@spameron1980 the original 79 version is rare, hence the price, the recent re-release is bound to be a fraction of the cost..you can buy my 79 white label copy for £180 : )

There are several covers of this and I must say that I think that the Carlos Santana live version is by far the best, perhaps even better than the original.  I really think that the "funk" has completely been taken out of this and where oh where oh where is the brass on it!!!!!!

very nice! good break* there's another one out there actually called disco nassau it's got a real hard groove but the break is like 3 or 4 seconds, i like this one real funky & mellow, thanks for posting!!!

For those finding it hard to get this on 12 inch it was released on the first Norman Jay Good Times compilation on CD and Vinyl which I think has been deleted. Plenty for resale though.

Please do not bark at me or treat me like insane, but to me the original '73 track is much much funkier.

I got both on 12 extended and to me the '73 cut is the real thrill.

There was a '74 cut done in Kingston, Jamaica by Hopeton Lewis, called "Funky Kingston", which deserves your full attention too.

I am a french 26 year old man and I have been loving "The Beginning of the End" for over 10 years now. At that time you could get real bargains on eBay.

I know it's Ray's song, but the calipso rythm can't be imitated with a cow bell. this version is purely a disco beat ok for three minutes of dancing. The singing and rapping is lame also. The original with carribean rythm (in my opinion)is way more funkier..
