  • 17 Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry fans need to get their ears cleaned

  • 17 people Hate Surfing.

  • When average guys could be cool...

  • stold it from chuck berry sweet little 16, i hate these homos

  • @norcal53o 1. learn english 2. try to respect the music of the Beach Boys, because they are probably 10000 times better than you 3. don't use the word "homo", because everyone who is saying it is one 4. the best way to an improvement is: hear music like this!

  • LIVE!!!!! great great! not many bands are able to play songs like this live!!!

  • @meetyoualltheway - The Beatles, "Back in the USSR," is an admitted homage to the Beach Boys. George Harrison's Idol was Carl Perkins and they all loved Elvis. That's why we call it the, "British Invasion."

  • This is the classic performance. Notice how the studio, "Ooh's," Turned into live, "Ah's" and anybody that says Dennis was a hanger on should watch this video because he rocks the house.

  • A Top 5 hit for The Beach Boys in May 1963. It would hit #1 in Canada. Well, it sounds like a new type of music has hit the scene. It's what I call the California Beach sound. And this group is leading the way. I consider them as the first breakout act of the 1960's, next to The Four Seasons. But the biggest breakout act of the decade was on the horizon; TBAC (The British Are Coming, The British Are Coming).

  • along with my dad, im a beach boy MANIAC! love this song!

  • Surfing USA for ever! It's fantastic. I love it!

  • Surfing USA for ever!

  • its such an original

  • @livlife95 listen to chuck berry, sweet little sixteen and you will find it's not so original!

  • @livlife95 This was actually ripped off from Chuck Berry's Sweet Little Sixteen. He sued and actually won a small settlement and a share in future sales.

  • @livlife95

What is so original about stealing?

  • @livlife95 What is so original about stealing?

  • I use to love this song, until I heard it was changed from Sweet little 16... I have to say that bothered me, but I guess it's still a great song.. =D I forgive you Beach Freaks!

  • this was actually based on Sweet Little Sixteen by Chuck Berry

  • 11 people from Team Melinda still Party in the USA

  • Omar13Z...I totally agree with you! I listen to hard rock and heavy metal and love this band!

  • I love this :D

  • That Rickenbacker sounds great Rock on Carl! BeachBoys forever!

  • I loved the beach boys when I was a kid. My older sister was supposed to take me to a concert and took a guy instead. I cried for days.

  • I just had a crappy morning in court and surfing + Beach Boys makes it all better <3

  • can't get this song out of my head. :)

  • 1:41 The singer... LOL

  • Btw does anyone know what type of music this is :P. Srry I don't really know.

  • @Ace3340 surf music

  • the monsters stole this from Chuck Berry. Fuck em

  • @bigdog5994 Chuck Berry plagerized his ass off too, remember "Johnny B. Goode"?, totally ripped that off from Marty McFly. I saw this in a documentary.

  • @WipeOut180 He got permission

  • while I watched this i kinda just stoped blinking and was mesmerized. lol

  • Love this song and the Beach Boys. Amazing the see them playing a Mustang and a Rickenbacker!

  • they are awesome? I Love them

  • 9 people don't have an ocean XD

  • The Boys re-released it. Went to #36 in Billboard, 9-28-74. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! RIP, Dennis and Carl Wilson.

  • I love "Surfin USA" by Leif Garrett. He was soooooo cute & beautiful at that time. He is our eternal Idol.

  • oooh I want a Motorolla Xoom.

Why isn't there a better-quality version of this song on YT? something loud. uggh tired of clicking around

  • @dickinson1027 try "Surfin USA mod" it's a heavy metal version and its loud

  • I've finally heard chuck Berry's Sweet Little Sixteen(my older sister has it on a mix CD) and the song sucks this is waaaay better

  • @coolsweetgroovy yeah, they repackaged it and made it catchier for a trendy white audience. they're a great band, but it ain't their song. well the lyrics are theirs

  • @elevatorisland Whatever The Beach Boys rule

  • this song was ripped off from chuck berry. hope everyone knows that

  • @elevatorisland Who cares? Both Chuck Berry and the Beach Boys are great musicians.

  • @GuyWithNoName67 true, they are great musicians, but I, and I'm sure many other people, do care nonetheless. It's still theft and disingenuous to pass someone else's music off as your own.

  • @elevatorisland.... I always here this argument and yes, they did adapt this from Chuck Berry's "Sweet Little Sixteen" and he ended up getting his songwriting credit on "Surfin' USA". Also its a basic blues riff that Chuck simply sped up, so he didn't exactly come up with it either. But one of Berry's biggest hits, "Maybellene" was adapted from a song called "Ida Red." The only difference is "Ida Red" is a traditional folk song so Chuck didn't have to worry about copyrights with that one.

  • @TheRamby11 that's a very good point. I have to admit that this sort of thing happens A LOT in rock and roll, since the chord progressions differ very little. I do feel personally that this one is a theft though, because it's identical except for the lyrics, also chuck berry was a contemporary and probably rival artist (somewhat), not some dead and gone songwriter who wouldn't mind.

  • @elevatorisland you're right that it does happen a lot, even to lesser degrees like with "My Sweet Lord" and "He's so Fine" (not that I believe that George Harrison ripped off the Chiffon's song). And I agree that American folk songs pretty much belong to everyone in this country. The good thing is Chuck got his credit for this song. When I have this conversation, I usually say Chuck can have "Surfin' USA", Brian Wilson has "Pet Sounds."

  • haurachi sandles are badass:)

  • I love this song and everytiime I stick my head out of the window and yell "Squirl!" multipile times, I think of this song.

  • check out that rick i want it

  • narly dude

  • we have this for are band consertt sweet

  • Rickenbacker!

  • I only disliked it as the quality is really bad, i don't get people who like something even if it sounds bad, we're supposed to be rating the video so it;s a no from me but the song is pretty good

  • The title should be:

The Beach Boys - The Crowd !

    xD

God Bless The Beach Boys !

  • wow i was so used to clicking out advertisments that when the banner at the bottom saying what the song was i went to go click it and the video paused i was like wtf? lol

  • ya i miss that my fav is kokomo

  • hahaha what are those girls in the background doing?

  • female fans don't scream like that anymore, i miss those good old days

  • The Beach Boys (Brian Wilson) originally took full credit (lyrics and music) for the composition of this song and said they were merely influenced by Chuck Berry among others. Later (after it was settled in court), Mr. Berry was given full songwriting credit.

  • @renewd

Actually, that is only partially true.It is very similar.but, NOT copied. There is a video on this site where Brian is showing the difference in chords, etc. He even says it IS similar,But different.

The Beach Boys didn't set out to copy Chuck. He WAS, however, Carl's idol. They were all in love with his STYLE of music. It is true that the courts ruled in favor of Chuck because it was so similar. Personally, I love both. And,truthfully speaking, they both profitted from it's popularity.

  • @renewd The intro to the song is also almost identical to the first few cords of the Duane Eddy song, "Movin n' Groovin" which was released several years prior to the first performance of "Surfin' USA" Coincidence? I think not. Many of the greats take from other sources... but I suppose that's what makes them so popular.

  • @ezc623 But don't get me wrong, I love me some Beach Boys tunes

  • Striped shirts are appropriate.

  • Love the beach boys! I'm 17 and listen to rock and heavy metal. But nothing can make me not like this great music

  • @Omar13Z same here

  • @Omar13Z Me too. :) i'm 16 and forever devoted to Beach Boys :) I blame my dad. :)

  • @Omar13Z SAME HERE except for the 17 part

  • The section from 1.13 onwards is one of the most exciting pieces of footage of live music I know. Despite the crap dancers.

  • The Beach Boys Forever RIP Dennis and Carl

  • I was 8 when the British invasion hit America in 1964. I was a precocious kid. I knew that everything The Beatles did was gold. I knew that some of The Rolling Stones stuff was gold. I knew that the Dave Clark 5 were interesting, but too goofy to spend money on.

And the Beach Boys? They were too square to spend money on.

But then around the mid-seventies there was a reassessment. Finally we snobs saw that Brian Wilson is a musical genius. Hippy snobbery gave way and proper tribute was paid.

  • maaaan! these white mother fuckers stole Chucks song!! funny how history stay's the same! what a Black man does big....well, a white man steals and makes bigger!!

Eminem's famous lyrics! "If I was Black I would have sold Half, I Ain't have to graduate from Lincoln high school to know that!!!

    Fuckin Crackers!

All respect to Em though for knowing the truth!!

Chuck did win cases on this song and copyright though!

i was pissed when they tried to copy the mop top,

their classic 40's hair was epic!

  • watch out! a gay surfer

  • Funny how much this song sounds like chuck berry's sweet little sixteen. lol

  • what faggot ass bitch Mike Love is

  • I love Carl's Fender Jaguar!!

  • @janejordan85 It's Rickenbacker.

  • @janejordan85 It's a Rickenbacker.

  • beach boys suck they stole shit from chuck berry the original king of rock n roll.

  • This is easily one of the Beach Boys best vintage videos. The reason is simple: They all seem to be having fun. Even Brian is relaxed. Excellent!

  • Too bad I couldn't hear the song 'cause of all the tang in the audience yelling. Beach Boys were awesome!

I never got the Beatles though...

  • good!!

  • I sure miss the days when rock music make you feel GOOD.

  • @winddancer1562 hahah i think you were high

  • Great song. Beach boys are awesome! i LOVE old music.

  • I was so glad we got to sing this for choir. c:

  • God Almighty!!! what a great live performance, who said the bb's couldn't rock, even brian is goin' mad!!! fab guitar solo from Carl, Denny beat the crap outta them drums, and the 3 part harmony on the " aaaahhhh" in the verses sounds like a rock n roll orchestral choir... what fun! what joy in the performance! what a blast!!!

  • i love this song, it's on my ipod :D

  • nice pants...

  • Girls gone wild!!

  • i heart the beach boys

  • disliked it cuz they stole it from chuck

  • @Kewlaidez wow, the beach boys we're in the sixties. chuck wasn't in the sixties. chuck is a tv show in the 2000's. So they did not steal from chuck, get your facts straight.

  • @qtips99 Umm- the Chuck he is referring to is Chuck Berry, author of Sweet little Sixteen which the BB's based this song on, Chuck sued them and they gave him a credit straight away, so they admitted they'd copied it.

  • Crooks stole this from chuck berry sweet sixteen! Fake phoneys!

  • I love this song and they had some talent.. but I wouldn't call them great musicians... I mean it's not hard to steal someone elses melody and just change up the words.. people do it all the time and don't get any further than youtube.. but still.. i used to love this song

  • @imsochrisp fuck you.

  • @imsochrisp actually. if anything, it can be argued they weren't proficient at any one instrument (cept carl on guitar eventually), but all the wilson brothers were amazing amazing musicians.

  • 2 people missed the like button :/ I love the beach boys!!!!! :D

  • surf city

  • Love it :) Thank you !

  • STOLEN SONG! straight up!

  • 1:48 - I wish I could dance like that.

  • Nothing like the Beachboys! What a band! Love the old stuff loads,

  • so smooth....love it :)

  • Great music.

Those were the days of fun, fun, fun.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Glen Campbell on lead guitar on the record.

  • @Knugabug -"the definitive diary" by Keith Badman gives Glen Campbell's first session with the Boys as the Dance Dance Dance session on 9th Oct 1964, while this was recorded on 5th Jan 1963. The first sesson with some of the Wrecking Crew, but not Glen, was apparently on 14th June 1963.

  • Por supuesto, un rolon. Me gusta.

  • All I have to say about this group is "Sweet Little Sixteen"

  • Me too i agree with that girl im 13 and i like most of the old music much more than the music of these days

  • I love the beach boys. Y cant people appreciate this type of music. its better than the music we listen to 2day!! :)

  • these dudes are always awesome! surf rock!

  • es un clasico

  • Man, the Beach Boys fucking sucked.

  • @jimih64 I mean, no offense to their singing, or their playing "abilities". But they were the number one bullshit music industry band of the 60s, save for the Beatles (pre-Rubber Soul).

  • @jimih64 Wow this is a clasic case of somebody getting the cause and effect confused. The Beach Boys were talented musicians and vocalists before they were famous. They created surf music on their own and that's why they became industry favorites. It's not like the studio created the sound and just chose these guys at random off the street to play "their" music. Most of their songs were written and created by Brian Wilson.

  • And if the Beach Boys and Beatles "pre-Rubber Soul" sucked so much, why don't you post one of your own songs, if you even have the ability to create one? Let the youtube populace decide if you have even a small amount of the talent these bands had. Or do you always just go around critisizing things you can't do yourself?

  • Only somebody who is around
