  • incredibile!!! finalmente li ho trovati.... li ascoltavo ogni sera da ragazzina... i segnali di intervallo delle stazioni dell'est europeo nell'era della guerra fredda.... che emozione dava la radio allora...

  • 1:17 RBI :)

  • The birds chirping were from Radio RSA (South Africa), RCI (Canada) also had their chimes in there. RBI (GDR) might also have been represented.

  • @ai4ijoel The birdsong at 2.08 was the interval for RAI, Italy, but did sound very similar to RSA.

  • 2:27 Vatican Radio

  • 1:17 is Radio Berlin International

  • Awesome. I wish the old Soviet Radio Moscow broadcasts were still available. Love the propaganda of how it was "better" there :).

  • Those are old! 1970s?

  • Radio Tirana had a powerful 500,000 watt transmitter and you could hear it all over the USA. I named one of my cats Hoxha after their leader, Comrade Enver Hoxha!

  • 2´50" Radio Netherlands 1975

  • @Ariola5599 And 1965 as well

  • Wonderful sounds. Thanks

  • harre67 you are amazing, what a collection of the best signals ever. The quality is fantastic. I agree with the other posters, you have created a time machine, thank you so much, what great memories.

  • Exactly! I was 15 again listening to this. Oh how I miss those days.

  • Great.... it makes me fell as 15 y/o again, always listening to short wave brodcasting, many things to tell abt that magic time !

  • At 3'20" Radio Norway International!

  • Muy lindo escuchar el pasado en plena "guerra fria". Gracias!

  • Back in the 1970's, Radio Tirana was a real propaganda machine. Talking about what a paradise on earth Albania was and what a Hellhole America was.

  • @bluecatky Wow, we were just chatting about that this evening. I recall the just unending propaganda from Tirana in 1972 and on. I think the only other station today that comes close in in N. Korea, and of course, Radio Havana Cuba.

You cannot imagine the memories hearing that provokes in my mind. Talk about a time machine!

  • I remember many of these from my early 70s shortwave listening days! Those mysterious birds!

  • great sounds!!

  • 1:58 Radio Budapest; 2:10 Radio South Africa internal broadcast usually in indigenous languages

  • Maravillosa! Estas emisoras eran 1980s ,¿verdad?

  • @smartcooky99

at 6:14 surely Radio Switzerland? I remember IKRK broadcasting (int´l red cross) using the same interval signal. Does anyone know?

  • Radio Tirane! Radio Prague! Radio Moscow.... from the USSR! The bells of the Kremlin!Birdsong! It reminds me of being 10 y/o.late 1970's, listening to shortwave on a Hitachi radio cassette, mono, bought by Mum and Dad for my Birthday... thank you. Quite a lumpin my throat, to be honest. And V for Victory at the end.

  • @willcobbett Yeah! My mum and dad got me a Sharp mono cassette radio for xmas 1978 (or '79!) - with a shortwave band. Fantastic - hiding under the bed covers and tuning up and down the band.

  • Very sadly for stations like RTBF, Radio Sweden, Norway International, Slovakia International, Radio Prague, RAI International, which are off air... =((

  • @willcobbett @willcobbett Great, great comment! Shortwave will be forever in our hearts! =(( And some day all the people will come back to SW radio, when the satellite communications will fail.

  • Thank you! I wish your had indicated the names of all the stations. Many I know but not all. Some of them I have never heard this clear. I am sure many would like to know what the tune or code or instument that was used.
