I'm a Cats fan, but I think that the Bombers' 2009 season was epic - in particular, Rounds 3, 5, 20 and 22. A crazy season, making it to the finals winning less than half of their matches, yet still making the finals, only to completely fail against Adelaide. What an unbelievable year!!

didnt deserve to win??? we were 43 points up halfway through the 3rd qtr, how many teams can say that? and then we were without a ruckman, main defender and one of young guns with just 1 or 2 fit players on the bench, im not surprised st.kilda cam back... but i cnt see anyone else beating the saints so far this season.
that has got to be one of the greatest upsets in history, and my boys did. i knew that would happen. i said a few weeks ago, st. kilda will not lose a game until they verse us and then they will lose. history will repeat it's self, look back to 2000, essendon lost to the bulldogs in round 21 after beating them by 10 goals earlier in the season and went on to win the premiership... my bombers will make the finals and reach the semi's maybe even pre-lims and if we make the GF we'll win the prem!!!

St kilda didn't play badly in that match, essendon won it very much on their own merits. Dont forget that we played the last quarter with no Fletcher no Dempsy and no Ryder, who were all electric in the first three quarters, st kilda should have pumped us.
Essendon should have scored, Monfries had a player streaming towards goal when he marked 20 metres from goal with 1 minute remaining, but he chose to ice the clock, and didn't even look up, very dissapointing play, along with his backwards kick. But the result is a win to the Bombers anyway!!! Brilliant game:D

didnt deserve to win??? we were 43 points up halfway through the 3rd qtr, how many teams can say that? and then we were without a ruckman, main defender and one of young guns with just 1 or 2 fit players on the bench, im not surprised st.kilda cam back... but i cnt see anyone else beating the saints so far this season.

that has got to be one of the greatest upsets in history, and my boys did. i knew that would happen. i said a few weeks ago, st. kilda will not lose a game until they verse us and then they will lose. history will repeat it's self, look back to 2000, essendon lost to the bulldogs in round 21 after beating them by 10 goals earlier in the season and went on to win the premiership... my bombers will make the finals and reach the semi's maybe even pre-lims and if we make the GF we'll win the prem!!!

Yeah we are inconsistent as all young teams are, but we are hitting our stride coming into the finals and we have nothing to lose. St kilda didn't play badly in that match, essendon won it very much on their own merits. Dont forget that we played the last quarter with no Fletcher no Dempsy and no Ryder, who were all electric in the first three quarters, st kilda should have pumped us.

Essendon should have scored, Monfries had a player streaming towards goal when he marked 20 metres from goal with 1 minute remaining, but he chose to ice the clock, and didn't even look up, very dissapointing play, along with his backwards kick. But the result is a win to the Bombers anyway!!! Brilliant game:D

The last five minutes were all Essendon. The way they broke that St Kilda flood to get the ball to Monfries was brllliant.
I think it was extraordinary that St Kilda felt the need to flood to stop Essendon scoring at that late stage. Only Essendon's inaccuracy in that last quarter put Sy Kilda in the game.

Essendon is going to amount to anything this season??? Maybe not. It's the luck of the draw, but it is certainly not a fact! After all Geelong should have won last year, but didn't. Stkilda should have beat Essendon in round 20 but didn't. In AFL football nothing is for certain. Therefore if Essendon play their best footy which is capable of matching with the best sides eg Stkilda, Brisbane, Calton, Collingwood (all of whom we have beaten this year) go the BOMBERS!!!!
