Also, I was wondering, do you have other cats? If you're fostering kittens like that, how does that work? Do you have to keep them separate or does it just depend on the cats?
@cherrybombchick666 I do have a cat of my own. Personally, I always keep my fosters separate, in a room that is easy to clean (spare bathroom; ie, no carpet). Plus, my cat prefers it if he doesn't have to see them. :)
@closereaching Thanks for replying. =) I've been curious about fostering for the shelter I volunteer with, but thought of how stressful it might be to my cats to be introduced to a new cat/kittens -- plus if the fosters are sick with something (A respiratory infection or whatever), getting my own cats sick. . . Stuff to think about. Hmmm.
If your shelter has someone in charge of fostering, talk to her about your concerns. She most likely has been through it herself often enough and can discuss your concerns and limits. It isn't just kittens in need - shy cats who need time to come around, injured cats who need recovery time, chronic snifflers, or for the really crazy fosterers... neonates (newborns, no mom). Sometimes it takes specialized training, it always takes a big heart, but it's always worth it.
What a wonderful video! Good for you for fostering those little guys and their mama. It seems like it would be incredibly rewarding, but astronomically difficult to have to give them away when they're grown.
such a beautiful video; can't help but feel happy after watching this. I'm a foster parent too (small animal rescue) so I appreciate the message. Thanks for putting this together.
This is too cute, I love and have animals, but I would not make a good foster parent, I would have the hardest time letting them go, To be honest, I don't think I would let them go, either
Thanks, all, for the kind comments. I created this video in hopes that it might inspire others to foster. Fostering is an incredibly rewarding experience, and a tangible way to help your shelter save lives!
Thanks for such a beautiful video. The music goes perfectly with the lovely images. I'm close to welling up; kittens touch a very special place in my heart. Wish I could foster ... maybe someday ... at this point I have 5 grown cats and need more room! Love to you all who foster.
I foster cats for Planned Pethood in Toledo, Ohio. I watched this video surrounded by all my bouncing baby kittens, and one of them even watched the video with me! I can't begin to tell you how rewarding it is!!!
Some wonderful person fostered my girls before I got them. I don't know who they were, but I can't thank them enough. I know it's hard to let them go after fostering them, but know that they go to a loving forever home and that what you do really does make a huge impact on lives - the kittens' and the their owners'!
Thank you so much for this precious video. Fostering kittens or puppies is so rewarding. Kinda tough when they have to leave but its all for a good end. Thanks again!
