Man!!! I love this track. I don't understand how anybody can not feel and appreciate this shit. This is real hip hop.......Brings back a lot of memories.
This is my favorite song off of this album. I'm not from Philly ( But always had love for Philly ) , But the picture painted on this song puts me right in the streets of Philly , in the mix of all of that shit. I always had believed that everyone had killed this track , but Dice and Malik's verses stood out.
If you from uptown you gotta feel every word of Malik B's verse, that was about as accurate as you could get about uptown back in the day, cats rolling with sheepskins, cazals and kicks getting patent leather adidas snatched off they feet the crippled can't walk for weeks, herringbone chains snatched in west oak lane, strolling in dollar basement house parties wearing win breakers. Taking everybody for a vic thats how we think. Cats pulling cards if you walk around all hard? Uptown first malik.
i like how the production on this album is kind of the transition from the older more jazz oriented roots instrumental sound to their newer/darker/more sonically diverse sound
This shit brings me back in time when I got the double LP ON VINYL and recorded to tdk tape , and in the winter mornings I'd roll a joint go to work in this shitty warehouse and listen to this real shit on the bus and train ............ EXCELLENT JOINT
Yo..i remeber when this joint came out..we used to rock this CD until it got so scrached you could not play it anymore...i knew every word..and it may be one of the first time in a Philly hip hop song where they shout out the hoods in the city...besides Cool C and the Hill Top Hustlers..this was one of my fav joints off the LP...def 5 stars
This is da realest hip-hop that ive ever heard...no one can top this, especially none of tht current mainstream trash we hear blastin on the radio now

Such a dope song. As dope as the album is, sometimes I play it just to hear this song.
Another song that has this effect on me is Rainy Dayz from Rae and Ghost's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx.
Long live hip-hop.
FoxtheSxy 2 years ago 4
Rainy Dayz is better than sum whole albums, i cud listen to that song on repeat 12 times rather than listen to sum average album!
