I would recommend during the captain phase letting everyone put there shipped goods anywhere, rather than having to put them on a ship with the same type. Also, special building functions play a large part, so maybe removing half or so of the buildings will lower tough choices and keep it simpler. And one more thing, it's always good to start a new player off with a corn (and maybe and extra doubloon if you think it's necessary) to help them start.
What would be a good way to make this game a bit easier (less overwhelming) in the first play for beginners?
I was thinking of not considering the special functions of buildings.
Another option would be to take out the captain, and only get points by building.
Any thoughts?
