cables are easy go to ebay and look up 360 hd cables. you canget a pair for like 5 bucks. Best buy is over price.. you may even beable to get this cheaper look around ebay/amazon/Overstock/newegg.

You can't record in 1080p as the component cable doesn't support 1080p definition, 1080i is the highest but 720p looks better

Depends....

If you want to record your voice WHILE you are playing at the same time, then just use something like audacity and a usb Microphone, then when you record, you have to hit record on the hdpvr and record on audacity (or other sound recording program) and then you can play... if you want to record voice AFTER the gameplay (like a prerecorded commentary) then just do the same thing with audacity or even sony vegas while you are watching your own gameplay.

Then sync them after

Yea I use a high-end laptop and it is almost essential for recording everything I need to, editing, and so on. Look at the specs on your PC or Laptop, it should equal to a nice $400-700 one you can get in market today. If you have Windows 7 it makes things so much easier than Vista, in my opinion.
