Your right, Pennsylvania having an economy equivalent to Indonesia is shocking. Jakarta itself has double the population of Pennsylvania. When I was there it seemed a lot of rural people lived off of subsistence farming.
@EricBoisen I also live in Iowa. The GDP map is interesting, but it leaves out some other interesting data. Even though Iowa is relatively poor, it has one of the lowest rates of economic inequality & social problems. This is true for many of the other relatively poor states. OTOH rich states like California & Texas have high rates of economic inequality & social problems.
I was surprised at Turkey being so high and New York being the same size as Australia. New York has only slightly fewer people than Australia does, but they have so many corporate headquarters and most of New York City, you would think they would be SO MUCH bigger with regards to the economy.
