recoil could really work against me.

  • @goldeneye007662 The key is to do both--there are certain things you simply can't do with real guns because they'll kill people. It would be nice if they could somehow make airsoft guns simulate the recoil of a real gun, but I've never heard of such a thing yet, so this is the best we can do so far.

  • @goldeneye007662 This is true but the training is still vital. You can look into simunition training which is more like real guns but it's VERY VERY VERY expensive and usually only reserved for military. Setting aside the training just because the recoil isn't the same is just silly. Everything else you learn is so vital.
