  • I hear her husband wasn't bad at the old saxomaphone. ;)

  • Thank you! Love this..had it on vinyl... played it til it was unplayable... so good to hear this again.

  • i want to buy the vinyl and mix it with FlyLo..

  • Definitely one of the best albums of the 70s. Right up there with Funkadelic's Maggot Brain and Jimi Hendrix's The Cry of Love.

  • This song is sooo unique, soooo incredible! Is there another like it anywhere on earth?

  • @foxlaw90043 Bloom by Radiohead. Inspired by this song.

  • On my list of most favourites, along with John C's "Equinox". A magical piece of music - every time I hear it is like the first time - eternally fond memories are associated with this piece. : )

  • With this song I always an envision an entity of pure light descending to the earth to heal all forms of suffering. Almost like the creator coming down to bless the denizens of this world, unknowing of greener pastures and purer forms of existence.

  • ファラオ・サンダースを大フューチャーした1970年、アリス・コルトレーンの亡きコルトレーンへの弔い精神サウンド、当時訳が分からなかったナ! #jazzm

  • @blackandtanful ah, sí....

  • i respect the diversity and subjectivity in everyone's arbitrary aesthetic tastes, but I honestly cannot accept that three people here actually listened to this and thought "i dislike this"... I can tolerate but not accept. Seriously, why?

  • @MonsieurRondu that question has bugged me since I was little, I never understood it and I still don't, which is why I want to study music cognition & musical taste in grad school to figure it out .... lol.

  • listening that song I lost my joint...!!

  • Anyone have bass transcriptions or even simple tabs for this? I'd love to learn it, but I'm a terrible learner by ear.

  • alice... the best guide to a spiritual journey

  • Had no idea when I found this link that I'd be listening to the song for 2 straight hours...!

  • i can't say anything interesting or original that would express how beautiful and strange this sound truly is

  • I was listening to John's My Favorite Things earlier and wondered why I hadn't heard Alice's music. Thank you for posting.

  • Mindblowing. Amazing. Fabulous. Heard it for the first time on the radio today and now happily found this on Youtube. Thank you for the upload!

Now I need to find that record and buy it asap!

  • Praise god

  • this woman is such a baws

  • This song features on one of the best and rarest albums I have in my collection. The album is called: 'JUST A TASTE" (ABC Dunhill - Impulse) which is a compilation of absolutely fantastic songs from legendary English bands/singers, eg: Jimmy Witherspoon's version of "Handbags and Gladrags" (the best version of this song); Genesis "Looking for Someone"; BBKing "Every day I have the Blues"; "The Last Valley" the haunting theme song from the movie of the same name; and many more.

  • Vinyl is always the way to go!!!! VERY NICE TRACK!!!!

  • this rules!!!!!!

  • Enta Da Stage. Just brilliant.

  • sensual

  • pure serenity.

  • shes grandaunt to flying lotus. similiar sound

  • Absolutely breathtaking. Cleans the soul.

  • This is so beautiful.

Could you post some more tracks from this album please.

  • My Soul renewed to my inner spirit, and flashed heaven, what a song.

  • have this vinyl ... found it in a box full of hundreds of my parents old LP's...

    love this.

  • that bass, omg! i just had a eargasm!

  • Listen to this in the bath all the time- its just delightfully brilliant.

  • I wanna thank you for putting this on. Everyone that puts stuff keeps music alive.

  • One of the best songs ever by anyone....imo

  • reminds me of blackmoon

  • Something else. Truly something else

  • I can listen to this song all day long and never tire of it. Meditation on this song can give insight on what it feels like to be in the state of Satchidananda if only temporarily. This song is so beautiful!

  • if i got this on in my headphones, you best believe im FLOATing above your ass on the sidewalk , ya dig?

  • Alice was a force like no other. I love John's music dearly, but Alice went above and beyond even his heights. This is REAL post-rock in my humblest of opinions.

  • spas

  • This album was part of my collection in 1974 as a high school student! Years later, I was privileged to see Alice Coltrane (Turiyasangitananda) in concert with son, Ravi! She seemed to think there would not be much interest in seeing her perform in later years - fortunately, she was in error! She transcended in 2006.

  • sooo sooothing i love it!

  • ah, journey in satch. instantly relaxed.

  • How did you do that old film look trick?

  • wow!

  • Went to my house in Rosarito MX...it faces the beach and green mountains are behind us....I was playing "Message from the nile" my favorite McCoy Tyner tune....It fit in with Mexico so perfectly-the land....I realized it was the peace and tranquility of the beach and mountains...And now I hear Alice again....so moving. As SPORTYPAT48 said...once my energy is returned back to the infinite...this is what I also hope to hear.

  • In my dream of dreams, when I arrive at that place you call heaven or nirvana...this is the music that I hear. Alice and John's music is eternal....

  • Just heard this on a Gilles Peterson podcast with Matthew Halsall and had to hear it again. Ahh...

  • You should be able to buy the vinyl brand new in an alternative music shop. I know I did.

  • Is this where the bassline from black moons enta da stage is from? Either way great song here. This whole album is great.

  • @MrThielBeats

    yes blackmoon sampled this bassline...

  • Yes ...man that is what makes hip bop so cool. To forms of music coming together...Wow

  • hip bop?

  • The sampling of bop and advant garde area jazz with inner city rap arrangments.

  • thank you uploader! always a fantastic journey with alice.

  • promise land, mother of all this is spiritual sense

  • so tranquil...

  • Fantastic track, ive never come across this before, is this album still available?

  • I have attempted a journey into Vipassana meditation. But I knew about Pharoah and Alice long before this. Thank you for this pleasant surprise.

    Namaste,

    Dr. Mike

  • : )

  • so luscious, the tambura really adds an integral sound to the track. I haven't heard enough of Alice Coltrane, this cements it for me, thanks!

  • glad you like it. i uploaded it months ago but Youtube said that it wouldn't be posted because the Universal Music Goup may or may not have the rights to it (?). I guess they didn't have the rights to it, so it was finally posted. : ) Hope it stays up for future listeners!

  • Thanks IWM, from someone who's treasured this amazing talent and vibe for years - first heard the tune years ago on Detroit 'underground' radio. Had the vinyl, sold it, had it on mp.3, lost it and now it's here. If it's any consolation to UMG, their sales just went up by 1!!!!! Thank you and UMG for being enlightened enough to share this with me and others of like musical persuasion. Peace.
