@anielak @anielak I think that's because Tom told him to kill his boss( so he assumed that Tom thought he is gonna be inside). As for the mistress, she did expect him(the countryside meeting with boss was a made up story for his wife- when Neil asks "Where is your husband" she replies something like : "You know where he is. He is on that hunting trip.That's why we're here"). I don't know if that makes sense but that's how I would explain it ;)
