  • Dude comes off like a real prick

  • This is a good video... a lot of content summarized rather well. Thanks for posting, looking forward to watching your future videos. There is a lot of average stuff out there on YouTube, but I think this is great material. How long have you been creating videos? I just started and am trying to pick up ideas from other users with content rich channels (like yours). Any tips?

  • nice one!

  • should be called the secret 'technical' 'early' history of silicon valley

  • Four years ago I definitely had no idea of #InnoBay

  • thanks shockley, you helped to turn us all slaves to the military industrial complex!

  • LANCASTER bomber not LANCHESTER!!!!!

  • ANYONE who doesn't know that the internet was created with the sole purpose of ensnaring the entire population onto a control grid for absolute monitoring throughout every person's lifetime is the exact reason why this control grid has been allowed to take root and flourish. Children today have been and will be monitored, cataloged and mind controlled with such stunning efficiency and expertise, they will not even realize they are enslaved and imprisioned. Gleefully they press enter...

  • @SlavesAreDisarmed Interesting but Im not seeing how you think that was its purpose.....???

  • Finally somebody talking in public about CIA and NSA involvement in all the software we use today.

  • He's right! I've never seen any of this in any movie or documentary!

  • Same-to-same re: Bangalore ... WW II and all that ... chck it!

  • Spoofing aircraft with phased arrays bouncing off the ionosphere perhaps? Just arrange the wave pattern to converge on a point simulating a reflected signal.

  • @jburt56 but how far away can you bounce the signal from an actual airplane, or what about that submarine made from 0 moving parts but can use the energy in the ocean currents to stay powered all the time? lol

  • @itsadeadmansparty Hey, that sub idea is great. I spent a couple of hours and figured out how to do it!!!

  • @jburt56 How? I think it uses the conductivity of h20 on the metal hull and uses ocean currents to charge its internal capacitor, btw i actually still have no idea how it works, Share with me how?

  • Please How can Radar Work before 1947 if you have not yet invented the transistor?

Wouldn't you need hundreds of Vacuum Tubes? How is that ever possible to have radar invented with no transistors to run the circuits? Most computation done by vacuum tube are humongous? HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE??? Seriously How could radar work if vacuum tubes are constructed in very large arrays? How could a plane have circuitry to run radar? Wouldnt the circuits take half the plane and half the bombs room,Explain??

  • @itsadeadmansparty ENIAC weighs 30 tons and includes 18,000 vacuum tubes, 6,000 switches, and 1,500 relays. Okay How can a Plane have all the electronics capable to perform radar if computers were not invented yet? Or if this radar system existed, it existed toward the end of the war not the beginning, But still i feel there is some piece of science history we are not being told, How could engineers who just invented vacuum tubes be able to assemble advance radar on planes? Im asking i dont know

  • Are you a qualified expert? No. So what you say is just layman specualtion. Maybe you're right, maybe not, but youtube is not the right place to ask such questions.

    Peace

  • @spiritmong perfect place to comment and ask questions,

possibly the best place in the entire earth to ask questions and comment

  • Yeah, if youdon't want to know when you're being miseducated

  • @itsadeadmansparty They relied on "rectifier", a semiconductor crystal.

  • FYI, the Lanchester was the civilian version of the Lancaster Bomber. It's not really much of a typo since they are essentially the same aircraft with a few minor modifications

  • No mention of psychedelics?

  • not worth watching then

  • Stanford certainly did get involved with the DOD when it came to psych ops. See Stanford research institute.

  • good information on the formative part of silicon valley...and all of the electronics industry

  • Pretty amazing stuff. I thought the English were way ahead of the Germans in terms of radar!

  • silicone valley is a victory for Government over Private sector. suck it conservatives.

  • how about the line of high profile political and banking criminals in the present?

  • The British Bombers are called Lancasters

  • He forgot to mention agricultures massive roll in tech. FMC, the defense company who made the Bradley fighting vehicle, started out as the Food Machine Corp in the city of Santa Clara (my hometown). The valley was full of orchards and canneries, along with high end industrial due to both Stanford and the Jesuit run Santa Clara university. This educational and engineering base along with the most important thing THE BEST WEATHER IN THE WORLD, along with govt. cold war cash made the valley.

  • @norcalmikey99 Spot on sir..

  • Think of the underlying law of nature. The way of all things.

Consider its astounding inferences and implications.

The single, underlying law ... of nature! Not merely of physics, chemistry, psychology, biology, etc., but of all known fields of inquiry. The law we can all relate to, identify, understand and apply.

Ask yourself. What is the underlying law of nature?

Delight in the question. Have fun in the process of finding the answer firsthand for yourself.

    Google it, as a start.

  • Fascinating.

  • wow u are so cool man

  • You are not even an amature historian. New Zealand, Australia, Canada, India were all colonies of Britain having the same leader, Queen Elizabeth. That is why he said Britain not UK. :) Do not attack people if you are not sure

  • Queen Elizabeth is a figure head btw - parliament is sovereign and can pass any law - the queen has no real power.

  • I am afraid you are in error. Re-check your assumptions before disregarding my comments. Churchill was in fact the leader of UK - the royal family have been figure heads since 18th century when parliament became sovereign in england. In NZ parliament can make any law, basically do anything - it is called a parliament democracy. same for all members of commonwealth. So my comment saying it was not just UK and USA in WW2 is right - many countries helped fight nazis before USA officially entered.

  • Isn't the house of Lords an extension of sovereign power?

  • All those countries you just listed are in the UK you crazy. India was until 1947.

So of course they declared war.

  • Curious how technological the Ching Pao was in China--I understood that night flying over the hump was line of sight.

  • I won't say I know about "area bombing", but there's absolutely no precision in anihiliating a city full of innocents. Even if the dropped some stupid flyers. They have no right for "dehousing" anyone, let alone dropping a bomb on two cities. I believe Osama always warns about attacks too. Would you have evacuated New York? Or London? And he's not even destroying cities.

Justify it all you want, it was a crime against humanity and murder of civilians. TWICE

  • someman7 So what would YOU have done? Given up. Its easy to monday morning quarterback a situation.

  • War is HELL!

  • @someman7

    Stupid hippy

  • @sidw Realy, you have no qualms about "dehousing". Ok, lets just hope your english is just under par. YOu do understand "dehousing" means killing everybody in your city. Back then practicaly everybody you know. I am warfare agnostic, love weapons and war machines. Don't like killing people for politics. So do you want to rethink "stupid hippy".

  • Intriguing - I have heard similar theories...

  • There are some people here who seem to come back daily to thumb down completely valid comments.... pathetic, and, surely, typical....

  • DUMB ASS !

  • The house of cards is falling

  • idiot!

  • Its not Jews specifically, its really a loose organization of elitists who really believe that they should regulate the world, thus own it. They will do it through any means necessary.

Which includes creating discourse amongst the people, which is what the Jewish people are largely used for, among others.

So in effect, you are helping their efforts.

  • Very interesting.!

  • the guy giving the into must be a Russian that got out of Russia after the fall of the USSR.. I wonder how many Russian scientist came to the US at that time ? Defense research is the backbone of Silicon valley..has anyone heard of Star Wars ? is this a surprise to anyone ?

  • Concerning your statement about the United States spreading terror, how about the Canadian record?

What would you call the nighttime, incendiary, carpet bombing raids conducted by the RAF, with its Canadian crews, to "de-house" German civilians if not terror missions?

Canada is now, as ever, by the same set of rules as the U.S. when it suits your national interests.

If America is a terrorist, then Canada is equally dirty, and an even bigger hypocrite.

  • Canada doesn't have a clean record, but it's by no means as brutal as the US's. As for the incendiary bombings, (I assume you're talking about Dresden), it was during the second world war, done by the RAF as you have said. What you miss, however, is that after WW1 Canadian forces flew their own missions: the RCAF.

I agree Canada and the states are run by the same people, I agree.

  • Some super insightful commentary of how this story came together on the author's new blog, search steveblank. suspenseful back story.

  • excellent lecture. very informative endl;

  • Google owns YouTube.

  • Congress deemed "data farming" unconstitutional yet the Justice Department diverted funds and implemented "Seiznet" anyway. ACLU, raised an immediate objection that was ignored. "Remote hackers and attackers" is the term used to pacify the brainwashed...... THINK! ..... In order to function, every piece of hardware/software must have a precise digital address.

Example: TFTP3828 written 10/22/01 5:15 PM Microsoft Corporation, Redmond Washington <---more commonly known as SPYBOT.

  • An interesting summary of the relationship between the U.S. intelligence community and the early founders of Silicon Valley. This information is only now being declassified. One would assume that many of these relationships continue even today, but with completely different technologies, of course.

  • I'm sure that a bit of searching will bring you back to videos more in your comfort zone, like titties and fart jokes.

  • LOL

  • I wouldnt say that they where all of low IQ, maybe by today standards, but they did evolve. Smart people evolve, dumb people are the working horse of which smart people thrive. Now if we can just get over ourselfs and let us cage dumb people like chickens and such, it would be easier. Oh, wait, we have a prison system for that lol

  • Slides for this presentation are available for download or viewing on Slideshare

Search for "Secret History of Silicon Valley."

An updated version of this talk with a discussion of the rise of Venture Capital is on the Computer History Museum web site.

  • why does the video take forever to load? ( I assure I do not have a slow PC, specs will be available upon request ) I am trying to watch it in HQ, all other vids load quickly, anyone else having the same problem?

  • He's an American lol

  • Lanchester Bomber?

    Get it right, WTF?

  • So, basically, it's all for warfare and world domination purposes, isnt it?

Funny, considering how American corporations and the american elite funded Adolf Hitler's rise...George dubya's grandfather was one of Hitler's major financers. Makes you think, dudnt it?

  • ... the incessant need for consumers, to feed the machine of overproduction and unnecessary 'products'. Nature is altered to sustain a short-sighted worldview of information-starved slaves.Produce is shipped out of out of poor countries whose starving populace isnt getting any of the best products. Destruction of forests is endangering our natural oxygen supply. Free market basically accounts for most narrowmindedness and pollution. Religion does the rest. Profit is parasitic use of resources.

  • basically; western, profit-based, free market-society is accountable for the ever increasing population growth. Capitalism and communism or any - ism for that matter wouldnt help anything to stop growth; work-ethics are destroying the freedom of people to be apart from polluting society. Governments are mindless homogenzizing engines producing an ever increasing population...

  • ...When nature is left intact and uncontrolled, there will be no extreme exponential population growth and no need for 'population control' or 'population reduction'. Industry is destroying the possibility for many many species to survive and contribute to the natural abundance.

Basically; modern rural , elite ruled, industrial free market society is destroying the environment- and the worst thing is, it is because of greed. Free markets are only free for those who dominate the markets.

  • Have fun dying.

  • "american elite" If I hear that term again I am going to explode. How about somebody uses actually uses names. I used to laugh at you elitist, now it's just getting annoying.

  • Names? Just google "american elite", and oodles of names will pop up...

  • I googled it, no names came up. just a bunch of companies. How about you google it and see for yourself. or you can just give me some names.

  • Looks like you hair is on fire again! If you really think some evil force is controlling everything, do something to stop it instead of being an anti-establishment fanboi.

  • hmm, seems like someone has a one-sided view of the world...and a limited understanding

    wind, yes...mighty...? I guess not.

  • Care to cite specific examples of my one-sided view? Little broad in your argument.

  • examples? That's nitpicking; it is quite obvious from your comments that you have your own interpretation of other people's opinions...

  • About the "evil force" comment: Would you honestly be complaining about a benevolent power? You must feel that whatever power you are not happy with has no benefit to you. I really am interested in hearing your explanation for your views. If the sheepishness and greed of the common human is really your issue, what do you plan to do about it--be angry for the rest of your life or destroy all humans? Resist the government indefinitely?

  • I am not angry at all, to be honest; I have a good life, thanks to my insistence on being free as I am.

What I plan to do about it is unimportant. I just live as I want to. Say what I want to. With in my mind only the sense of equality that I believe humans should explore.

I just happen to believe that our modern society is a failure. That our use of technology is infantile and vindictive. That nobody in the world has the right to determine what I think or do...especially government.

  • I plan on resisting government indefinitely. Government doesnt give you anything it didnt first take away.

Now, go a head and front.

  • Interesting to see tho, windydude, that you seem to believe that YOU are entitled to an opinion, while you deliberately misunderstand and wrongly interpret people's well-informed opinions...

"an evil force" ---did anyone here say there is an evil force controlling everything??

Isnt the evil force just the greed and sheepishness of the common human? The lack of resistance against injustice and the automatic acceptance of any form of government? Or do you just echo somebody's opinion to be cool?

  • We are all entitled to our opinions. It's just some can be reasonably defended or explained logically and others cannot. Care to share the info that make your opinions so "well-informed?"

  • My opinions are totally independant of peer-review. I dont need to prove things that can be seen all around us. Life is not a play of words, not a battle of polemic and trying to prove the obvious to hard-heads.

t the rate we are destroying our environment I'd say it is pretty obvious that we are missing some very important points. Hard to deny that one. No need to prove it, either. I guess a lot of humans enjoy living in their own filth and exhaust.

  • Mother Nature has done more to destroy the environment that we mortals could ever hope. Think asteroids, volcanoes, hurricanes, earthquakes.

Why are you such a misanthrope? Did you have an overbearing parent? It may be affecting your indefensible, baseless world view. But, hey, you're entitled to believe whatever makes you feel better.

  • see; thats the one-sided view you have of things. Just because you have probably had an overbearing father, you immediately project this onto me.

And damn, to state what you do;"Mother Nature has done more to destroy the environment thaN we mortals could ever hope." is pure idiocy. Mother Nature never destroys or take away randomly; it is all an intricate inter-related play of cause and effect. Humans on the other hand destroy randomly and vindictively. Nature cant destroy herself.

  • Hard to argue with that logic!

  • How can you deal in absolutes such as never, and if you do and humans are apart of the fabric that is mother nature, mayhap humans are the pinnacle expression of the deminsion of space in which we reside, humans unknowingly express mother nature, we are just as indestructible in the act of expressing consciousness

  • I wanna post hour long vids also on you tube!! gutdamnit!

  • oh men, the Germans (im one) we were damn scarry at that time. Good that u took us down. Imagine Germany had 10-20 more years of tech-development ...

  • You have. Haven't you ever heard of project paperclip? It is still damn scary.

  • no whats that?

  • Canada was also there, just sayin..

  • As a former USAF EF-111A navigator I found this video fascinating. The USAF EW School in San Antonio ought to invite Mr Blank out to speak to the students there.

  • but the British and Germans and Americans are all controlled by the same people..

  • I couldn't help but notice stupid comments. Fantastic video, it answered a few questions i wondered about.

  • We should be talking about Ron Paul.

  • ahh, the intertwinement of government and industry, or, fascism.

    hooray.

  • Umm.. I don't think you know what fascism is. You described a characteristic of fascism, but also a characteristic of communism, socialism, and "mixed-economy-ism." It's not the defining characteristic of fascism.

  • gasite

  • My dad worked at RRL--he was an EE/PhD from Stanford

  • *SWITZERLAND* was also alone... ;-)

  • Very interesting. You would have thought though he could have got his facts re RAF bombers right. The LANCASTER was the RAF bomber, the LANCHESTER was the Lanc's used as civilian airliners after the war.

  • I knew there was a reason I have always enjoyed Terman's writings.

  • GW is nuclear power fiction!

  • In the most fundamental terms (including prototypes), EVERYTHING, with the sole exception of GSP, that is used in aircraft, missiles, aerial and electronic warfare today, was invented during WW2.

The only difference is the quality and improvements to those fundamental devices.

(of course their are a lot of detail differences, the point is it was started in WW2, and made better, and thus the point of this lecture.)

  • Excellent overview! I had the same question as the guy that asked about "spoofing." I guess that one will require a little digging for an answer.

  • Could this spoofing tech have been the source of radar sightings of UFOs at the time?

  • "Only 4 clear days in fall and winter in EU". Never been to EU, I presume?

  • Yes that is a little gloomy to imagine, it may have been that way between 1939 and 1945 only. In London it has been sunny more than that and it is still winter.

  • I had no idea that "real footage from World War II" starred Gregory Peck!

  • can you offer this is a downloadable version, so I can watch it offline?

  • There's a Firefox extension that lets you download YouTube videos.

  • 'Lanchester' bombers, 'what was then called Cape Canaveral', typos. Perhaps just sloppiness, but it does call into question what is a great topic.

  • The "Lanchester" was a 4-engine version of the 2-engine Lancaster. Similar to the 4-engine Manchester, thus the punning name.

  • No, the Manchester was twin engine, the Lancaster was 4 engine. The Limcoln was the Lancaster in RAF use after the war. The Lanchester was the civilian Lancaster used after the war.

  • Russia's contribution undervalued as usual...

  • Hello Dan

I agree with that although Jones' book does itemise the pre-war development of radar.

We gave radar and codebreaking technology to America when they were forced to join in WW2 18months after it started.Cheers Paul
