The baseline @ the very beginning is the very similar as 5 to 1 by The Doors. That is true.

But that changes after the first verse...

I personally think that best bits of the song come after that first chorus...and those bits sound totally different.

I hate that people listen to Oasis songs and then because the baseline in the first 30 seconds sounds like 5 to 1 that the whole song is just a rip-off.

Bleh. Musical copyright ultimately leads towards the elimination of the art form. No matter what you do (especially regarding strumming guitar chords) you will find similarity in other music. Music is a technically limited art form, so instead we must "bask" (so to speak) in the strength it has for inciting emotion.

Also, status and fame destroy it. The only reason anyone cares about copyright is because of money/affluence etc. Without something to gain from stealing music no one would do it.
