Plus the fact they fought for our country and the rest of Europe. They deserve the respect, even if they were forced. Tell me, what have you sacrificed in this world to warrant you the right to speak/type/talk? They paid the ultimate sacrifice for your freedom for many peoples lives at home.

This horrible war was the first industrial one with far and wide reaching consequences, touching the world not just Europe. Exactly without an enemy an empire really can't exist. About us following America into Iraq I do agree with that and support our boys out there at the moment. However, what I hope about Britain not getting involved in WW3 is if America starts it, If the US or any other ally of ours is attacked then sure we give aid but if someone starts a war on our side then that's their business.

Well America will start it there is no doubt about that! LOl! BUt i disagree with you on one point: I don't think any nation should help defend another nation. National defense is that nations responsiblity. Intervention simply leads to more war. WW1 and WW2 were unneccessary from an American standpoint. I know it might sound harsh but those were European quarrels that the FOunders of America warned us to stay out of. I beleive in national defense, not international offense.

My great granbdfather whas an Cameron highlander. He survived the war with only 1 of his friends.

His friend suffered shellshock.

He never saw him again after the war.

He self never felt hame in normal life after 4 years in the trenches.

My Scottish name is given by my grandfather who called me after his father, Angus McBride.

I carry the name with pride. Thats my heritage of the war.

My gandfather was a band director fora NY regimenta and he was an ambulance driver. He swore he would never kill anyone and i don't think he even carried a weapon although he saved a lot of lives. He was nearly killed several times but never said much about his experiences. Those were very brave men but what did they fight for? SO they could set things up for Hitler? That is not what they meant but that's what happened.

Yes, World War One is a fogotten war of the 20th Century, many of our relatives who fought and survived are passed now, my great-grandfather and great-uncle as well. Of all the wars that I could travel back in time to fight in, mine would be World War I.
