  • Ive got a flat black paint job on my truck. How do you clean it? I know that your not suppose to use wax since it will get rid of the flat look. I heard to use dish soap. What are your thoughts

  • you look like a fuckin shim but the car too sexy good job

  • I call it African, so beautiful

  • Hello what is the paint code

  • & the award for worlds sexiest car goes to this guy :)

  • that car is smexy lol

  • hot as fuck. how much was it to do it?

  • i had 2 paint mines flat black i do alot of street racing flat black fades with the night

  • Hot!!!!check mines I got the first dodge charger on 24s same color as the car( flat black)

  • Love the

    Paint job

  • Get some flat black rims and maybe smoked taillights super clean

  • So sexy I had the roof of my suv painted in sikkens rally black it came out nice but cleaning it...Jesus I wasn't prepared every time it rains it goes in the garage and when it snows idk what the hell I'm guna do

  • @nelson4568 I hear ya!! Never fails, I wash the car and suddenly theres a freak shower. Wasn't a problem with the original paint, but with the flat, it's instantly covered in waterspots and doesn't look at all like I just spend 2+ hours washing it... (btw, googled your FJ, looks awesome. I was actually seriously considering the FJ for utility + recreation before they came out with the Challengers... I guess the utility part wasn't as important to me, lol)

  • @LazarusDark hahaha i spend an hour on water spots just on the roof idk how you do it, the only thing that works for me are kimberley-clark scott shop towels and a spray bottle and i feel like a karate kid buffing out those little bastards...but haha thanks,if you type in google "voodoo blue black roof" its the first one on images...but its a good little suv served me well so far, like i said in the winter thoug with the snow im screwed hahaha no more snow donuts

  • @nelson4568 Takes 2 to 3 hours. I have to wash one section at a time from the roof down, and use an electric leaf blower to dry each section as I go. I tried several types of drying towel, but none worked well for me, the leaf blower works good though. I don't take it out in winter, mostly because my tires dont like cold, I get no traction if temp is below 60 (why do they call them "all-weather", when they really mean good in perfect weather and barely usable otherwise? lol)

  • @LazarusDark haha yeah i had the same problems with my all weathers, im happy i have 4wd otherwise i wasnt goin anywhere;...thats a good idea with hthe leaf blower im gunna try that since my shop vac didnt work, i go through about 4 rolls of towels just for the roof

  • black roof voodoo blue*** toyotas backwards names for their colors its confusing lol

  • Sexy as* car!!! Im painting my Tc this week, how hard is it to maintain? Plz let me know as soon as possible! Still can't decide between flat black or flat white!!

  • How much was this paint job!?

  • Car's paint looks awesome. I just painted my Dakota flat black(no clear) and i was wondering how you protect it? Can you wax it?

  • Love it!! i was thinking about getting the same car and flat black paint job. But with darker black rims. How much did it cost for the flat black paint job?

  • hey did you do the paint job or have it done?.. reason i ask is i am currently doing a old Porsche and i had a piece of dirt in it and i was wondering if u knew a way to clean it.. thanks anyways nice car man

  • Very VERY nice man. I know a lot of guys are going with just a full body wrap in the flat black but your paint job is sick. I have a Stone White R/T and debating painting it just as you did yours

  • @Pharoe29 just be sure to read a few of my other comments here. Maintainance/cleaning is a pain in the @. I really love the classic Kowalski white Challenger, but for some reason the new one loses it's definition in white (unless you add some good striping, which seems to bring the lines back out). But I went from Pearl Black to Flat Black, which is not too difficult to blend at the very few spots you might see the original paint, but going from white to flat black will be difficult to do right

  • Yep white to flat back would probably be a pain in the ass. Someone recommend that I consider a matte white which is a little brighter than the stone white. I'm like you, I love the body lines of this car but some colors make it impossible to see them.

  • @Pharoe29 Holy Crap Yes! I didn't even think to say that, but ever since I did mine flat black, I've been wondering what flat white would look like. You should ABSOLUTELY do that. Plus, while I am in a small minority of people who have painted flat black, you'd be in a super exclusive club (a google search only finds me maybe one flat white). Heck, almost nobody does flat white Anything, but I think it would really help bring those lines out! Let me know if you do, I'd love to see some pics/vids!

  • What was the total cost of the paint job?

  • That's one bad ass Chally! Sleeper too without the badges :)

  • now that is mopar

  • What color is that

  • Do you have to wax it? What type of maintenence on that paint?

  • now get darker tint paint the wheels black and smoke the tail lights thats what im bout to do

  • stealth bomber. =]

  • love this color man , im thinkin about painting my 93 civic hatchback with this color , but you may explain please , wat are all the things you need for this paint job

  • Are there any flat black paints with lifetime warranty?

  • Tint your windows dark and you'll be blown away.

  • OK, thats exactly what I got, the process is already in motion sooo its a little bit too late for me, but I have to ask u, Any regrets, other than u mentioned about washing it? Also, do u still have those wheels on there and have u thought about flatting those?

  • I'm looking for that color, whats the color code on it?

  • @wallschuck

SEM brand, Hot Rod Black, HR010 is the kit number

About 75$ a kit, 5 kits did about 2 coats on the car with just a little left over (I think if I were to do it again, I'd go for 3 or 4 coats)

Had it on for about a year now and no chalking or fading. *knock on sheetmetal* No scratches either, but I'm super careful where I park. Course I've only put less than 4000 miles on it since the paint (5500 total with the miles it had on before painting) but it has sat in the sun quite a bit.

  • @LazarusDark

Thats exactly what I got, the process is in motion for me so its a little bit too late but I have to ask u, any regrets other than it being a pain washing it? Also, do u still have those same wheels on there and have u thought about flatting those?

  • @wallschuck

Make sure your body is super-super smooth. While one of the highlights of this paint is how it brings out the lines of the car, it will also highlight the flaws. When I got it done, I also had them patch the dodge ram badge on the nose and smooth it. While it looks invisible 99% of the time, when the light hits it at j.u.s.t. the right angle (especially when summer heat expands it), you can see the outline where the badge was.

  • Im not a muscle guy. Even to the point where, though it is a great performer, I wouldn't even want a corvette (not cause its not good just that i prefer other cars over it) and the Vette is basically the best muscle car you can buy, but there is something very appealing about this car to me. I love the Imposing presence. The 'brutish-ness' its just says awesome. but 5.7L givin me 375hp kills me a little bit... ok a lot :| (i need atleast 450). but that aside... it looks great and i like it.

  • that shit made me laugh when u said THATS MY FAVORITE LINE,,,,hahaha it looks nice though i love it! im trying to convince my friend to flat black his challenger and after seeing this he just busted a nutt!! check my Hummer out i just got it done Matte BLACk too! biggest lift youll see too

  • Sexiest car I have ever seen!

  • Damn, that has to be the most badass paint job on a Chally that I have ever seen!

I want to paint my Charger R/T Hot Rod black but I don't know, with all the care that has to go into it and all...

  • Whats the best way to wash this type of paint job? Since im thinking of doing similar.

    Good stuff, by the way!

  • @jaybody Very, very carefully. It takes me about two hours to wash. I have two words for you: Water Spots. Like crazy. I had to develop a method to wash. I do one section at a time, starting with the roof (if the rims are dirty, I will usually wash them first though). I wash the roof with Meguires regular wash, then I rinse, then I immediately dry it with a leafblower. This is the ONLY way I have found to prevent serious water spots!

  • I then move to the windows, wash and blow dry those. Then I work my way back to front, I clean the trunk/tail end, dry it, then move forward, one side, then the other, then the hood/front end. You have to work quickly though, I find even in the shade in cool weather, the water still evaporates quickly off the paint, which will leave more water spots, so you have to work fast to blow dry it before it can evaporate and leave spots.

  • I have to do this about every two weeks depending on how much I drove it. And if it rains on the car, the water spots are terrible, so you have to wash it again. No one said flat/matte was an easy car color to work with. It IS a lot of work... but its worth it for all the turned heads and compliments.

  • im sure you have been asked but what would it look like with a clear coat, would it still look flat or would it be just like a normal black car?

  • LMao Shen xD i love it i want my hood roof and trunk painted this color and the rest dark matalic sliver lol nice job man i always wanted to see the Challenger in this shape man u got a nice taste in cars man haha

  • How much did it cost for the paint job???

  • do u know itf they apply any low gloss clear coat to protect that nice paint of it was just hod ratz black paint whitout any protection for like birt crap or wax.please let me know thank btw sweet ride

  • @antiantinorteno

There is no clear coat. Just the Hot Rod Black, 2 coats. It's been over six months and no problems with it, aside from a small chip on the edge of the passenger door (thanks to the idiots who "helped" install my rear speakers... never again will I let those idiots touch it). And no, you can't wax it. Most of the year it does okay with a wash every two weeks, unless it rains then you can see the water spots (I actually have to blow dry it with a leaf blower when I wash it).

  • super nice.

  • yea, dude, this video really shows what you're explaining. My friend also had painted his 2007 dodge charger srt8 flat black, really looks awesome ..

'n also this car needs to get the windows tinted , doesnt it?

ps: nice car, nice video! if you wanna see that car, just check out my video, u'll see it :)

  • well it looks amazing, i want myne just like yours, watever its considered

  • doesntsnt flat black look dry , and matte has a deepness to it< isnt it matte black

  • @demorgus Yes, you could call it matte. I generally just say flat, but technically you may call it matte. But most people don't really care about the difference though, pretty much all "flat" car colors are actually matte.

  • whats r some bad things about painting your car matte black? what do u have about it. also did u get it wrapped or painted?

  • Thats SWEEEET!!! Now all u need is some rims, and lowered, it would be perfect!!!

    In my opinion!!

  • hey lazarus dark! give me some advise i just primer my import and im gonna paint it flat black! but i dnt know wat i need??????

  • thats my favorite line......

  • Yeah, I know I sound like a dork. Gimme a break, it's the first video I EVER made...

    :|

  • "it doesnt shine!! its got a sheeeeeen" lol....

  • nice paint job, now you need some wheels!

  • As a primarily GM guy, I have to say that is one of the meanest looking modern cars I've ever seen. The lines are beautiful, and the color is meant for the car. Have you thought about aftermarket rims that are maybe an inch or two larger and chrome? I even think a torqthrust style wheel with gunmetal finish would look amazing. Great car!

  • man your challenger looks sick, good call!

  • That is an incredibly cool look, really really unique. How do they prep the factory surface under to get the paint to adhere without worry? Did they go to bare metal? How much did it set you back? Sorry for all questions, but I'm seriously considering it!! I also have heard about some industrial paint that has rubber in it...

  • Unfortunately, a month after I got the car, which was ordered special from the factory... I got caught in the worst hailstorm I've ever seen. $8000 worth of damage! They had to replace the hood, decklid, front fenders, and even the whole roof.

  • So the roof, front fenders, hood and decklid were in primer from the factory and they sanded all the other parts to bare metal to fix the dents (the bumpers are plastic and had no dents, but I had them sanded so they could paint the whole car). So all parts were painted separate from the car then put back on the car (door sills are painted too, so you can't find the original color anywhere unless you lift the carpet in the trunk.)

  • total cost was only 800 for me, $100 deductible plus $700 for sanding the bumpers which the insurance wouldn't pay for since they weren't damaged and for the additional paint cost (this paint is about $75 per kit and it took 5 kits to do 2 coats on the car)

  • Your right, the paint is SeXy!! GREAT LOOKING CAR!...but it would look that much better if you had got the 20 inch wheel option...It would look jus that much better! I like how you took off the Hemi badges. That was a good idea

  • I think this looks absolutely incredible. It does make the lines more visible from farther away. Great job and thanks for sharing this beautiful machine with us! KILLER!

  • I have to agree there... It really does look amazing! This paint makes it look even more like the original, which is definitely a good thing I.M.O Nice challenger man!
