Obamamaniacs rarely like anything I say. But this guy is making an attempt to force the public option over the overwhelming objections of the public. He is so arrogant.. He may be a wonderful physician but he he is not in touch with the people. I hope his bedside manner was better than his "political touch".
Think the healthcare program is a good idea? Just look at the swine flu vaccine:
The government is charged with making one little shot for everyone and what is happing? It's LATE, there is NOT ENOUGH, they are RATIONING the vaccine, and to top it off IT MIGHT NOT WORK!!
The government can't handle dispensing ONE little shot! Do you really want them to handle ALL your medical needs?
Making a vaccine takes time...I don't want them to rush it at all when it could have negative side effects...It's not "one little shot".
I want the government to handle my medical needs! Like Medicare which runs great and if it wasn't for that the private insurance companies would've pulled the plug on her years ago by not giving care to somone w/ emphysema because it's a "pre-existing condition".
Don't believe everything Obama says. Medicare doesn't run great. Have you seen the red tape? The forms are endless and confusing, now think of the elderly whose mind isn't as sharp as it once was. What happens? They get denied!
BTW a vaccine IS one little shot, but I'm glad to hear you like waiting. If this healthcare program passed you'll get to do a LOT of waiting.
Good I'd like to do some waiting. I had unnecessary surgery done on me that gave me a stroke and put me in a coma. I'd like a panel of doctors to evaluate the procedure and have me wait awhile then rush into a surgery I don't need.
People are fucking stupid. Mainly right wings. Ok, lets not have all are residence of the country alive. If anything the GOP should be supporting them. More old people alive. More people to vote for the outragious belifes.
I have to say I'm surprised to see cnn cover this like they have been. Maybe cause they realize Americans want the truth and their ratings are going in the toilet. All the networks lately are having to report on this, and it must be hard for them cause the majority out on the streets, and at the TRUE town hall meetings are Americans saying no way on GOV'T CONTROLL healthcare. They must hate going to work. How do they cover up the truth ? um uhh umm uhh ?? they can't ! thanks FOX for you service
Read some customer satisfaction polls from the elderly on Medicare they are more satisfied with Medicare than for-profit insurance companies. Would you rather the government running healthcare INSURANCE with an overhead of 3% or for-profit in which 20-30% goes to shareholders, bloated executive compensation HMO averaged 11.9 Million per CEO. But yea only 71% of Americans support the public option, thats why the insurance industry has scared the shit out of you with lies and fear baiting.
would the new "co-op" plan be a stepping stone to single payer that isnt under government control.. my understanding is that the cooperation would be a pay to play system for the current 40 million americans without insurance.. the system would be consumer owned and would create competition amongst the private companies. If this system is set up right and attracts more and more people, it would dominate the market and private insurance would not exist... no govt run healthcare, no private ins.
The public option is a comprimise in itself. It many ways this was FOR THE REPUBLICANS. If democrats and Barack Obama weren't so fearful of being called Socialist, than a Universal Health Care bill would be up for debate right now. This is a hybrid proposal and still the republicans are trying to appease the base, and are more enticed by the campaign contributions from the Health Sector. This party makes me sick. And on another note, how does someone like Bachmann get elected, I don't understand
Yesterday I heard the first talk of her running for PRESIDENT.
Feast your eyes on this...
"If I felt that's what the Lord was calling me to do, I would do it, When I have sensed that the Lord is calling me to do something, I've said yes to it. But I will not seek a higher office if God is not calling me to do it. That's really my standard. If I am called to serve in that realm I would serve, but if I am not called, I wouldn't do it."

Everybody in support of this ObamaCare needs to learn basic economics. The money simply isn't there, and passing a bill on just good intentions is going to get us more liberal failures. Watch Peter Schiff for an easy to understand explaination of why this health care idea is bad.
I have this problem with retardation that other people could have. I think if this fails then I have been proven that retardation is still something that the USA accepts as part of health care and I do not want the retardation.
The GOP is simply doing what they've always done to stifle real debate. Ridicule those with a different view and then the clincher, call them "unamerican".
It's pathetic. Goering and Machiavelli wrote their mission statement. Divide and rule.
Every person protesting the public option, "death panels", and calling Obama a facist socialist (???) didn't vote for his ass in the first place. Don't comprimise and shove it down the republicans' throats.
Dems are pathetically weakwilled and the repubs constantly make them their bitch and get everything they want. Truly embarrassing.
The media is in bed with the health insurance industry. It is THEM that are pushing public option off the table. Don't let these bastards brainwash you!!!!
That's bullshit. That "resistance" is nothing more than closet bigotry and misinformation packaged in fear using phrases like 'obamacare' and 'this isn't the America I grew up with.' The health insurance companies and their (mainly) Republican lapdogs are to blame for this propaganda.
what a joke. i feel like we're being scammed. well over 70% of Americans want the public option, but a few noisy right wingers killed it? i'm not buying it.
"when you got the government running something the government is not a fair competitor, it's a predator not a competitor."
Really? because last i checked UPS, a privately owned business, was doing better than the American postal service, a government owned one.
I do want to learn more about this health care reform, but as of right now I thinks it's important we have a public option. There are some reasonable arguments against it, but the arguments people choose to make are sophomoric.
I think that the President is only trying to re-define reform based more on the other elements included and reduce the public option to just one of many elements in this debate. Items such as pre-existing conditions, bankruptcy due to medical bills, budget neutral, preventive care, lower premiums, should be the focus. What many people fear is the big government, and if GOPers get to define reform as such it will be rejected, but if Dems define it with the actual items on the bill then it'll pass
The right is out of touch, and I think any GOP Senators who want to vote for the bill, the two senators from Maine possibly, risk getting thrown out of the GOP caucus.
My guess is, it was because he was too good at his job. Can't have that, you know.
When Dean was DNC chair he proposed the 50 state strategy. The other feckless wimps on the DNC said "no, no, let's just concentrate on the states where the polls say we can win..." Dean said "fuck that, we'll fight for all 50 and settle for nothing less."
He was right, but since Dems are so comfortable with losing all the time, they just had to replace him with Tim "Mr. Rogers" Kaine.
If you Google "William Kristol 1993 Health Care Memo" you'll find that's exactly what he said in 1993, and why he said it was imperative that Republicans destroy it completely, rather than compromise. He outlined a proposal for how to do it.
The strategy worked perfectly in 1993 and they're using an identical strategy now. As any good football coach will tell you, there's no reason to stop running a successful offensive play when the defense clearly hasn't figured out a way to block it yet.
Howard is growing such a cute wattle . Every politician who voted for the wall street bailout should lose their job AND their pension, AND their cadillac health care
When, in our history, have we been a better country than what we are today? Give me just one example ! This is the best time in our country. Our past is a past of oppresion of our own people, our workers, before unions, and our women. So when the fuck has our country been better than right now?

George H.W.Bush... no wait, I got it, it was the truthful info about weapons of mass destructions.. that's it, yeah... call it freedom !!! You are so blind !!!!
The saddest thing is there are going to be right-wingers walking around heads held high like they won a battle if the public option dies. Then whatever "reform" is left will fail, the country will suffer more, and in 3 years they will jump up and down shouting, "see, we told you reform was a bad idea."
Without the public option, democrats should vote it down, and then come back with SINGLE PAYER.
And that is exactly what they should have done in the first place. Obama, and the rest of the White House is too afraid of being called Socialist by the neocons. It's ridiculous, supermajority and nothing gets done.

Howard Dean,
TWO TERM GOVERNOR OF VERMONT,
PRESIDENT OF THE DNC (which fueled the biggest Democratic win, in the presidential race, the House and the Senate, since LBJ,)
Himself a doctor. His wife a practicing doctor.
IS AN EXPERT ON HEALTH CARE!!

Well unclebob, if Howard Dean is an idiot,
you better write a letter to the medical school that gave him a Phd in Medicine,
the people of Vermont, who elected him to two terms as governor (which he served, all the way through,)
the Democrats who elected him president of the DNC, where he lead the biggest Democratic victory since LBJ,
and the American people who voted OVERWHELMINGLY DEMOCRAT in the last election.
Is there ever ANY SUBSTANCE in ANYTHING YOU SAY?
