  • After watching and listening to some boy soprano's freak show trying to sing this and making Florence Foster Jenkins sound sublime, i always have to hear Lucia Popp's rendition to clean my ears of that trash.

  • Wow, perfect!

  • Incredible, i love that version. Her voice was so strong and beautiful.

  • Wow... So heartbreakingly beautiful.

  • Why a photo of Maria Callas? Give Lucia her rightful place!

  • No soprano can sing this as good as Lucia, the true Queen of soprano. She died too young.

  • Thank you very much for posting, good job with the lyrics !!!

  • Bellissima...!

  • Only the Flower Duet from Lakme can compete with this piece. It is just out of this world...

  • Where you said "I don't know", the lyrics were "und zertrummert" :)

  • Very nice!

  • LOL 1:53.

  • I don't understand why not just put Lucia Popp's photo so everyone can have a look who's singing.

  • Song and recorded in 1969 and actually reedited or rerecorded on DVD in 1990

Unha aperta

  • Lucia Popp-Otto Klemperer- Philharmonia Orchestra-1990- This academic, almost perfect performance is a lesson for learners. Impossible to relate to the great Maria, simply because is a specialised role for a coloratura soprano, which María had not. This is the most difficult song for such a soprano due to that acute FA . The title is "Der Hölle rache kocht in meinem herz" and was included in The Magic Flute by Wolgang Amadeus for his sister-in-law Josefa Hofer.

  • Que voz tan dulce y tan melódica

  • wow! great!

  • bahahah i like the i dunno part

  • that is right, the fabulous MARIA CALLAS, she Born at New York, Manhattan, and she say: I AM NOT AN ANGEL AND DO NOT PRETEND TO BE. THAT IS NOT ONE OF MY ROLES. BUT I AM NOT A DEVIL, EITHER. I AM A WOMAN AND A SERIOUS ARTIST. AND I WOULD LIKE SO TO BE JUDGED." - I AM MARIA CALLAS............

  • I like that the makes the high vocalizations a little more legato than you usually hear - it gives the section a sort of pause that is utterly breathtaking

  • This down right amazing, this is my new favorite song...Lucia Popp is amazing

  • The name "Whitney Houston" (and her so-called-music) shouldn't even be here!!! These women, are REAL singers!! Whitney you just "caterwaul"!!

  • (only one little tweensie-weensie correction: It's "Greek-American", not "Greek" only. Let both sides have their pride, especially the people from Washington Heights ;D)

  • Thank you SO much for putting the words as they came with the singing! Now this helps for ME to sing it!!! (I won't promise to upload it on Youtube... but you never know). And thanks for putting a picture of Callas even if she didn't sing it, she's so beautiful and amazing (major fan here) that it's always a pleasure to see her!

  • Mozart: one of the greates artist of all the times and Lucia Popp one of the best singers!

  • Why do people think this is a song? It's from mozart's opera magic flute... Not a song. That's why you people don't get the lyrics.

  • Much appreciation for the lyrics!

  • Und zerbrechen = the I DUNNO xD

  • Pleasent notes, but I couldn'nt say that the song is quite as pleasent ... Anyway Lucia's voice is Amazing here as always ...

  • Terrible song but I love the 0:43.

  • Lucia Popp's performance is 99% perfect. At 0:56 or so, on the high E above high C (I think?), she gacks ever so slightly. This I assume is a deliberate flaw that proves the otherwise perfection. :)

  • Mozart God bless your pure soul.

  • fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • YEAH, opera Karaoke! Thumbs up! =D

  • Thumbs up if you are a boy and have attempted this :)

  • in movie he get inspired by his mother in law couse she had screeching voice :)

this mozzart was strange indeed :) ,i never knew what was words about.

    best aria [melody] ever!

    good video

  • Why would you upload a video and lie about who's in it?THIS IS NOT CALLAS!!!

  • Verstossen does not mean destroy but disowned.

When written "I don't know", it is zerstrümmert. She repeats the three adjectives she uttered just before. " Verstossen, verlassen, zerstrümmert alle Bande der Natur".

And finally at 2:07, it is not Natur but " Wenn nicht".

  • Verstossen means disowned.

  • There is a fault at 2:07. I don't know what she is saying but I'm sure it isn't "natur". I don't even like operas but this song is hust amazing. :D

  • magnificent!

  • in the picture there is MARIA CALLAS, why?

  • Genius! Loved it!!

Gracias, amigo, por la cancion y los "subtitulos", son great:) "I dunno" - lol!

    Thanks a lot!

    Mozart and Lucia Popp forever!

  • Popp is the queen of the queen of the night definitely....

Her voice sound like with flame from the hell

    horrifying but extremely beauty

  • Marvelous! Thanks for the translation!

  • Her high notes shimmer! This is fantastic!

  • why is Maria Callas pictured when the singer is Lucia Popp????????

  • Absolutely brilliant!! Her voice is truly an instrument of great beauty!

  • This shouldn't be a related video to that of Florence Foster Jenkins.

  • this is the clearest version i've heard. you can even hear her voice mix with the friggin piano...:D

  • Hola :) I dunno is Zertrümmert (smashed)

  • Okay, I loved "I dunno!!! T_T" It made my day!

  • Verstossen = pushed away

    Verlassen = abandoned

  • Edda Moser, Diana Damrau, and Christina Deutekom(spelled right?) own this one...

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL "i dunno!!! T-T"

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL I DONO

  • Incredible voice! God I wish I could do that! :)

  • The one who uploaded this video must be an ignorant gringo. They know only about comics and how to plunder nations and kill kids with phosphor bombs, but have not even a shadow of culture those bastards

  • Beautiful voice!!! <3

  • I came to watch this after I listened to Florence Jenkin's rendition of Queen of the Night... I feel much better now.

  • LEYLA GENCER IS THE BEST....

  • really gd great and fantastic...ganz toll =)

  • This is Lucia Popp singing and Maria Callas in the photo:P

  • Simply Amazing!

  • the singer is Maria Callas, not Lucia Popp...however, the song is too beautiful *_*

  • @NikaTamiya Callas didn't have a high F...and she never sung the role...

  • lmmfao!!!!! VERSTOBEN! VERLASSEN!! I DUNNO! T_T

wow i read it and thought for a second that those would be the actual words lol..

  • I dunno!!! T_T = "Und zertrümmert" ;-)

  • I can't believe why anyone would thumb this video down ...

  • By far my favorite version sung... Heartbreaking sweetness to her voice.

  • Amazing! I don't even like opera! bravo! fuck.

  • Incredible what two such talented people can achieve together when their abilities are so well matched even though they have never met each other in person.....a timeless mutual symbiosis of sorts......a miracle that touches the heart strings bringing joy to all senses that will endure for an eternity......

  • Why do we have a picture of Maria Callas when the voice is Lucia Popp? Ms Popp is absolutely miraculous, isn't she? And rumour has it she practised a whole tone higher than written...

  • Fantastic! Rich and warm tones that just flow out of her. thank you

  • why is there a picture of callas

  • @skitzo429

Perhaps because the one who uploaded it thought she is the queen of music, id est she is the real Callas.

  • fabuleux!!!!!!

  • Still out of my range T_T ...But... Almost there! :D

  • 1:50-1:56, "I dunno1 T-T" LOLOLZ!

    God this sounds beautiful, though.

  • And yet Florence Foster Jenkins draws still more views, even in this era of Youtube.

  • What does Callas have to do with it? Popp is better singer. Why is Callas' picture here? No sense whatsoever!

As far as I know this is a rare recording of Maria Callas...

Könnte jemand bitte beweise liefern wer das singt?

Could anybody please proof who sings this?

  • @TheBohemianSpirit

  • @TheBohemianSpirit

Bevor Du Dich weiter blamierst ..... lese mal was oben steht:

""(The woman in the picture is the Greek soprano Maria callas. The woman who sing is Lucia Popp in 1969)""

  • wow! so fantastic.

  • è la callas o no???

  • mi piace molto e adoro Wolfango

  • this song is so pretty i want to learn it i have the vioce and every thing im goin to learn this song lolz wish me good luck :)

  • I DUNNO lol

  • Why is there a picture of Callas on this video when it's clearly the voice of Lucia Popp? I absolutely love Callas too, but, this is odd. Lucia Popp and this aria is perfection. I think I hear bells when she flows into the high notes. Just magnificent!

  • i like her voice, its sharp--but not piercing or anything

From Japan

  • wait one damn minute! that face is La Devina! Calla.

  • she is amazing....

  • She's gorgeous!!

  • f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i dont remeber anymore but

    "i donno T_T"

  • Let's not try to compare the incomparable to the more ordinary. Sutherland was and still is incomparable in this work. No one who knows better, would argue otherwise. She had something no other coloratura in history has possessed: a combination of power, agility, pitch and ease which coloraturas, by definition, do not possess all at the same time. She was an anomaly, but her legacy is our's to listen to and enjoy. Go ahead, listen.

  • why is there a picture of Maria callas when its lucia Popp singing?? lol

  • Beautiful, thanks to Adri1430 and nanananajojojo! shephren.

  • Oui!!Je connais cet air magistralement interprété...

    BS..L♥

  • BRAVO! FABULOSO! No tengo palabras!

Gracias querido Fabiano por compartir esta maravilla!

  • Wow!

  • but a "schwur" is not a curse but an oath

  • i love the idont know!

  • Verstossen!!!

    Verlassen!!!

    I dunno!!! T_T

Epic XDDD I wonder what will be my sing teacher's face if I sing that xDDDD

  • @xkyousukex i don't understand what she says! sorry =/! i

  • i think it's "und zertreten"

  • @nanananajojojo I believe the word you didn't understand was "zertrümmert" again. ;)

  • @nanananajojojo she says UND ZERTRÜMMERT, if you see, she is just repeating what she said before.

  • i think "und zertreten" ;)

  • @xkyousukex hahahahaha XD totally epic >.<

  • diana damrau is greater. but thx for the vid- with vocals

  • @xkyousukex

I dunno = "und zertrümmert" (and smashed)

  • @xkyousukex hahahahahahaha xD id would be so, so great, hahahahahaha sing it like that!!! hahahahahaha i'd like to see you teacher's face!!!! hahahahahahaha

  • @xkyousukex

hahahha..your teacher will be amaze..and she will ask you to sign his/her autograph..hahaha

  • Isn't that a photo of Maria Callas?

  • yes it is. why, i don't know but it's also written in the info box

  • eso parece

  • Lucia Popp gave the most perfect intonations I have yet heard in this aria.

  • no, i think Kathleen Battle does. Battle is like a machine

  • Indeed great performance!

  • Ja ja, ¿y por que pusiste a Callas? ja ja. Me gusto tu video :)

  • @ejrouge xq cuando baje la cancion decia "the queen of the night - maria callas" pero despues la gente aca me decia que era lucia popp ... pero el video ya estaba editado asi que solo cambie el titulo.

  • @ejrouge Si, por qué? Yo quería escuchar a la María Callas :(

  • @ejrouge Doesn't sound anything like Callas. She is hardly capable of this. Too good.

  • This is the best Queen of the Night that I ever heard... simply stunning!

  • @gabrielxv diana damrau is actually more powerful, and i think is better

  • Lucia Popp is the best :)

  • FLAWLESS!

  • Why is Callas's picture in this video? It's funny. I'm trying to focus on the music but in my mind face of Callas is associated with her voice. I can't imagine Callas being queen of the night. That'll be hilarious. Did she ever perform as queen of the night?

  • Perhaps the uploader could not find a photo of Lucia and just placed a photo of Callas wich, to his opinion, is associated with opera art. See his comments in the upper right corner. regards

  • I don't think so, it would have ghastly if tried to do it though.

  • This is a wonderful video. I love the tempo maestro Bohme takes in this version... gives the singer (Lucia Popp), Janowitz is also the incomparable Pamina in this version. Sarastro... is Frick... I need say no more on that one. However, I loved the idea that you put La callas in the video.. she was a genus. It is intriguing to see how she still and always will have an impact on the world of opera. Great video. Kind and warm regards,

  • It's very effective.

I love this version ... I grew up on it :)

  • Divina....

  • See told you...;).

  • Oh Lucia Popp is my favourite soprano to sing this aria. Her voice is magnificant and I can feel the anger in her voice!

  • OMG, I nearly started crying I was laughing so hard when you posted a section a portion of the lyrics as "I don't know- !!"

  • i really don't know -.- but if u do pleease tell me and i'll put it up :D!
