Doesn't the Torah proclaim that the Jews will be persecuted pretty much till the end of the world and God puts his kingdom on earth? It is a miracle that such a hated people for so many years (and such a small country) could still survive. Is there anything the Jew can do to satisfy its neighbors and stop the hatred?
The persecution can be understood on many different levels, but Orthodox Jews believe that this persistent antisemitism is a constant reminder to the Jewish people of their obligations to themselves and the world at large. Consider the following analogy. An overweight person wants to shed some pounds. Instead of wearing his comfy sweat pants he starts wearing jeans that are slightly tight. That constand discomfort reminds him of his need to be healthy.
@thewonderingjew So too with antisemitism. As long as we are constantly being the scapegoat for the worlds problems we will always stand united and remember our heritage and our responsibilities to better ourselves and the world around us.
also the concept of jews not being from europe and being an alien population was originally an opinion held by the jew haters of yesteryear who wanted them to go back where they supposedly came from. All of the european jews always used to deny this. You can confirm this by reading medieval anti jewish texts. This anti jewish view was later adopted by the nazi style racial nationalist zionists during and after world war 2 for their own selfish purposes, not caring about ordinary jews.
our ancestors were not from israel. We ae descended from the khazars who have no semetic blood. They were mostly european with a bit of central asian mixed in. After svyatoslav defeated the khazars they spread all over europe and mixed with the population wherever they went and became more european. Thats why the ashkenazim look as european as any other european except for a more pure khazar such as yourself.
the picture of santa in tafilin reminded me of a story of my mothers boss going to sum ones suka for yuntif and seeing santa lights all around when she asked why they had lights with santa on them up they responded its the red rebi
You are asking an excellent question! The answer is really long and involved, but like all other monotheistic religions, there is a concept of "the End of Days". The term “End of Days” is taken from Numbers 24:4. Essentially this concept involves the coming of the "anointed one" or messiah. If you look under the "Essentials" section of Chabad.org you can find the answer in greater detail. Thank you for writing.
because reform a jews are much more accepting of converts (more YAY :) ) I think it has made jew-ery as a whole more accessible to non-jews who may suddenly be related to jews via marriage I think a lot of anti-semitism comes from not experiencing the jews are cool people thing which in some places was not helped by the sometimes very different, although good, habits of jews who lived segregated lives from non-jews
There is a video that may shed light on your question. Type Prager University: The Middle East Problem. Thank you for writing and thank you for watching.
@Hechtie18 Because it's part of the prophecy. read psalms 83 for just an example ("come, they say, let us destroy them as a nation so that the name of Israel in rememberd no more...")
I have a question that had me wondering for quite a bit: i know that at the time of the egytipans, the Jews could not have possess of money, and so their main way of trading was with precious gems. Do you know any correlation of this fact ant the notion that in the word jewlerly there is the word... Well, jew?
@matteolima From Wikipedia: The word jewellery itself is derived from the word jewel, which was anglicized from the Old French "jouel", and beyond that, to the Latin word "jocale", meaning plaything.
Excellent question but the relevance to the similarity of the word Jew and the word jewelry has as much to do as the word polish (to shine) and the word Polish (the nationality.
The word jewelry has its etymology from a late 14th century Old French word, juelrye, which means adornment.
The word Jew comes from the ancient Hebrew word Yehudi. So while in our modern language they seem similar they actually have their origins in two completely different languages.
more Zyklon-B thanx.

God is all about the marginalised and abused. Jews are perhaps the most abused and blessed race of all.
