Wonderfully gentle, thoughtful and constructive influence for kids. Today? It'd be laughed off the air ... not NEARLY cynical or rude enough for today's audiences.
Television changed when everybody could afford a television set. Originally it was early adopters and taxi-cab drivers. But once television became a standard household appliance, the quality of the programming dropped by around 90%.
LOL my social studies teacher told me to look this up and write some facts about it to get extra credit ................... great timesss lol great show
A very innocent time, and entertaining show, but there were some REALLY weird movies. Perhaps from Eastern Europe. At that time the countries that bordered on the Iron Curtain or were just inside it might as well have been on Mars.
I remember one movie in particular that was filmed with a bunch of kids living in some sort of semi-flooded stone quarry and the caves leading away from the sides. Wish I knew what it was. Very strange for sure. Sort of a "Lord of the Flies" kind of thing.
@HegemonyCricket It was a short film called "The Giant Eel" -- Czechoslovakia, 1971. A lot of the Film Festival shows dealt with children and bullies. That one is one of my favorites.
@singer9545 - I'm with you. But you know what? This show would be rejected by today's kids - and their parents. Not sexy enough. Not violent enough. Not profane enough. I'm sure somebody would be wondering when either Kukla or Ollie would "mount" Fran! It's a sad age, but it's good to see KFO available somewhere.
@WSenator1 Unfortunately, you're probably right. I really enjoyed Kukla, Fran and Ollie when I was a kid and I'll be ordering the DVD set of KFO. But what passes for entertainment with kids now is just plain garbage.
we are living at the end of ages. It is sad because so many heart are cynical and perverse

The 1950s TV programs are class entertainment.

Paul Merrion is wrong. Those early seasons of Sesame Street could be enjoyed by an adult as well.

Whaddaya mean, no sex? Fran was probably my first crush. She still looks pretty hot to me, after all those years.
