Props for actually attempting it. 99.9999% of people wouldn't, even the ones that criticize here. He did pull the front wheel up and shift his weight back. You don't want to land on your rear wheel first on such a slope; you have to try and get it to land both wheels at the same time for best control. Since he's on a cheap bike, it requires even more skill by the rider, since the bike can be flimsy/flexy compared to stiff/predictable with suspension to do quite a bit of the work.

@fluffyman15 That drop isn't that bad at all really, not too high and the transition(landing) looked nice and steep. On a hard tail it would be a bit rough, but you would soak it up with your legs and the seat would probably be slammed so no worries there. On a fullie, definately no problem the suspension would soak most of it up. Back to the landing, the fact that it is steep helps because it allows the bike to continue its natural path instead of a sudden stop like a flat landing. Good?

it depends a lot of the jump and the speed you take! if it is a slow drop you need to lift the front, if not the front will dive and you make a OTB like the dude in this video, which is always nice to see! :)

I bike - Make sure you have a good bike

1. You would lean back before you hit the drop

2. If you are not going fast enough flick the front wheel up

3. If you are in the air lean back

4. Try to land back wheel first

Tip control the bike, don't let the handle bars move freely, have a firm grip

Hate to say it but if he tried this on a dearer bike he would still end up on his face. That said I wouldn't try jumping that. Fortunately by stuffing the jump he stopped himself from hitting that tree that was in the way. Should never have jumped there. Simply not smart. Perseverance builds character, so keep trying. Don't hit the tree, lift the bars land on the rear wheel first!
