Everytime I see the trailer for "Gods and Generals" I still get chills. I don't care about what the critics say, I enjoyed the second installment in the Civil War trilogy. If I had the money, I would pay for the production of Last Full Measure.
i heared that there was another battle in gods and generals but it was taken out is that true????????? the battle is called antetem creek??????????? if u know anythin let me kno cheers
Oh man if he had kept the Booth subplot in the theatrical release of G&G that would have balanced it out for the critics. You can see in the preview some footage of Lincoln and the Chamberlains at the theater that wasn't in the movie. I would walk over glass to see the director's cut!!!
Even though Gods and Generals was at least what almost 4 hours long...there were several scenes that were cut. I was in the brass band at the train station scene with Jackson. We were in a 2nd scene that was cut.
thanks for this post, i agree to wit kbuddha420 gettysburg was a well made movie, gods and generals was greatly computerised, and wish it had a more powerful music score like the first one, but i sure hope a third one does come out! i apreciate all hes done thanks, im a history buff
Apparently Ted Turner pulled the plug on 'The Last Measure' so there wont be one...until someone else chips in. Maxwell's filming Joan of Arc at the moment
I Loved this movie and Gettysburg, I have them. I am waiting of Last Full Measure to be Made. When will it come out????? The Wilderness Wars. My Uncle was an extra in OGAG's He said Robert Duval was in the camp with them at Music time. I think Duval was MUCH better than Martin Sheen as LEE! My Great Great Grandfather was in Stonewall's Brigade! He was pardoned at Appomattox
Yes, there is more footage. In this program, Ron Maxwell mentions a "Director's Cut" which may or may not be released in the future. I know many people would enjoy this.

This is amazing series, and critics can go watch themselves cause they have no idea what a good movie is.

They took out the Battle of Antitem because the film was too long and they needed to cut down on the length.

The scene where Chamberlin's wife is in bed with Lincoln while her husband is at Fredricksburg was cut too.

I've heard that there was an entire Antietam segment that was cut from the movie. I would love to see the entire thing some day.

All we know about the third in the series is what Mr. Maxwell mentions near the end of the program -- that there are continuing discussions.
