  • how much actual honeycomb, or honeycomb layers is in the stock cat?

  • lol dontcha ya know, EH!

  • all you have to do is get some scrap exhaust tubing and hallow out the cats

  • at the end u sound kinda queerish, no offense just sayin

  • @44boman he's canadian dude. They all sound like that. I have tons of family up there, believe me I know.

  • Is there an sensor behind the cat like there are on gas trucks with the 02 sensors? The reason I ask is because I want to do this but I dont want it throwing a code and turning my SES light on.

  • @vortec350chevy There is no 02 sensors until 08 but if u have a 06 lly or lbz the egr and mass air flow are tied into each other and measures your emissions thru those 2 by measuring flow rates on both ends and if you trip insuficient flow on the egr end it'll trip your light and can throw your rig into limpmode on a 06 and up without a programer to trick the ecm

  • @yotamobber Alright, thanks. I should be fine then. Its an 05 LLY

  • Nice D-max. Dieselplace is a great forum , lots of help for my 6.5 bucket truck.

    Nice garage too.

  • I wanna do that to my stock 06 LLY, but I hear if you take the cat out it will mess with your egr and throw a code is that true?

  • Good video. How's the horsepower difference and how's mpg.

  • flex pipe rots out no matter what up here in northern maine with all the salt and calcium on the roads. you keep saying 4 inch but it looks like a stalk exhaust which is only 3 something. another thing is how did u put a straight pipe where the muffler was without making your tailpipe hang and be uneven and wierd if the inlet and outlet arent lined up on a duramax? Nice job anyway, i just wouldnt have done flex pipe by the cat.

  • Well your absolutely right... flex pipe rotts in salt and calcium. I live in Northern Ontario and I know what thats about. The reason that I used flex was because the exhaust was not the original one from Cat back and had some bends in it where the flex pipe had to go. So that was my only option. From motor to Cat it's a 3.5", and from Cat back it's 4". As far as ligning up the exhaust tip.... just take your time and support it with something where you want it... then connect it to the exhaust.

  • nice, when i did mine i cut the cat out and welded a straight solid pipe, and the muffler i welded two 20 or so degree angles on each side where i cut so i could run a solid pipe. Now i got an mbrp turbo back exhaust with an ats 4 inch downpipe. had no choice with the aurora 6000 turbo.

  • Nice!! Thats gonna be a BAD truck! I want to get a bigger turbo.... but now my tranny's gonna have to get rebuilt again. I don't know.... it's one if those things that eventually enough money is spent on a vehicule.

  • to be honest the allison will last quite awhile with alot of mods considering it is the best in its class. all depends on how you run it. i got a sunco on mine and i love it, doesnt miss a beat, and i am currently running around 850hp for a rough estimate. If you looking for some good mods go with e.f.i. live, its pretty much any kind of tune that you want.

  • Truck sounds great...!

  • does anyone no what size pipe comes on the 04 LB7 cause im looking to take the muffler off and need to know what size it is???

  • 3-1/2"

  • All a cat on a diesel does is act like a soot trap i took mine offf who needs that shit its just extra weight

  • Hell you'd be better off just splicing in a 4 inch cutout, so it could be super loud, or quiet, whenever you decide.

  • were did u get the adapters

  • EY AM CANADIAN EY FROM ONTARIO EY

    hhhhhhh fucking morons

  • that's how we do it in America. not russia, not czech, not anywhere else.

  • sounds like poo

  • If you take your cat and your muffler off it will be straight pipe. Hence it will cound awesome! It's been a year now since I have done this and I don't regret it one bit.

  • why does it sound better so your saying if i cut the cat off my truck it will sound better don't know any thing about trucks

  • no, no dont cut ur cat off without any programing. you cut it off with nothin to program, ur engine will start but will shut off automatically because it senses a problem, u nver get to use ur truck again. ur warranty be void and u have to pay big doe to get it fixed by a another person. depends on what model truck u have, year wise i mean.

  • No, diesels don't care if the cat is there or not. No sensors involved. Matter of fact the federal emissions early '04 and older didn't come with them installed. The truck will run fine...but the cops won't like it very much.

  • Your truck wont shut off if you cut the cat and muffler out this guy doesent know anything. This truck is a 2004 so it dont got any sensers. My buddy has a 2006 LBZ and we did the same thing choped the cat and muffler and dident throw any codes. Nor did my 2005 when i piped it.

And it wont void your warrenty diesels dont need cats. And you dont need programing for this mod

  • So i should cut off mines from my LBZ?! haha if what your saying is true then hell ima cut mines off right now!

  • Yes you should.

  • I have the truck in the shop right now ... should i do it like the guy in this video did? how did u do yours?

  • U can do it how ever u want. I just cut my cat out and welded a piece of pipe in place. I don't like that shitty flex pipe As for the back muffler you half to take it to the muffler shop and get them to bend a piece of pipe around the axle i think it cose me $60 then your golden

  • i have a cat back banks power exhaust on right now and all i have to do it take off the cat and im good to go. but if i just put a flex pipe for now will that work out? and if i get it to a pipe later on will i still have to take it to a muffler shop to bent some pipes were that cat was or can i just put a straight pipe in that place?

  • This dude is a moron...

  • that sounds good

  • sounds so nice. Isent it illegal to cut off the cat tho? i want to do it to my lbz but the only thing stoping me is getting caught.

  • not on a diesel i have a 2002 durmax silverado and it sounds amazing

  • Cut your cat right out and replace it with pipe you wont get that bark if u just gut that cat and weld it back together its acts as a baffle when its empty

  • Did removing the cat set off any codes or check engine light?

  • no there were no codes that came up.

  • Do you think there is any possible way to get the cat off without cutting it on both sides? because i have a pipe that clamps to the downpipe and goes to where the cat's pipe ends.

  • Well if your cat is clamped to the downpipe and also clamped to the exhaust.. then just unbolt it. If all else fails just cut it with a sawsall... then just do what I did to go straight pipe.

  • You two Canadians sound Canadian.

  • I have that exact modification... Deam I like it soo much.. Recommended. for Hi entusiasts. Plus.. A Better performance..

  • Sorry man that is not a resinator.. it's a cat. The resinator is on the top of the engine to muffle sound of the intake. May people remove it to make your engine louder and to hear your turbo more.

  • thats not a cat. its a resinator or an extra muffler put on 2/3s of the trucks produced.

  • Those are my winter tires and rims. They are Yokoyama ITGO72. 315/50/16. They are very good in deep snow and slush. Although if I would have to restart I would get a norrower tire to "cut" through deep snow. But all in all I really like them.

  • what size rims and tires are you running?

  • it's a 6" Procomp.

  • had to watch it again .. what is the lift on your truck?

  • wow unleashed the beast! sounds nice

  • Duramax engines don't have silencer rings. It's a good thought.

  • you should now remove the silencer ring on the turbo to have a really sweet whistle since you've gone this far.

  • Just the video I was looking for thanks!!...lol. I swear you can find anything on the net these days.

  • Sharp looking truck

  • Nice truck! Sounds good too bud!

  • nice video, truck sounds SWEET!!!
