It sounds just right to me. Even if you care so much for this person you love with all your heart, they should not be so fucking stupid and should learn how to fail. Sadness is like happiness. Everybody deserves it.

I don't think it's a bad thing that this version has a faster tempo, it just creates a different style. The slower version really emphasises the sadness of the story in the song, whereas this song creates the feel of how the girl in the story would come across to strangers (such as the listeners of the song). She would come across as a normal, happy girl, yet she hides a horrible life, and this song comes across a normal, happy song, yet the happy chords hide the horrible story the lyrics tell.

I like how upbeat it is. Because i realize it has a sad message but the lyrics are somewhat bittersweet and sarcastic, i mean "on a black cadillac she is landing hard, yet her parents' biggest worry is the car" that's kind of a dark joke. I think the contrast between the upbeat music and the melancholy message is what Hull was going for, but i could be wrong. Regardless of what version, the lyrics are fuckn incredible.

E major, C# minor, A major, B major, E major for first part, then when it changes its A major, C# minor, E major (those 3 twice) then A major, C# minor, E major, power chord B, Power chord A, A major, B major.

That's how it is in standard tuning, at least. He might be down a half step or something though, I'm not sure. I basically use the bar chords for all of those, because then it's easier to get that blank strum he does.
