  • Fascinating stuff, but it's going to be an extremely difficult task. As we have seen with the human brain, so many things can go wrong.

  • This entire interview simply does not address the core of the AGI hypothesis. And that is the claim that human intelligence is in some way "general." It may very well be the case that human intelligence is extremely particular, not general, and suited for a particularly rare hunter-gatherer environment in the universe.

  • It may be the case that neuroscience is _not_ studying a "Platonic intelligence" that is somehow embodied in a mammal, but may only ever be studying how a mammalian brain interacts with the universe in its own particular manner. Again, this claim to generality of intelligence is dubious, and should be met with extreme skepticism.
