Why wouldn't the bishops cover up the crimes... who the hell ever said bishops and cardinals can't be pedophiles?... Anyone on this earth can be a pedophile.. Wake up people!!!!...There is more crap going on behind closed doors than you can ever dream of ..

From the Ryan & Fearns reports of Ireland we know of the sexual AND physical abuse of thousands of kids. But what about in the US?

I assure you: there WAS abuse....in each & every parish school. Kids were routinely slapped, paddled, spanked, belted, verbally/emotionally & psychologically abused by the martinets who posed as 'teachers'. The physical abuse only stopped in the late 60s.....

@losarman Like many generalization, is fails to tell the whole story. I know what you say is true. As a general statement, there was a quiet order sent out right after Vatican II to cease the more severe physical abuse (strapping, paddling, caning,etc.) But that does not mean it was universally or immediately complied with.

In most cases the abusers then resorted to face-slapping & public verbal/emotional/psychological abuse of school kids in the US. But some beatings did still happen....
