  • what voice modulator did they use?

  • Spare parts is a little freaky when you think about how cooly the cyberborgs logically decide to convert everyone when faced with a crisis.

  • Why were there two types of cybermen voices? One sounds like Tenth Planet and the other sounds like Tomb...

  • ironic that this is set pre tenth planet and yet they sound better than in that story. there is an awesome aside int hsi story which says that Mondas did away with the aristorcray a nice reference to the Russian Tsar and his family as the Cybermen are/were a partially a paralell to the soviets just as the Daleks were paralells tot he Nazis

  • @227060 Great comment, I enjoyed reading it.I suppose most sci fi writers not just Dr Who could draw parallels to real world cultural & historical advesaries.I think the cybermen as well reflected a fear of medical & scientific research into replacing organs & limbs with mechanical implants like heart pace makers ect. & were would it end. Thanks as well for watching mate. :)

  • @Fraust66 u are welcome. i think more than the communist thing, your ideas of what the Cybermen represent arew accurate and in an age of high street plastic surgery and ever growing technology they are still relevent villains today. i mean if they were just communists they would've died out in TV, audio and print form by now

  • Gawd I love the computer's voice, that is what I would call a cyberman's voice - totally electronic 8)

  • @lilmissglentoran I agree with you there, the voices are a real throwback to 'The Tenth Planet'.With your name

you must come from Belfast.I live in Dondonald. Thanks for watching as well. :)

  • I want to see old cybermen vs new ones on the t.v. show

  • @Jerrytcale I think they probbaly ould just share technolgy at this point. for 1 thing. somehow the Mondas Cybermen look like the Cybus Cybermen, so i dunno, maybe they did meet up and shared technology. or maybe stole it from the Cybus ones, ore discovered Cybus tech. or maybe thier tech found its way to the paralell world and from that the Cybus version developed hence the similarities. maybe by complete chance they developed along similar lines

  • that voice of the computer is so really creepy, it's scareing me....LOL, I think they should use that scary voice in doctor who, that will make the kid screamish.

  • I'd bring back the body bag gimp faces they are really creepy.

  • Loving this. Much spookier than the Cybus lot if only they had gone down a path more like this.

  • About 32 million times better than Dreamland.

  • I can understand the goal (saving the population from freezing to death) but the methods are just as horrendous.

  • The Cyberman's strutting, masterful like walk at the start is great. This is how they should move, not like the cartoonish mincing about of the new series Cybermen. Powerful work, well done.

  • @uncled39 Thanks for watching uncled39 & thanks for the nice comments, it is

    well appreciated. :)

  • Excellent job. The only thing is that the Mark 1 and 2 Cybermen have the same models, but screw that as both are similar and it probably took you a very long time to create the models. Either way, this = EPIC win.

  • @TheMrCaddyshack Thanks for watching. The cyberman was made from bits & pieces found

over the internet as Daz Studio isnt really a model making program.Happy new year as well. :)

  • Excellently scary! Cyberman design looks like the original. Much more scary as opposed to latest version which are just a joke. Well done and more please!!

  • @silajeep1 I disagree, the new cyberman look pretty great. I love both models, but the new ones have more of a hard, cold edge to them, whereas the first ones felt more organic. I think the new looks suits their main goal (mercilessly assimilating everyone).

  • Amazing.

  • Something, that are nightmares of made of!

  • Why is the head unit different from the originals?

  • Absolutly wonderful CG amimation and beautifully synched with the audio, LOVE IT! :D

  • @Herow93 Thanks for watching mate, glad you enjoyed it. :)

  • @Fraust66 Are you at any point going to do a full scale doctor who adventure with the cg softwear? I'm sure many people would be interested in seeing one, I know I would! :)

  • @Herow93 I would only Im a bit of a pc game head.Fallout New Vegas is just out & its sucking most of my free time. Before that I was playing Mount & Blade Warband.I hope to start a scene from the genocide machine soon. :D

  • @Fraust66 Oh yer

new vegas will be the death of my xbox

i'll be gladly watching out for your new scene

keep up the good work! :D

  • wasnt this an audio tape and have u just done a cover with animation

  • @TheNERFDUDE97 Yes this is a short edit from the audio play by Big Finish. Thanks for watching. :)

  • the original cyber-voices were sooooo good!

  • the leaders voice is outstanding

  • Lovin it, well done.

  • Wow! Great animation fantastic voices. I love the Tenth Planet voices, almost human but really creepy.Always liked the first Cybermen. That's how to do it. Must admit I do like The Invasion cybermen too.

  • @peggymount Thanks for watching & great comment as well. :D

  • i always pictured this as tenth planet cyberman only a bit more crude. but love your cyberman and animation.

  • Wrong Cybermen model, it should be the ones from Tenth Planet.

  • Very good - I would love to see more. I wish they kept these voices because they sound very menacing.

  • does the audio have narration?

  • I love the design...it's like a cross between the first Tenth Planet Cybermen, and the cybermen from Moonbase.

  • loool. Well done! I can't believe Cybermen sounded like that once upon a time!

  • It actually is not the Cyberman model from the Tenth Planet-sorry, sorry, I know.

  • this is awesome !!!

  • Brrrr... The Tenth Planet Cybermen voices were absolutely chilling. I'd LOVE to get Spare Parts, but I don't think it's available anymore!

  • @happinesspatrol actually its on sale on Amazon! look it up! hope it helps!

  • ... I can't. I really can't. ... Will there be daleks? They could do the rock music xD Haha...

  • I've never hear a cyberman sound so... *musical* before xD

  • That's how they sounded in the Tenth Planet (their first appearance). The main computer voice that is.

  • Haha xD Born out of techno... They really are evil.

  • Oops I mena the Cyberman sounds like their first appearance, the computer sounds like the original Cylons.

  • That's exactly what I thought.

  • It takes a lot to impress me.........well I'm impressed.

  • Thanks Keith2855,hope you have a happy new year mate. :)

  • Wat an amazin video!!

  • I really can't believe the quality of the Visiual & Sound detail of this sick guys videos. I'm in love with all those old soundscapes of Peter Zinovieff, Delia Derbyshire, Radiophonic workshop etc. And these sounds are delicious!

  • The Commitee/Cyberplanner (big computer thingy with lights) sounds like the Cylons in the old version of Battlestar Galactica. (Thats not a bad thing by the way just an observation)

    "By your command!"

  • @cbatt91337 lol that's what I was thinking :)

  • what is the name of the robot that is talking to the cyberman?

  • I think it was called "The Committee."

  • Sounds like the Controller from Tomb.

  • this is brilliant. now if only somehow you could create a primitive many headed hydra, swollen heads wired into the system, disregarded bodies withered like rotten fruit.... that would be fantastic

  • AWESOME!

  • the cyberman sound like a cracked record!

  • uve got some cool stuff on ur page

  • That animation was really great! What a good idea to start animating Big

Finish material. Well worth the effort.

  • That was really, really good. :)

  • WOW! Cybermen that don't march! You must have been inspired by the classic series!

  • Zheng is awsome! Like this animation! That voice is just scarey...Tenth Planet cybermen have always facinated me.

  • They are the best looking & they stick to Peddler & Davies' original idea.

below that cloth face is a skeletal completion with some facial tissue.

The Daleks haven't really changed that much from Terry Nation's original conception

  • Absoutly corect. And i didnt realise their was that much human matieral left in just the facial area. I know they were suppost to be half and half, unlike the Russel T Davis concept just incertied brains. Not very convincing and a bit ott. Ive been a long life fan of Doctor Who and the cybermen have always facinated me-these ones in perticular as its a terrifing thought that one day we shall ''Be Like Us...''

  • The original cybermen still had alot of flesh. I imagine them under all the clothing as having a sort of human torso that has been augmented. Severed arms and legs with robotic replacements but keeping the cold dead fleshy hands, and also metal components protruding from here and there. So it'd look almost crude and as if it had been brutal surgery. But as they advance throughout the series they'd almost perfect it.

  • Great, it's a pity that RTD has fucked up the new series Cybermen!

  • Fantastic. New series Cybermen should be like this.

  • I like your design of cyberman I like the way the chest unit looks, simulating heart, lungs, intestines and other internal parts.

  • I love the movements of the cybermen...keep working my friend

  • I like the way the light plays over Zheng's face and, for instance, at 0:55 appears to completely bleach it out. Shades of The Tenth Planet cloth faces.

    Very well done.

  • Cool! must of took you ages to make

    Excellent stuff!

  • at first the tenth planet voices can sound almost funny ,but as you hear more they become the most sinister of them all .

  • Good comment,I agree totally.Thanks for watching. :)

  • The voices remind me of a compter scanning the function of a long dead larnyx before choosing what sylabals and consenents to use. And that makes it sound creepier.

  • i agree ,a great concept ,spot on my freind .

  • I always loved the Tenth Planet voices because they sounded so unnatural, but they weren't like the computerized voices from Tomb, or the Moonbase, almost like they had a vestige of humanity left. They sounded like ordinary syllables being pieced together...

  • It's like a computer is scanning the function of a dead larnyx, using it as best it can to form words.

  • @doctorwho19632004 I think its because it's just plain inhuman, you can't normally replicate this sound with your voice, it conjures to mind something that is very less alive and far more machine.

The atmosphere in these videos are actually quite chilling, much scarier than how the Cybermen in the 2006 series where portrayed.

  • @doctorwho19632004 I know they sound really sinister in spare parts, and the computer is really emotionless and scary.

  • It baffles me that they aren't doing this sort of thing commercially, not just for the missing episodes but the BF's as well. I'd be much more interested in them if you could actually WATCH them.

  • This is astoundingly brilliant, more, more more! :D

  • Hi thanks for watching,I have a 2nd video from Spare Parts uploaded. :D

  • One of the best audio adventures and a fantastic piece of work by yourself!

    Wonderful stuff.

  • Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it. :D

  • sorry to ask but what does that computer thingy do in the actual story.

  • That computer is the Commitee. A conglomeration of cybernetic minds present in one machine. They make the decisions when their leader Doctorman Allan is not in the Mondasian palace. They give their orders to Commander Zheng who issues them to his police force of cybermen.

  • hmmmmm interesting

  • Very good, I really liked this, the walking animation, it really pulls the whole scene together.

I am suprised you used DAZ though, It's not often something of such quality comes from that, in my view.

    Cheers,

    Aaron

  • Hi Aaron thanks for watching & commenting,it is much appreciated.

Daz is a great program to work in as the interface is quick & easy to learn. This video was rendered in openGL,so each frame rendered at about 2 to 3 seconds.

The software renderer is slower but is easily as capable of producing results on a par with poser, which costs a good bit more. All the best,fraust66. :)

  • Honestly, I have never really used Daz, being a Maya Man myself- but have really considered using it before.

With the characters, do you need to rig/ bone them manually, or is there some kind of automated human character setup?

Also, did you animate the walk cycle by hand?- or is there some kind of automated set-up for that. It looks very good, something I have always struggled to do.

    Cheers

    Aaron

  • This is wonderful stuff! There is only one slight problem, the Cybermen in this story are meant to look like the ones from The Tenth Planet or possibly even more primitive. So the face should be covered with a cloth-like material rather than metal. Still brilliant animation though.. I particularly like the movement when Zheng leaves, it has such character and atmosphere. Thanks for sharing! =D

  • Thanks for the great feedback,I agree about the cybermen being to advanced, but I had to make do with what I could find for free over the interwebz. Thanks again for watching & glad you enjoyed it.All the best,fraust66. :)

  • This is brill aint it! I'm gonna order this audio for Christmas! Cant wait to hear it in full! :)

  • Would've prefered the 10th planet cybes but it's still probably the best cgi Cyberman I've seen on here top marks!

  • This really creeped me out when the cyberplanner spoke of processing the poor mondasians just to keep Mondas moving.

  • Did u make this Fraust66?? if so scause my lingo but f**kin amazin!! wow its klass if not en who eva its klass :D

  • i couldn't make up 90% of what the cybermen said.

lol the computer looked like Mr Smith

  • Its an excellent video and 5 hours shows how good you are at 'cobbling' together bits of information.

Although its good, its not really Spare Parts. The Cybermen in the audio are the MK1 Cybermen, with cloth masks and who open their mouths when they talk. And the Committee is 20 cybernetic people with swollen heads and tiny limbs.

    Still an excellent video!

  • With that voice I thought they'd look like cybermen MK1 with the voice.

  • this was amazing i love your cybermen work

i dont like the cybermens voices in this though

  • Very good, scarey as hell. You've got the walk down to a t. Love to see more, haven't done any cybermen yet myself.

  • Hi android65mar,thanks for checking it out.You would do a good cyberman video as your walk cycles were excellent in your Evil Of the Daleks recreation.Looking forward to your next installment. :)

  • I could've sworn i commented on this...

    Well,It's brilliant.And 5 hours is amazing!

  • Hi Sean, glad you enjoyed it mate. :D

  • I love the animation and the models, but (and i feel really bad for saying this) ... neither Zheng nor the Committee look right. The cloth-face cybermen seem right for Spare Parts and the Committee is meant to be a hideous cyberntic "hydra" of many heads.

Still, its a great animation regardless, and i dont want you to be discouraged from doing more!

  • Not at all I appreciate the feedback, especially well thought out & constructed as yours is.This was a spur of the moment project that took only 5 hours to piece together. Thanks for watching & good comment. :)

  • at 5 hours make-time, anything is forgiven!

I must say the Zheng's body is probably my favorite bit for accuracy (my vision of anyway - since its still interpretation) , especially since it has a sort of 'space-suit' chunkiness which was mentioned in the audio.

And on a really personal note, i love the stomping march he does! kinda 80's Cybermen, which i think is cool!

I lvoe the Cybermen and Spare Parts is probably the best Big Finish story so far!

  • Thanks for that,I had to basicly cobble together a few downloads to fit Zheng together,Its quite apt the title of the video is Spare Parts.Have to agree that Spare Parts was a great story concerning Cyberman History & origins.

The walk was done with aniMate,a plugin for Daz Studio,it was a fast walk slowed to 50% speed. Thanks again for taking the time to comment, much appreciated. :)

  • excelent! video

  • Hey Luke thanks for watching mate. :)

  • very good. but you have used the Monnbase cybermen instead of the tenth planet cybermen

  • Thanks for watching, the cyberman model was thrown together from bits & pieces downloaded from the net.Daz Studio isnt really a modeling program so I made do with what I could find available as downloads. :)

  • Excellent. brilliant work.

Especially the lights, really adds to the creepy dialogue and highlights the Cyberman

  • Hi tangerinealarm thanks for watching mate,as always I appreciate & value your feedback. :)

  • Wow, that's awesome Faust, the Cybermen are second behind the Daleks for my favourite Doctor Who antagonists. =D I love how they used 1st Generation Cybermen voices for the Cyberman, and you did very good graphic and animation work on it. I like how it addresses the history of the Cybermen on Mondas, everyone seems to forget about that.

Awesome as usual, I look forward to more of your work. =)

  • Hi Kirby I thought it was about time I done your request.Glad you enjoyed it mate.I have to agree,I prefer the Mondos Cybermen to the Cybrus Cybermen.

  • Plus the Cybrus Cybermen just scream Ironman when you look at them. :P Plus the Cybrus Cybermen just are not scary.

  • exelent as usual, i must get that cd, 10/10

  • Thanks for watching jeremy, glad you enjoyed it mate.

  • That's just amazing! How do you do that cool effect with the lights?

  • Hi tmafkap great to hear from you.Check out 'stage effect pro' on Daz's site.I only started this video last night. All the frames were rendered in ogl.The whole project took about 5 hours in total to make. All the very best for now,fraust66. :)

  • Just five hours?!?! You are a wizard!

All the very best for you, too! Enjoy!

  • wow very impressive. thats actcually a really good use of the older design. looks a bit more solid. id like to see the new era explore the cybermens past now. see the various levels of their evolution

  • Thanks for the great feedback as always Sam,very much appreciated mate. :)
