  • Heard this on Pandora. Oh wow. It's great!

  • this song should sound in the end times.

  • as a spaghetti western lover, I dislike it that most people know this song because of Kill Bill. I should actually be glad that Tarantino makes much more people appreciate Morricone's work, but no-one knows the original meaning of this music.

  • @PaulRietvoorn The Mercenary is sik, so is Kill Bill. Two different interpretations that work just as well as each other! Such is the magic of Tarantino.

  • @PaulRietvoorn who cares where they heard it. That's a little selfish to think people should only appreciate something good because of one source. I heard this from Kill Bill, but then I wanted to know who wrote the song, and before I knew it I was watching Fistful of Dollars, Magnificent Seven, etc. Hearing this music in a non-western film doesn't make it sound worse, if anything it's good that people are getting exposed to something they might not have considered before.

  • great ennio great movie

  • HAHAHAHAHA!!! I'M BACK! ''Happy new year!!! to all Ennio M. fans' peace ... from tucamcari mexico,

  • fantastic song.

  • Listening to this SONG will enable you to conquer anything in LIFE!!!! Inspirational!!!

  • there are few things in life which are awesome. this is one of them

  • Es preciosa ^^

  • My funeral:

    this song is played

    Song ends

I come out of the coffin

    "play it again"

  • @grungeallaround94 you should ask for Copyrights to QT :)

  • @vToNdKiNGz i hope you mean copyrights from sergio corbucci and ennio

  • @8down10 No wasn't talkin about Music....but about scene

  • This song plays in my head every time I drunkenly force myself out of bed in the morning.

  • half of this video views are coming from my IP address

  • People are acting like Tarantino himself isn't on the level of Corbucci, the guy is a great director as well.

  • @MrSoprano92 they both are but Corbucci is very underrated, at least his westerns are, even though his westerns are probably on the same level as Tarantino's movies and some such as this one and Companeros are actually better than most of Tarantino's work in my opinion, but Corbucci never gets the credit he deserves by most :/

  • @8down10 Damn right. Also props for mentioning Companeros, that's my all time favorite western.

  • @MrSoprano92 Tarantino isn't on Corbucci's level. Don't get me wrong I love Pulp Fiction and Inglourious Basterds, But Sergio Corbucci is an infinitely better filmmaker than Quentin Tarantino. It's not even close.

  • @FesteringHeadsFilm Hate to break it to you but, opinions aren't equivalent to facts.

  • @xmastamurfx

This what you say is very wise, and you are damn right.

90% of People dont understand the difference between own opinion and facts....

  • @FesteringHeadsFilm There's no point of comparision, they're two very different kinds of cinema.

  • Everytime I watch this shootout I smile. I can't help but smile. I have probably watched it over 30 times and it never gets old. It gets better everytime! Great movie, great score!

  • Old songs being recycled in new culture is never a bad thing; stop trying to act cool by attacking fans of a different era. We all love the music, regardless of when/where we first heard it.

  • @PedanticNo1 Hundreds of comments about Tarantino is fine, but when a couple of people mention that this ISN'T originally from a Tarantino film (and mentioning that Corbucci is a better filmmaker) and you think you're under attack. Grow a pair and watch better movies.

  • I'll admit I was brought here by the Tarantino film Kill Bill, but by placing these songs in his films he acknowledges Morricone's genius just as much as the people who looked for it. In addition it also led us to the Corbucci film! We know already so lay off!

  • @Mizukage6 very much agreed kind sir

  • it shows how many people have missed out on watching some of corbucci's finest work, when all i see for comments here is something about a tarantino film and punching through coffins!!!

  • You people do realize this is from The Mercenary, starring the Franco Nero, Tony Musante and Jack Palance, Directed by the great (and I do mean fucking great) Sergio Corbucci? Just curious.

  • At 2:36 Start punching though the coffin.

  • now i wanna punch through plywood from 3 inches away

  • move that big toe!!! kill bill vol 1

  • I have found it after all these years... thank you... I love it.... weep with me, oh Lord...

  • this is a good song to play at a military funeral for a fallen solider family

  • " There comes a time when one must ask, even of Shakespeare, even of Beethoven, " Is that all there is? "

    ~ George Bernard Shaw ~

  • like all of ennios scores, nothing short of near perfection

  • No one can know for sure if Heaven exists, or if God created the earth. But Ennio Morricone proofs here that something divine must exist. Music like this proofs there is something more then what we know. Something above us, something pure, something sacret

  • Can anybody identify the music from this advert "Kelloggs - Crunchy Nut - Flush Him Out - UK Advert" Its a total rip off of L'arena but ironically is probably more well known in Britain and Ireland than the original. It was in a number of adverts in the 80s.

  • I'm gonna eat spaghetti and watch this in an hour or two.

  • Great song from a great movie.

  • Chills!

  • dobre to jest

  • Best soundtrack ever written..for the best western ever filmed..

  • sometimes its better to know the truth .. never regret .. be patient .. open new doors ...

  • sans tarentino et son kill bill je n aurais su cette belle musique d ennio.car trop jeune quant ce film est sorti ! donc merci a quentin d avoir remis au gout du jour cette superbe musique ! morricone est fantastique !!!!!

  • I think alot of the time allesondro allesondroni(not sure if my italian is right)does not get enough credit. He does the whistling and guitar playing in most of Ennio (I think) and when I listen to morricone thats the part that sets it off as so original sounding, to me at least.I think both of them together is what made them so good to begin with.

  • Ok Pai mei, here I go

  • @stendeb * Ok Pai Mei, here I come. Just sayin'

  • @MrXDMonkey Haha I've always heard it as 'here I go' but I've just had a closer listen and you're right, Top marks to you :)

  • i feel like if i get buried alive..i'll be ok..i can break out

  • 1:30

  • I wanted this song to be played at my funeral, but then I realized I would come out of the coffin so I changed the testament.

  • @nff87

Maybe someone played this at Jesus' funeral ;)

  • ok. con esto es suficiente

  • Does anyone know the notes for the trumpet solo that comes in out of nowhere

  • This song is exquisite, probably my most favorite. Gotta love that trumpet solo.

  • This song is so good, and I want to learn it!

Does anyone know the trumpet notes where he comes in around 1:20?

  • @PullMyPeeper this is quite possibly the coolest comment i've seen on here. great job

  • @PullMyPeeper Bahahaha fucking lol!

  • @PullMyPeeper may god help you

  • @PullMyPeeper

is there anything else, you wanna tell uy about your farting habits?

  • Comment removed

  • @PullMyPeeper

Your comment is exactly as necessary as your farts, you muppet. If you have to say you like it then say it, if you have to say you don't like it then say it.

I have to say ... I love it. I heard it in cinema when I was young, I heard it now and right away I remembered. It's one of the best Morricone tunes.

  • @quaqua1qua

    i like it

  • @quaqua1qua Yes, but it does come across as something that the gunfighter might have said...then shot the bum. ;^) Never take life any more serious than you take death seriously. Me I love this tune, the irony you missed was how well it fits the movie and many others as well. Me? I don't take life or death serious unless someone is paying, then I'm serious.

  • This piece of music is so good it makes me wanna see the film. It can't be a bad one with this theme...

  • OKEY PAI MEI HERE I GO

  • I don't like this song,

I LOVE IT! I WANNA HAVE SEX WITH IT AND HAVE SEX WITH THE OFFSPRING IF ITS PIC ENOUGH!!

  • genius

  • BRB Punchin mah way outta a coffen

  • best song ever, i just watch spaghetti western. grande ennio, il migliore.

  • @varfordojesus, Good opinion but little value, with or without Morricone (he is the best) the West is the West. Before Morricone there was the West. Maybe, just maybe, the West made Morricone. The movies do not necessary reflect the life of our Western lifestyle. I live in the West, the cowboy life.

  • Ennio Morricone is the one who created the western spirit in my opinion. The movies wouldnt have been much without this astonishing music. Just take "Le Clan Des Siciliens" or "Pour une Poignee Des Dollars" as another example. Im certain of the fact that if Mozart lived today he would also have used modern instruments as electric guitars etc. And in my opinion morricone combine instuments in a perfect way. A true talent!!!

ennio morricone is the best composer from italy since verdi

  • a masterppiece

ennio morricone is the best composer from italy since verdi

  • Beautiful!

  • A magnificent theme with the use of full orchestra, plus the chorus with the brass and guitar parts as well as the shares of other well-known music and Morricone`s instruments. Outstanding is the section between 4:06 and 4:10 minute, which means the final of the gunfight! I know quite well the film music the great composer E. Morricone as and the film music of others great composers the film music and it seems to me that this topic is unsurpassed, unique!

  • One of my favorite pieces of music, ever. Ennio Morricone is the best composer out there...

This piece defines what is like facing any kind of situation and coming out victorious

  • In Memoriam: I would like to dedicate this music to the life of Policeman Hostage-taker for his bravery dying in a shootout fighting against the rotten system a Callous gullibility of governance from an inexperience Leader… I respectfully salute you Sir! Your life sacrifice’ surely did not died in vain. It was every ones freedom that you died for. r.i.p.

  • This is so awesome.. it defines awesome! Nothing says Western like this song!

  • Epic!

  • Ok! non mi avete ucciso....

adesso vengo lì e vi spacco il culo...

.. non avete scampo ...e lo sapete.

Una bella metafora della vita che questa musica rende perfettamente!

    GRANDE ENNIO

  • Ennio Morricone is the best musician who ever lived.

  • @WineK0ne

He's good, but isn't that a bit of a stretch saying he's the "best in the world"?

  • @selectahealey MAYBE BUT HE HAS A GREAT TASTE IN MUSIC.

  • The first 90 seconds of this are absolutely stunning.

  • one of the best songs from Morricone. Love it!

  • @selectahealey lmao legend :P

  • I love this movie! 5 stars & favorite.

  • Ennio Morricone ist der beste Komponist für Filmmusik.

  • This scene was great in The Mercenary, the rest of the movie was worth watching to get to the arena scene.

  • WOW

  • Superb music. Ennio is one of the very best.

  • I realize why I like Tarrantino films now, not because he is great at making movies, but his choice of music.

Personally I didn't think Inglorious Basterds was that great (7.8/10), but there was this one part where he used a song from Kill Bill and I can't get over that scene.

    Ennio FTW!

  • Word!

  • you mean inglourious ;)

  • @reedeema LMAO... epic comment... high five me' pal!!!

  • tarantino? huh?

ALL, and i mean ALL credits go to ennio!

    i love you ennio!

  • @whattaphuck Let's not forget about Sergio Corbucci now

  • best

  • I've just found out that my mum has bought me two tickets to see the maestro play at the Albert Hall.

I can't explain the feeling I get knowing I will see him perform live. Dream come true.

  • This will never,

    EVER,

    get old.

  • This beautiful piece represents Morricone at the height of his musical brilliance.

  • Is this the greatest song ever written? Thumb your vote.

  • @darmani212 Really? I love Ennio Morricone's Navajo Joe more than anything. But this is pretty epic too.

  • @darmani212 that song and the good bad ungly

  • I absolutely LOVE this number. when ever Ive had a bad day or if Ive just plain old been heart broken I put this on and it makes me feel so much better. Ennio Morricone is quite possibly the most underrated composer in music and L'Arena is a perfect example of his greatness.

  • Grazie, Maestro, grazie infinite...

    Sal

  • just got 3 CD Morricone Platinum Collection -- neither this song, Navajo Joe, or The Big Gundown are anywhere on the collection !!? what a jip

  • Marvelous, thank you Tarantino!

  • kurbiatch, Tarantino had nothing to do with this masterpiece. Thank Morricone.

  • No shit! But he place it at the exactly right place in his movie! He's a genious in that way. But, your right, the graditute should also be hailed at the fantastic composer Ennio Morricone! :-)

  • ennio is fantastic

  • parabens morricone, minha infancia se foi, mas atraves de voce volto a ela por uns minutos.Saudades

  • fantastic soundtrack from Il Mercenario Italowestern!

In Kill Bill its only the copy of that song...but anyway, always like to listen to Ennio Morricone!

  • estupendo

  • Kill Bill pieno!! questa è fantastica

  • estan musica es para alma

  • tem razão, lembro da minha infancia

  • masterpiece

  • É muita música para pouco filme...quantos filmes do passado lembramos hoje somente através das sua músicas. Só o tempo mostra que a musica do mestre é muito maior que os filmes. Quantas estatuetas "oscar" lhe foram negadas?

  • morricone is god

  • ennio! you are a genius!!

  • Ennio Morricone was made for the western genre.

  • When I study for finals or have a hard time writing papers, I pop in this song and I get the strength to punch through that coffin known as school.
