its a battle simulation... obviously cavalry can do a lot of damage to hundreds of foot soldiers

@TheoriginalDRBOB if your talking about Sicily attacking the HRE, its possible, or back then it WAS possible, anything was, like the Battle of Agincourt, if it never happened, nobody wouldve beleived that the english wouldve won with only 200 losses compared to the french with over 10,000. and that one battle between the Spartans and Persians, or the naval battle between Athens and Persia. anything was likely to happen.

One time I killed over 1200 English with only 150 Irish in Kingdoms. Only because they used a battering ram and had no ladders or siege towers so I pulled all of my men to the gate and there they slaughtered the English fools.

ive played rome total war for some time and now i got M2TW as well, but it seems to me that the balance is completely gone, my spearman just plain loose to archers in melee and even to mere peasants :( im i perhaps doing something wrong or is the balance so severely screwed in comparison to RTW that i should just use peasants instead of decent troops (read: guys who were actually trained rather then rounded up and given a pickfork)

If it are phalanxes ,that sucks but normal spearmen arent so great with fighting infantry

the pikemen are even worse, ive tested it against normal spear militia in custom and as soon as the charge hits, they trow away their spears and start using their sword while getting butchered. the only way around is to remove their swords.

You need to destroy sicily in Grand Campaing to be able to play it same goes for most other factions. You -need- to kill it, if computer opponent destroys Sicily you wont get it.

at the bottom of Italy, youll have to get military access from the pope or he will lower ur relationship with the pope when u march through, though it prolly doesnt matter, you will possibly be excommunicated by the time u destroy sicily

Voulgier r ok, they aren't as good as Swiss Guard but r better than (utterly crap) halberd militia.

You have to have a general in a city captured by crusaders with the "Templar knight status" i THINK...but theyre the same thing only different shields so it doesnt really matter...and you can't have a hospitallers guild and a templar guild in the same city...

Way to go man! A new chronicle! I must thank you because your blog has give me great help. I wasn't able to get trough the battle of Onbaava(?) but thanks to your blog I was able to win that batte with 450 men survived. During the battle I noticed that V and / formations made by forces armed with mace or sword wasn't so effective than forces with long spear. Do you have some different formation for sword etc. forces?

As for the V formation. Swordman are indeed not as good for it, use anything with a spear for that. Swordman are better at movement and flexibility tactic, use them to flank the enemies, support engaged troop, and fight infantry units. that's my best advice =)

I didn't saw them yet, but the mongol army are also very much pwnage when they comes. I lost a city to them, but stoped the invasion at the same time by inflicting them huge casualties... don't i could not record that battle... too demanding to the comp...

yeah... well i don't think i will manage to play it with bigger units... when the mongol attacked me I had to put every thing at low so the games doesn't crash... But in general it run with a smoth 35 to 45 fps...

Great vid attila, two things I noticed are that its alot more frantic with big casualties on either side and that you really need to preserve all your soldiers. Again great vid and soon ill be starting and I think ill pick russians.
