Layne and Jerry were like John and Paul. Sure Jerry was/is amazing, one of the greatest songwriters ever actually. But to say that he was 90 % of aic is like saying Paul was 90 % of the Beatles.

I keep hearing about how Duvall, is trying to replace Layne. He doesn't look or sound anything like Layne. I've seen AIC twice with Duvall and he rocks! Most of the time Cantrell was harmonizing with Layne anyway, and when he harmonizes with Duvall it sounds the same. It's not that Duvall sounds or is trying to sound like Layne. When he sings with Cantrell it sounds like Alice In Chains. Most of you won't like this either but where Layne had a distinct voice, Duvall is a better Singer.
I think the only way they would have stepped on the legacy is if they got a layne copy. This is a new AIC and they dont wanna degrade Laynes legacy at all.

It would have been a complete slap in the face to the music world to not continue. The only complaint I have is why did it take so long? Granted, Layne will be remembered as one of the greatest singers of our time but you can't just let the music die with him. It must live on, their music is too important to be silenced.

Been listening to this song a lot lately.. DuVall did a good job IMO. Of course it's not Layne and some of DuVall's attempts at other AIC songs aren't perfect but I respect what AIC decided to do... I'll be getting their new album.

He surprised the hell my buds and I when we saw them play over the summer. We actually thought when we showed up five minutes into the concert that a CD was playing the song "Again" over the PA's but when we finally got over the ridge we soon discovered that it was Duvall singing.
I saw an AIC Acoustic Show October 2007 at MBHOB. They opened with this song. The entire show was pure magic. I have never experienced a more intimate band-audience connection and I have been to lots of concerts. Jerry, Mike and Sean have every right to keep Alice alive. I don't believe Layne would have wanted Alice to die with him.

I understand people being upset about the replacement of Layne, but if you were Cantrell and you poured your soul out countless times into the song repertoire of Alice in Chains and when one of your band mates, unfortunately the front man abandons the band and passes away--why should you have to lock up all those great songs and never perform again even though most of the band is still around and plenty of great singers out there to carry on the legacy of Alice in Chains?

Been listening to this song a lot lately.. DuVall did a good job IMO. Of course it's not Layne and some of DuVall's attempts at other AIC songs aren't perfect but I respect what AIC decided to do... I'll be getting their new album.

First of all, I would like to say there will only be one Layne but if you haven't heard the new lead singer for AIC, please check out my videos!
He surprised the hell my buds and I when we saw them play over the summer. We actually thought when we showed up five minutes into the concert that a CD was playing the song "Again" over the PA's but when we finally got over the ridge we soon discovered that it was Duvall singing.

I saw an AIC Acoustic Show October 2007 at MBHOB. They opened with this song. The entire show was pure magic. I have never experienced a more intimate band-audience connection and I have been to lots of concerts. Jerry, Mike and Sean have every right to keep Alice alive. I don't believe Layne would have wanted Alice to die with him.

Why does everyone like to hate on William Duvall? Obviously, he has some HUGE shoes to fill. He is replacing one of the greatest voices of all time, if not the greatest. I've seen them twice, and he absolutely NAILS the songs. I saw them at Metro in Chicago when they just started out, and I promise everyone in that place LOVED the way he sings these songs. Layne is dead, guys. It's really sad, but at least the music will live on. Still waiting for the new album... keep hearing rumors...
