My brother and I actually used to play this on the SNES all the time.... we had one round once that maxed out the timer and then lasted about another 15 minutes afterward, and I beat him (finally) with like a 27 chain when he ran out of matching blocks. :/ It's not really super hard if you can scan over everything really fast and keep breaking garbage blocks... though it does take a lot of time to get to be able to do, LOL. But if it was tool assisted, then.... meh, IDC. It was still cool. ;)

from what I've gathered playing PPL online, getting REALLY huge chains isn't all that great of an idea, because your opponent can easily turn your huge garbage block into an even bigger garbage chain than the one you sent over. It's better to play more defensively and do smaller chains with ! block matches in between, and set up lots of garbage chains.

@mrassis12 Leave these kinds of conversations to those who actually bothered to get good at a game...If you've played Planet Puzzle League online you should know that 25+ chains are achievable and in fact rather common, especially with the touchscreen control scheme. It just takes some practice to get up to speed with the D-pad.

This is what I call pulling a Blaine (because Blaine's AI in Pokémon Puzzle League likes to do this). You shouldn't have been so aggressive in continuing your chain after clearing the garbage block.

Also, you could have made a vertical row from the green blocks near the end to clear that garbage stack and stay in the game.

This video is fake... a computer is obvious doing the first player's controls. Even a novice player would immediately clear the blocks that were dropped at 2:04 (probably using the gray "!" blocks). The idiotic actions of trying to do a chain combo with three rows of blocks instead prove this is a computer program (albeit an impressive one) and not a human.

This was tool-assisted. Me and my friend had a 7 minute match of switching large chains getting all the way to 30 - 40+ on the SNES with real controllers on a real Super Nintendo. Chains that large really get the SNES to slow down. You only got a 26 or 27 chain. It's funny to know that no matter how large your chain is, you can still lose.

Because the Super Famicom one is nearly identical other then the obvious fairies instead of Yoshi and friends. As well as two or so themes changed (Yoshi's / Lips which was left in the tutorial, and the Bowser/Cordiela which is still there when you talk to Bowser).

Tetris Attack had a better AI though : /

Left one has been a CPU Lv7, you can see it at his moving speed, but he isn´t switching pannels while a block is relsoving... By the way beating a Lv7-CPU isn´t that hard to do, sereously... And the Red mode in the Versus Game is pretty easy, too (Maybe I´m playing this game far too often, but it´s quite fun^^)
