This is disturbing! Have you ever heard of the Marine Mammal Protection act? This is a baby sea lion (not a seal) and harassing it like that is not only against the law, it is mean and immoral. You are laughing seeing it being disturbed? You're a jerk! Mothers leave their pups on shore while hunting for food - LEAVE IT ALONE!
It's kool to look up at them upclose..putting your foot too close may not have been too well of an idea..but even though they did that, it honestly wasn't wise for the "guide" to not say anything about it either. If the guide said,"dont touch the seal" then i would be like wtf r u doing? but the thing is, the guide didnt seem to care much. Whats a person who MIGHT not know too much about an animal to do unless told not to do something?

This is why you call a professional. In the States you call a humane society or similar who will send trained professionals and behaviorists to observe the baby seal for a few days and then take it to a facility to be care for should they determine it was abandoned by its mother.
You were supposed to leave it alone. talking to it's fin but tuching it is bad. great now the mom may never want it. It oviusly wants you to go away... look how it was moving away!
You should never touch a baby seal. When mom comes back she cant smell her baby, only human scent, and this is how babies get abandoned. Moms leave for food but they always come back to their baby unless something happened to them.
You guys should not have gone near the baby seal. The mother would smell human scent and abandon the baby because you guys had been too close to the baby.
